Well produced video, but I don't really agree with this characterization. There's no doubt that he seriously fell from the top, but comments like "plummeting into the depths of mediocrity" is a harsh exaggeration to say the least. At 15:06, a false claim is made that Spieth hasn't won since 2021. Spieth won in 2022 at the RBC Heritage. Moreover, Spieth was T3 and T4 at the 2021 and 2023 Masters respectively, while also solo runner-up at the Open in 2021. These results are nothing to sneeze at, considering those results are against the best on the planet. In fact, at 15:41, just looking at his earnings from 2020 through 2023 you can see he has made a significant comeback to form. I'm not saying he will ever again have the kind of run he had in his early career, but saying "20 years from now, that meltdown is all we'll ever care to remember" is totally untrue and undeserved imo

Its weird how this can happen in golf. Because its not as physically demanding, I eould consider golf to be almost more like playing music. Theres a technique and a rythm that you have to find. My guess is his momentum and drive was all powered by his will to be one of the greats like Tiger, after losing what would have been his 2nd masters win in a row.. he probably realized how difficult it is and lost that magic of naivety
I find it rather funny the amount of comments suggesting he is not good anymore, I mean come on, does anyone understand how difficult it is to win a tournament, let alone a major? I think it's right to say he hasn't fulfilled expectations, but perhaps those expectations were too high. But, anyone who's won the Masters and the Open, the two most iconic tournaments in golf, ain't bad.
I still remember watching that meltdown live. After his second shot in the water I said "well, he's never recovering from this, we are watching the end of spieth's career." ... crazy that I was actually right in hindsight.
Jordan hasn't had the collapse that someone like David Duval had after he won his only Major championship in 2001. Duval was set up along with Phil Mickelson to be Tiger's rival for the next decade but was never the same after his British Open win.
FINALLY Someone has pointed out the obvious...100% correct, he has NEVER been the same. Yes, he has won a few, but his confidence is gone. Prior to THAT shot he had won 7 times in LESS than 3 years. In 8 years since he has one 6 times and now is almost irrelevant. So my questions: 1) Why is he always in the featured groups and followed on television, and 2) Why is he so popular when he is unbelievably annoying? They should pair Spieth with Brian Harman and put us out of our misery! (By the way, you never see him on the weekend telecasts...if he makes the cut...because he is so far back he is teeing off as the sun comes up.
Speith's natural shot is a draw. His attempts to hit cuts during the 2016 Masters - with both driver and irons - often turned into slices that left him right and short of the target (eg, his drive on the 11th hole). But thanks to his amazing scrambling, he managed to stay ahead of the field. However, at the 12th hole his luck ran out - he attempted another cut, which yet again ended up right and short of the green ... and in Rae's Creek. After that disaster, he finally got the message and hit only draws for the remainder of the round. Even on the 18th tee, instead of hitting a cut with his driver (as in the previous rounds), he hit a draw with his 3-wood.
I'm not convinced that this was Jordan Spieth's demise. I think we saw signs of his decline months before this happened. Even after his great year of 2015/16, he became extremely erratic off the tee, primarily because he chased distance, thus, altering his golf swing. In his historic year of 2015, he practically made every putt.....literally. Of course that could not be sustainable. Making everything he looked at on the putting green makes every other part of his game much easier to handle or fall into place. If you recall, in the 2016 season, he didn't make a lot of putts, not nearly the number of putts he made in 2015. Also, he started having the yips on the tee box. He would grip and regrip his club before swinging, constantly looking at his target, not pulling the trigger. It was little things like this that started to creep into his game. It's quite possible that this moment on the 12th hole at the Masters was the impetus that started it all, but I believe the wheels were already in motion prior to this event, imho.
I was wondering what happened to Spieth. I only really got into golf in 2022 and kept hearing how he was amazing and saw his wins and resume. Now it all makes sense. I am sitting here writing this also thinking about his buddy JT. Whatever happened to JT man? Crazy what golf can do
I recall watching this live, just before he hit that shot I said " as long as he doesn't block it right, he will win" of course having watched the Masters since 1972 I knew how many players had lost their chance to win by losing their shot to the right on the world's most treacherous pat 3

It’s unbelievable that Rory and Speith haven’t won a major since 2015. Golf is hard! Impossible to predict. Just goes to show how great Tiger really was. A major or tournament win in golf is 20 times harder than tennis. I wouldn’t be surprised if Alcatraz wins 20 majors but 3 for a golfer is all time stuff.
Hard to imagine Jordan losing his form so badly. I guess he can still get back there. Confidence is a huge thing isn’t it? You’ve really got to hand it to Greg Norman for continually getting back to the top and in contention after some really tough near misses. After the Mize shot in 87, he was back in 88 and 89. Even after 1996, he was back three years later fighting it out. He lost all 4 majors in playoffs, as well as being runner up on other occasions.
This video is class after the fact reasoning. He has definitely not performed like 2015. But just plain old regression to the mean is just as good an explanation as the disastrous 12th. He won a major, played well at Ryder cups, plus several more tournaments after the disastrous 12th event. Did that one bad event cause those positive events too?
When the joy is gone and that thing you loved doing becomes a grind, or worse, an agony it's hard to devote yourself to it in the way you once did. When you see yourself bypassed and you begin to feel like a lucky imposter I can only imagine it gets really difficult. Kinda like an undefeated boxer moving up in class and eventually wining the world championship. Then, you get knocked out for the first time and never really recover to your old form. Just an analogy and not taking anything away from Speith who is a great professional golfer.
If Spieth had won that Masters again, then it would be a totally different story. Then his friend Justin Thomas is not the same as before. Golf is hard!!!
A career downfall? Some golfers never win a major, and he won the Open after the meltdown. Also, you mistakenly said he hasn't won since 2021, but he won RBC Heritage in 2022.

@@DwayndibbVids what a Rory then. Dude can’t win shit 😅
Wow good observation!!
@@tomjones2056 Wait. I'm sticking up for Speith. He hasn't got the long distance like other guys.
10:30 wonder why his caddie was not telling him that.
A career downfall? Some golfers never win a major, and he won the Open after the meltdown. Also, you mistakenly said he hasn't won since 2021, but he won RBC Heritage in 2022.
Gotta say tho, idk how you keep up at that pace, he definitely took a left turn, but i mean even currently, i don’t expect Scottie to win like this for ever, it’s golf lmao
Wonder if all the media speculation had anything to do with it.
He was amazing! Totally amazing.
He really looked like he was on route to be the GOAT.
But one single hole finished him off.
Nicklaus would have bounced back
Speith never recovered
Literally won another major but whatever
Won a major a year later
#12 is a _terrible_ place to try and shave strokes. Especially on Sunday.
How on earth does this man have such little subscribers, this is beyond quality content, keep it up
Because he is gay.
Please make a video about how players have never been the same after hiring the "best" swing coaches.
Poorly researched, Spieth won the RBC Heritage in 2022 and placed 4th in the 2023 Masters
Still my go-to for wedges.
The minecraft music in the background is killing me😭
He did win the RBC Heritage in 2022
I actually forgot about it until you reminded me. So yea
