One of my dream tractors. Being from the quad cities and my dad and grandpa both retired from the East Moline plant, I’d love to have a 1468 v8 made in Rock Island. Sadly East Moline plant is completely gone and the Farmall plant only has part of the warehouse, and the corporate offices across the street left
I have not seen any of these in Western Massachusetts even during my days on our farm. However, I have always wanted to drive one as a young man in 1972. We did buy an 826 about that time and I thought it was the biggest HI Farmall ever and loved operating it.
Being a lifelong John Deere 2 cylinder guy, and also love all tractors, spent many hours on a 706 baling and cutting alfalfa and long rye with a haybine, but I have to say, this is one of the nicest, most unique tractors I have ever learned about and seen here. It is so great that you found this and are keeping it in great condition and I would do the same if I could come across this!! Best of luck to you!!!
Nice looking 1468 do you know anything about old tractor s like a WD 9 we have not started since 1997 we drove it in the shed my brother told my mom we never get it going
TT, Very Nice tractor. I always liked the look of V-8 powered 2WD tractors. Also the MF 1155. Just had a nice look and unique sound. Thanks for showing/videoing. Boe 👍👍
Usually I'm not a fan of your dislike for the old cabs lol but I have to agree with you that this one looks just right with the canopy and duals. Great to hear you are continuing with keeping it inside every night and looking good and original
Another awesome video sir, I’ve been all around your part of the country the last month or so. I’m picking up new trailers at Corn Husker in Lincoln and delivering them to Borger TX and Addis Louisiana
I agree - it looked just right on this tractor - adds to the character of this iconic machine. These tractors weren't all that popular, sadly, one reason being the fact that IH configured the fuel injection to run only four of the eight cylinders at idle, but because it sounded 'wrong', most farmers disabled the system and ran all eight cylinders full time, irrespective of engine speed. Secondly, a well known malady of any V8 engine, (not just IH), was that you had to rev them hard to get any sort of decent performance out of them. Low end torque was always found to be wanting in the design, and honestly wasn't that much better than a straight six engine. Couple that to an appetite for the diesel and you can begin to see why they got dropped from the product line up, the successor model being of straight six configuration. Practicalities aside, you just can't beat the look of this thing - pure classic 70s muscle tractor !
I don't like cabs on international tractors either. I know that they keep dust, and rain doesn't matter to me, but that is a smooth running 1468 tractor smooth running tractor 👍👍
Hi that is a very nice rare tractor and yes it does look better without the cab. My family also has a rare tractor we have a 1568 that we are the second powers of it is number 852 of 862 the were built those v8s are pretty cool tractors don't ever sell that tractor because it would probably be your biggest regret if you did.
You're absolutely right about regretting it when you sell one my uncle has the unfortunate distinction of double the regret as he traded both of his 1568's for a square cab magnum back in the early 2000's he had a open station black stripe 1568 on duals and a white stripe 1568 with a red cab on duals I tease him every chance I get because of how rare and valuable those would be today
I would love to have one back when I was in high school you could buy them for $4,000 to $5,000. I wish I would’ve bought one then because now you can’t touch one around here for less than $20,000
I guess if the way it is now was how it came factory and you're going to restore it I would change it back too if it made it worth more or I just wanted it that way. I don't think those old cabs had A/C or heat that would make a huge difference and no window tint, so it would be a sweat box. The new cab tractors with A/C, Heat and good air filtration are a must with sprays and dust to keep chemicals off of you. Nice video and you don't see one in that shape often unless it's restored or handed down.

Great looking IH!
Any update on when you will be dragging that big Oliver home?
Not currently no.

Probably plenty big for your area.

Thanks. It’s been a fun one.

Quite unique for sure
Love that look with the duals on it. Had a 1486 back in the 80s. Love running that beast 👍
I’d leave the duals on if it didnt take up so much room with them on.
Cool as hell, glad to see you enjoy it so much, you've earned it

I don’t take off factory cabs. This one being aftermarket I never questioned removing it.
Used to run a 756 for a buddy’s dad in high school back in the 80’s had a cab on it. Great tractor back in Washington county ks.
I’m sure it was fun to run. Love the German diesel IH tractors.
So happy for you. What a great tractor
Thanks

On the run around.
Beautiful tractor!!
Thanks
I've heard of people putting turbos on them, but I've never seen it, though. Clean IH you have there.
I know a guy not far away with twin M&W turbos on it. It’s a cool rig.
To keep the tires from weather checking
Periodically put vegetable oil on them. It's a natural oil that keeps them soft and nice condition.
Great tip!
I really don’t understand why you hate cabs. I’d love to have a cab on my old D17!
You're not the only one
I like cabs when they are factory.
If you ever done field work in Kansas it's always hot. Cabs are almost oven.
Thier was one since new it used for field work and drove by hired heip until a family fued and sold never any engine problems
One of the few
What a cool tractor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person.
They are super cool.
Really nice tractor enjoy it
Thanks.
Really should have kept the cab on truly beautiful tractor 👍
V8 doesn’t sound nearly as good inside a cab.

I'm not a big IH fan but those 68 series tractors are really cool looking!
They are pretty iconic.

I like factory cabs. Not aftermarket.
Very nice tractor!
Thanks 👍
Beautiful tractor.
Yes indeed!
Super nice 1468 leave it the shed red ❤
Always.
What a beauty!!
It sure is. Thank you.
My 1456 still has those same rear tires to.
Originals?
@@tmonteIH I think so, tractor only has 5500hrs on it.
Just plain NICE !
No kidding!
Great video and tractor. Hater gone hate. Pay it no mind
Normal things.

1568 is a much harder find for sure. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one in the wild.

Nice tractor but don’t make it a full barn queen. Sitting and no load operation is terrible for a diesel. Got to work them occasionally
It comes out tractor drives, parades and shows.
I would love to have one back when I was in high school you could buy them for $4,000 to $5,000. I wish I would’ve bought one then because now you can’t touch one around here for less than $20,000
They sure are expensive
America!!!!
Hell ya
Hard to find good old tractors. Friend of mine has an original 1066 with around 1200 hours and it looks like it came from the factory.
There a few good ones still out there.

Cab wasn’t factory so it came off. If it was factory it would’ve stayed. But not being original I didn’t see a need to keep it.
Sorry I mean 1468
