    The problem with that philosophy is that $20,000 watches are an investment as they almost never go down in value and often go up in it instead so if you ever need to convert them back to cash you have a fair chance of making money, plus you can use it in the meanwhile as they are incredibly damage resistant so there won't be any noticeable wear on them degrading the value even if you wear them every day for 50 years straight.
    A $20,000 smartphone, on the other hand, will lose more than half of it's resell price upon purchase and more and more of it as time goes by and will be incredibly difficult to sell, plus any scratches will decrease it's value exponentially.
    Most of the people who can afford a 20K watch are good with money and know this and are only buying it because they know that if they ever do need the money they spent on the watch they can get it back and wouldn't buy it if they didn't think they could,
    I mean there are some people who are so rich that they really don't care about chump change like that but that's an incredibly small market getting smaller as phones advance faster and faster,
    It made sense back when phones stayed the same year in and year out but now it was doomed to fail

    • @connerwine8257

      It doesn't matter paying thousands of dollars for something you don't need is wasteful

    • @googleisacruelmistress1910
      @googleisacruelmistress1910 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@connerwine8257 not really, keeping your money just laying around in a bank is wasteful, it will just stay there doing nothing but losing value to inflation, the reason why blowing 20K on a watch makes (a lot) more sense is because (A) they almost always grow in value faster than inflation so they'll in fact be making money for you, or even if they don't at worst you'll just break even, (B) even if other investment vehicles like certain stocks can grow faster and are more liquid (easier to convert to cash) they are also less stabil and prone to market fluctuations so it may not always be a good time to cash out your stocks when you need more money, the watches, and other similar investment vehicles, don't really have bad times to sell,
      I hope this helped you understand why what you said just now was frankly ridiculous, investing is basically the opposite of being wasteful and so saying "spending money on pretty good investments is wasteful"... Well I hope you get how weird that sounds,
      P.S. As a side note I get that they don't really teach this at school but every adult should really learn about investing and money management as early as possible and by your comment and its display of an utter lack of understanding of personal finance I definitely think that it would be in your best interests to brush up on this stuff, not a diss, just some life advice

    I think it would be a better if Vertú just decided to make an app for their concierge service other than bundling a very mediocre device with it. They could have customizing division similar to colorware that produces custom devices based on the current flagship phones of the year with premium materials and such.

      even a 2020 android phone with a 1080p screen might look better on sheet, but people literally chose the Xr over a 1080p android screen. go on Jonathan Morrison’s channel and see his video about people choosing a 728p iPhone screen over a 1080p android screen. you guys just know how to boast about specs that are on screen but when it comes to real life you guys get squandered. yes flagship phones of oneplus and samsung are almost as good as iPhones but iPhones always get the edge. a iPhone Xr with 3gb ram can beat a android with 8gb ram. people like you just know how to hate on iPhones. instead of hating on Apple, just be a neutral and a normal person that respects both OS’.

      @@krishchaudhry2222 the only things apple is good at making the bionic chip , screen ( which is not comparable to samsung ), and ecosystem. We all know that Apple is a status symbol , take that away and it basically makes phones which have good spec and battery life have alot of burning screen issues , repair issues , features which were available years ago are not available in a phone that's costs ten times what a mid range android does . The customisation we got years ago you are getting as ' innovations' in the new ios . Ripped the notch off essential phone. Wireless charging off samsung and the new customisation features in ios off android . We have folding phones , dual screen phones , phones with no notch , some without even those chunky bezels of the iPhone, at half the price and we don't need to buy all the products of the company to enjoy the listed features of our phone . We pay for our phone and get features of the phone and the ram thing .I don't think you know what ram does . Try to open 10 apps on an iPhone and it will probably close alot of them whereas the 8gb ram phone can not only open alot of apps in comparison to iPhone but alos pin apps to also stay open always . Before you point to a single Vedio as the proof of iphones being better try to research more

      @@krishchaudhry2222 I do respect both sides, I was just confused at how apple didn't manage to put a 1080p display on their phone. I do personally like Android more, but that's because I've had many bad experiences with iOS, and not nearly as many with Android. Also, Android has the features that are more important it me when choosing a phone.
      Yes, apple does have some things going for them, but not as many as Android does.
      -I don't like the general feel of iOS. I think it looks outdated.
      -I don't like the look of iPhones. It took them till 2017 to gen the more modern look that was common even back then, and the bezels are still really big.
      -I like that Android has so many customization options.
      -I like the multitasking capabilities.
      -I like that it's available at many different price points.
      Those are just a few. Like I said earlier, apple does lead in some areas, but not the ones I care about. (Minus 2 or 3 features)

