If you can make an affordable but high quality case that fits Matx but also normal size PSUs that would be amazing. People often discount the fact that if a case that costs say 120$ with a small footprint can fit a normal psu and an Matx motherboard it comes out to be much cheaper than a really budget itx case that costs 80$ but with an sfx power supply and an itx motherboard

There is a compromise in that microATX eats into available space if prioritizing lower volume SFF. Most designs sacrifice cooler height or other clearances in order to allow for the footprint of mATX. That said, I agree that it's often worth it, particularly when you don't mind if the case is at the upper end of "true" SFF or if the case ends up being a compact microATX mid tower (good to see this become more of a thing the past few years: decent 25-35L microATX mid towers like the Lian LI/DAN A3-mATX, ASUS AP201, Jonsbo D30/D31, etc.). It can be more affordable and allows for a little more I/O for prosumer type uses as well as larger components and cooling.
Please please please don’t settle on a generic box aesthetic. Integrate sensible aesthetics that push the medium forward. Do something like Xikii that’s not limited to specific components, and you will have achieved greatness. We don’t need another Ncase

Especially on the Ncase front (will throw in DAN Cases as well, though nothing against either - they just have no personality to them, which is fine if you just want something minimalist/utilitarian with quality).

Congrats! And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that case for first mini-ITX build. Doing a more challenging, smaller case can get people to swear off SFF, so on that front you made a solid choice.
I've also wanted to explore making my own case. I have a few tools at my disposal (CNC, 3D printers, Laser cutter). This is just making me want to get started ASAP. Definitely here to learn from your process and hopefully create something great. And I look forward to what you guys create. If you could, I think the prototyping phase could go faster if you use a laser for the flat plates.
Suggestion on ventilation areas. Different options with corresponding "sound profiles" of fans against them (where applicable). Some will look better (subjective) vs "be better" objectively.
Recently started watching your channel and like the vibe you have, but this actually made me hit the sub button. Excited to see what you are going to build in the end.
For a reference style case that supports mATX, it'd be nice for the front to have ventilation holes and for the side to have a tempered glass window. This is a basic feature that's been sacrificed with sandwich style cases that I'd like to see returned. Something like the Deepcool CH 160 but with better space efficiency, no handle and your own design touches at a reasonable price would be killer. As a bonus, please make a white version.

I hope this project blows up for you and you become the next Ali Sayed/Optimum in the ITX and PC building space. I recently built my first pc this year, itx build, and I watched heavily on your itx builds, looking for the best airflow case but expansive compatibility with hardware, which I ended up going with the Corsair 2000D, due to the all angle open mesh design and footprint size on my desk. My specs are Asus B650E-I, 7950X3D, Noctua NH-U12A CPU cooler, Corsair SF1000 psw, 64gb G skill rip jaw 6000mhz, gigabyte 4080super non oc version, which the gc fits perfectly in the 2000D and topped with 3 slim notcua chromax fans for the front and I was able to attach a 140mm notcua fan on the top side radiator bracket which was able to fit with the cpu cooler. I absolutely love how the built came out but what I don’t like about the case is the positioning of the motherboard for cable management, especially with the display cables. I also wish Corsair kept the top exhaust design for the airflow to be in that design. But in the end, a solid choice. I already am eager to build in another case, which my eyes had heavily been on the Ncase FormD T1, I would end up switching to an aio, the lian-li Galahad 240mm one. I’m just holding off just because I really would love to see what everyone else’s comes up with. As I know for your first case, it wouldn’t be here for a while and I’m excited to see when you finally are able to have it be released. From that sneak peak at the end, it definitely has the beautiful machine design to it and the color tone is spot on for me. I wish you the absolute best on this project and I can’t wait to see what fresh designs you have in store. One thing for me if cable management could be worked into an itx case, it seems overlooked but understandable in order to make such compact cases. Besides all that, thank you for being a huge part of my pc build. You and many other builders in TH-cam makes it such a fun project on Pc building!