    • @krishchaudhry2222
      @krishchaudhry2222 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      prince sethi oh I am sorry did Samsung invent wireless charging? And the customisations features you talk about that has been in android for years, well Apple took those “customisations” and made them much better in the “first” try while Android had years right? And go and see the power of ram in iPhones. The way you’re talking seems like you’re comparing a iPhone 5s to a modern 2020 android flagship. And right now Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max is the battery leading champ. You guys just look for good specs on sheet but they don’t translate that well to real life. The iPhone 11 Pro’s 3190mah battery lasts longer than a Note 10’s 4300mah battery. Apple has become a status symbol because of how far they’ve come. I agree sometimes Apple have made some stupid decisions but you guys have to got be neutral and respect both Operating System and trust me, if Apple gets something wrong on their next series of phones, I won’t be afraid to call them out unlike some Android fanboys that will defend any kind of bullshit android throws at them. Peace

    I remember reading a report a few years ago that compared a £250 fake Vertu phone against an original Vertu phone and the fake was considered better quality except for the expensive materials used only on the original, still a shame to see a small company lose it's market share and for local people to lose their jobs, but they should have seen it coming and pretty unfair that those who spent so much money on the original phone should lose their concierge service as that was the biggest hook.

    I had a Vertu Aster and Signature Touch. They're OK, not for retail price though. The speakers are the best on the market by far and the build quality is out of this world, although the camera and actual performance lagged behind Samsung, Apple etc. If they relaunch they need phones with good specs eg. 10GB RAM, newest CPU, 21mp camera, 4k screen etc. They just need to stand out if they want to charge those prices. They'll need to bring their prices down to around $5000 and less imo because what of what cheap smartphones offer now.

I am even looking to buy myself a flip phone. Most rich people don't have time to waste on social media but if they do have time they travel and enjoy life and all. Smart phone has shit securities, people can tap in and all and even spy on you, when you got money and everything you rather want protection to and having smart phone is just not a good choice. Also this phone come with services that rich people would use often which is plus plus. And shit is Dimond and gold so it's value might increase over time to that's a good investment.

    The problem with luxury smart phones are that you pay 50k on it and in 4 years time it’s useless and out of date and is only worth the scarp value of its materials. On the other hand you have luxury watches. They’re normally luxury as they have great complications which take crafts man hundreds of hours to put together. A lot of luxury watches do hold value although their are some that don’t, but they never go out of day. In my opinion this company shouldn’t compare the two products. Great video btw was very informative!

      My Sony Xperia X was $180 used. Still very good condition aside from a barely noticeable scuff on the back. Just look on eBay and see if you can find an Xperia X for that easily. It was one of those rare finds I had to jump on fast or miss it. Water resistant, 1080p 5 inch display, 23 MP rear camera, 13 MP selfie camera, and 32 GB of internal storage along with a microSD slot good for more storage than most people will ever need. Sure there may be better phones out there but for that price it would be somewhat challenging to find one. That phone is listed a lot of times for a lot more than $200. I don't need an iPhone X when I have a variety of Android devices to choose from, many of which a lot cheaper than even an older iPhone. I personally feel that iPhones are overrated anyhow.

    They should've made regular smartphone with decent specs that is not too expensive to compete with other brands, while still making some limited batches of their "luxury" line to the niche market. That way, they can still keep their luxury branding so to speak.

    What I can't figure out is if a person can pay 14,000 at the very least, then why can't they just buy another phone. Now a lot of you would argue that that would be just senseless and a person would be better of buying a top-end smartphone, then I have to say that a person is better off buying an the latest apple watch instead of paying 20,000 for a watch. At least they will get a smart watch instead of a fancy watch. Vertu themselves said it as a fashion accessory and not a top end smart phone and it's actually something to brag about, not use it as an actual phone, as it is like with most things like this. That's just my thoughts.

    Well, if they managed to rebrand themselve as some sort of company that CUSTOMISES phones for celebrities instead of selling to buisnessman, they can actually rise again.
    WHY?
    Celebrities aren't really good at maths, fame and publicity are actually more important to them. Meanwhile, a business person knows that it simply doesn't worth it.

    • @Erowens98
      @Erowens98 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't be so sure, business men realize that money grows when it moves. Spending money improves the economy.

    • @zhanweigoh5479
      @zhanweigoh5479 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Birki gts Economists / Government would think money does work and grows when it circulates.
      Not businessman😉
      Businessman would spend it elsewhere where it does more work and is more "worth it".

    • @Erowens98
      @Erowens98 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      A rich business man who can afford this probably already has a massive passive income, and probably is smart enough to split his income into different things by percentage. Say, 70% for re investment, 15% for security and 15% for luxuries (random numbers off the top of my head). That's why business men have nice cars, there is no need to drive around in a lexus, or a high end Mercades. A volvo get's you where you need to be for much less money.

    • @zhanweigoh5479
      @zhanweigoh5479 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Birki gts Erm.... yea I see what are your reasons. But, still, a rich and wise businessman would spend its money on an Iphone, and the rest to customize it to make it as luxurious as possible.
      I mean...
      Just think about it. If you have 25,000 dollars.
      A) A smartphone that costs 25,000 dollars that comes with an assistant but is not superpacked with newest tech.
      B)An Iphone X customised with gold/diamonds. (You get latest technologies!)
      Btw, if you a rich businessman, you would already have a personal assisstant/secretary. Why need another?😉