For some reason in my country ITX boards and SFX PSUs are almost non-existent, I can kinda stomach paying a premium for the ITX board if it's high quality, but the PSU has been the major deterrent for me, I have a great 1000W Platinum PSU that I love still in warranty, there's no reason to get rid of it, especially if I'm gonna pay more for less. I'm talking like 600W SFX PSUs costing north of 300 USD. There's no way lol.
I like the concept here. I was just thinking about the same. The SFF should not be a niche product that excludes budget builds. While there are options out there with mATX and ATX PSU support, they're either a tad big, bad airflow, and/or made with cheap materials. I have one request. Please include support for at least two 3.5 HDD. You could do it like on formed T1, where you could put two 3.5 HDD on one of the top 120 mm fan spots using DIY 3d printed mounting.
You want your first product to have as wide an appeal as possible and to be as accessible as possible, so going for mATX and ATX PSU support is a logical move from a marketing perspective. Even if they prefer a more compact build, most PC builders are just not going to shell out the extra 200~300+ extra USD for a quality ITX board, LP cooler, and SFX PSU; that's just a fact with how expensive components are getting now. I wish you the best of luck, friend.
Nice ! I'd really like to see something well done under 18L that supports dual 280x30mm rads with standard fans. Here an idea that I haven't seen yet for ITX case - transformer case that can be both standard (horizontal and vertical GPU mount) and sandwich layout. That should fit everyone's needs for air and liquid cooling. It's just taking the idea of adjustable spine a bit further. The sandwich layout is great for custom loops as it allows easy access to each component, and the standard is more suitable for air cooling. The rads should be top and bottom + mesh sides. Rad mounts should allow access to ports on dual sided rads like alphacool's - easy fill and drain ports. Basically, I modded a bit the Q58 (mounting holes on the bottom for the rad) to install second 280 rad. It is under 18L, and can handle cooling of any components without excessive noise or a need to undervolt.
I'll be watching you closely, I'm very curious to see how it goes from paper to the actual stuff, as I want to do the same (at my scale tho, only compatible for me). Very fun to learn about all the cool stuff like cross flow fans, fan optimisations (check out fan showdown), gpu orientations, ducting...
I love your vids for inspiration for my next sff. Gonna go all out rtx 5090 9800x3d in an sff 19 liters or less. Just make your case below $300, and i bet itll be a good contender for me.

Here's my own wishlist, if you want some ideas: I'd like to see a case that ships flat pack, but doesn't actually require assembly other than some magnetic panels - it just has a hinged, origami design that allows it to unfold into it's true size. Save on packaging and shipping costs, allow for maximum ease of modding. Build quality comes more from having consistently and precisely-cut pieces of optimum thickness using quality materials, and sourcing standard but good quality components for everything else (e.g. the I/O and power button). Attention to detail and high standards for sourcing is what matters. Even plastics and natural materials (waiting on someone who can do a bamboo case one day...) can be high quality materials, not just CNC milled aluminum or other metals - don't let Apple and people who obsess only about their industrial design tell you otherwise. Going unibody/CNC or traditional case design (e.g. stamped steel) makes cases too expensive unless you have scale (i.e. the Lian Li partnerships that a lot of the boutique SFF cases have done). Otherwise you end up having to do limited runs if you can't easily produce enough. Especially with looming sourcing and supply chain issues like tariffs and others related to geopolitics and environmental concerns; we already have had enough experience of this during/post pandemic, with many lessons to take away. I don't follow boutique SFF cases anymore because I hated having to try and jump through hoops, paying through the roof, and/or having to wait an inordinate amount of time to get one (doubly annoying when you are _also_ a custom keyboard person 😅). Boutique case makers often don't think about supply chain resiliency and just focus on a dream case; this is fine if you are just producing it for yourself, but a royal pain in the real world for potential buyers. If you make an open-source design that's easily fabricated, though, then you at least give people options even if you remain the best source for your design. Even materials like 3D printed filled filaments and tools like laser cutters are at least accessible by makers and enthusiasts, but multi-axis CNC machines and the like are not. TL;DR: focus on modability/repairability, simple but solid parts, and make the case highly available, and I will buy one. The ability to accommodate sturdy handles would be a plus but doesn't need to be part of the design (if the space is there, though, this would help modders who want to DIY that - practical handles go a long way to making larger, dense SFF more transportable). Ideally don't price it too expensive, but don't take a loss, of course - anything south of $300 (USD) is at least in the realm of feasible for me personally. Lower would be nicer, though. $150-$200 I think would be the sweet spot for a lot of people and is a point where you could probably still achieve good quality if a lot of thought goes into keeping costs reasonable. ATX PSU compatibility like you mentioned would be a huge plus. Up to or above 120mm CPU cooler clearance would be nice and achievable if using a flat/single-chamber rather than sandwich layout, but if you do go sandwich then ~80mm would be nice for accommodating coolers like the Noctua L12 and similar while still having some headroom for turbulence mitigation.
Since following your channel, I have postponed it over and over again to buy my new PC, which should be SFF. Now it might pay off, as I am confident that your case could be the perfect fit. Just dont forget to add at least 2 Front-USB (type C & type A), which always was kind of a downside for me when it comes to the Nanoq.... And: Please make it available in Germany ;)

I am looking for a Micro ATX MB with an ATX PSU. I am using an APU so I don't need room for a GPU. I have looked at HTPC cases but most of them lay flat and I want to minimize the foot print. Height is not a problem but width increases if the case case supports a GPU. Any suggestions on existing cases? I believe your case will support a GPU. I guess I am looking for a tower HTPC case.

im looking for a case with the same components of a itx case, but with the possibility to remove gpu for trave. lets say, an case for itx, psu sfx sfx l, normal mobo with with cpu cooler of 70mm, but with possibility to remove gpu. i travel a lot i dont want to open case to remove gpu, and later open again to put gpu
Very excited and I understand your goals for this case, but still wish it was more focused on giving us something as good or better than the FormD T1 rather than supporting cheaper and larger components🫤 On the other hand I just ordered all of the components for my first build! I was heavily considering spending the extra money to get the MD280 Pro, but in the end decided to go with the FormD T1 with a custom walnut slatted front from JakeFaceCustoms. I really wanted to do the MD280 Pro, I just couldn't bring myself to abandon my initial desire to build in the FormD T1, the case I've been dreaming of building in for over 6 years.
Yeah, high resolution scanners are like that. Alternatively, you can also use some phones (namely iPhone) to do scanning with apps, but it won't be as detailed as the more expensive 3D scanners. Something like the Creality Ferret (less than $300) is more reasonable also if you don't need that detail. For SFF, though, you do kind of want things down to less than a mm if possible, so it makes sense here.

I don't follow boutique SFF cases anymore because I hated having to try and jump through hoops, paying through the roof, and/or having to wait an inordinate amount of time to get one (doubly annoying when you are _also_ a custom keyboard person 😅). Boutique case makers often don't think about supply chain resiliency and just focus on a dream case; this is fine if you are just producing it for yourself, but a royal pain in the real world for potential buyers. If you make an open-source design that's easily fabricated, though, then you at least give people options even if you remain the best source for your design. Even materials like 3D printed filled filaments and tools like laser cutters are at least accessible by makers and enthusiasts, but multi-axis CNC machines and the like are not.
TL;DR: focus on modability/repairability, simple but solid parts, and make the case highly available, and I will buy one. The ability to accommodate sturdy handles would be a plus but doesn't need to be part of the design (if the space is there, though, this would help modders who want to DIY that - practical handles go a long way to making larger, dense SFF more transportable). Ideally don't price it too expensive, but don't take a loss, of course - anything south of $300 (USD) is at least in the realm of feasible for me personally. Lower would be nicer, though. $150-$200 I think would be the sweet spot for a lot of people and is a point where you could probably still achieve good quality if a lot of thought goes into keeping costs reasonable. ATX PSU compatibility like you mentioned would be a huge plus. Up to or above 120mm CPU cooler clearance would be nice and achievable if using a flat/single-chamber rather than sandwich layout, but if you do go sandwich then ~80mm would be nice for accommodating coolers like the Noctua L12 and similar while still having some headroom for turbulence mitigation.
Since following your channel, I have postponed it over and over again to buy my new PC, which should be SFF. Now it might pay off, as I am confident that your case could be the perfect fit. Just dont forget to add at least 2 Front-USB (type C & type A), which always was kind of a downside for me when it comes to the Nanoq....

I am looking for a Micro ATX MB with an ATX PSU. I am using an APU so I don't need room for a GPU. I have looked at HTPC cases but most of them lay flat and I want to minimize the foot print. Height is not a problem but width increases if the case case supports a GPU. Any suggestions on existing cases? I believe your case will support a GPU. I guess I am looking for a tower HTPC case.

im looking for a case with the same components of a itx case, but with the possibility to remove gpu for trave. lets say, an case for itx, psu sfx sfx l, normal mobo with with cpu cooler of 70mm, but with possibility to remove gpu. i travel a lot i dont want to open case to remove gpu, and later open again to put gpu

Very excited and I understand your goals for this case, but still wish it was more focused on giving us something as good or better than the FormD T1 rather than supporting cheaper and larger components🫤 On the other hand I just ordered all of the components for my first build! I was heavily considering spending the extra money to get the MD280 Pro, but in the end decided to go with the FormD T1 with a custom walnut slatted front from JakeFaceCustoms. I really wanted to do the MD280 Pro, I just couldn't bring myself to abandon my initial desire to build in the FormD T1, the case I've been dreaming of building in for over 6 years.
Please allow 320mm GPUs to fit! Many of us have non founder cards that are around that length.

Yeah, high resolution scanners are like that. Alternatively, you can also use some phones (namely iPhone) to do scanning with apps, but it won't be as detailed as the more expensive 3D scanners. Something like the Creality Ferret (less than $300) is more reasonable also if you don't need that detail. For SFF, though, you do kind of want things down to less than a mm if possible, so it makes sense here.
