You won’t need to take cuttings of the raspberries…. Once they are established they wi send out runners that will pop up fairly close to the mother plant. Love the progress
Great garden tour today! Love it. Great to see the space coming along so well. I think the nettles might try really hard to spread everywhere, especially with the hedge there. The root networks can get so well established. My wife and I have a small bet going. She thinks your dead brambles are just pretending. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! 😅 Lets see what comes up. It’s like a bramble version of Hugelkultur! 👍
I have a cherry plum which has grown very tall, and it must be about 20 feet high. Most years the yield of plums is enormous, and on several occasions the limbs have broken off with the weight of the plums. It is the first of the trees in my orchard to blossom, usually February/early March, and before the cherries, but it never misses a year for fruiting.
I haven’t tried it because I think you either have to graft it or do the budding method. It also depends on the rootstock you have. Mine is obviously not a dwarf, lol. I planted it about 15 years ago and for years have had more plums than I can either reach, or process, so the birds get loads.
Gosh what a lot of hard work you’ve done loads, and you’ve got quite a lot of space back there. Don’t get overwhelmed with trying to do too much at once. Well done.
Hello Erica, So good to see you today. I am very impressed with all you are accomplishing. I always look forward to your videos and try to watch them right away. I hope you have continued success and keep safe throughout then spring and summer.
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden Really enjoy watching all you doing as I have a new garden and doing loads to it… got a mini digger in it atm lol doing lots of landscaping and where it’s on a slope we trying to make it more accessible for my disabilities
Your garden is really coming together now :) thanks for another video, we have been making our own compost or using worm castings and alpine grit mixture, works great! x
Cherry plum! I grew several from seed. Expecting them to flower any year now! Making your own compost only requires one more thing to be always on the lookout for, compost material. Take stock of your compost material sources and collect little by little over the year!
I grow a raspberry bush not canes and it’s in a huge pot but it’s super easy to take cuttings from too. I paid $6 Canadian for a tiny pack once and they went moldy fast and I thought oh never again I’ll buy my own plant. Looks like you have done loads of work 💪💪. Have a great weekend Erica and family, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
That's a lot of work to get done Erica, you've done great already and I look forward to seeing it progress. I love that you've grown those blackcurrants from cuttings, I think I'll give that a go this year.
When I was young, no ordinary gardeners bought compost. Over 25 years, my soil level is 1 foot higher in my garden. So I stopped using commercial compost too. One thing to remember is to sterilise the soil for seedlings
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden it's not so much weeds but fungi and bacteria. They can really destroy a whole tray. Commercial compost is sterilized for that reason.
Just came across your video where did you get your raised beds from they look brilliant? Really enjoyed seeing what your up-to I’m just getting started with home vegetable patch thanks
Hi Erica really enjoyed your video my goodness you have some work todo ,but looking good what you've achieved can't wait to see next installment well done. Sweet pea. Hugs from Shropshire 🍅🥕🌽🥒😀
Wow! That new raised bed area looks so good. That feeling of accomplishment when you’ve cleared a space and actually put something there that you want instead is like nothing else! Always so in awe of how much space you have 😍 I’d love a garden like yours one day 🤞🏻 Do you have any links to the camera equipment and mic you use? No worries if not!
You probably won't need to take cuttings of your raspberries - in favourable conditions (I.e. woodland edge) they are pretty much thugs & will send out underground "runner" roots. Adding to your stock is no problem, the only problem is containing them!
I got 5 herb plugs, and 2 healthy costmary's to add to my balcony. The little tarragon is a bit puny so I put a jar over it like a cloche as it was getting a bit wind blown. Raspberries are lovely, much better than strawberries in my opinion. Thought of growing comfrey?
Hi Erica, very impressed with the size of your garden/land, obviously a marathon not a sprint but you seem to have it all planned so the best of luck. One question if I may, you mentioned 12 cherry plumb trees for circa, do you have any details please? KR's Danny
Just checked and the last day for ordering is today, here is the link www.pomonafruits.co.uk/ornamental-trees-hedging/hedging-plants/cherry-plum-hedging-12-plants
I use mushroom compost direct from the mushroom farm to fill my raised beds, it costs me £20 for about 2 ton but I have to go and pick it up with a trailer myself

Yes, make sure you take cuttings! Free plants!
Do the berries chuckle when you pick them? Chuckleberry
Haha, wouldn't that be cool? I always have the chuckle vision music in my head when I talk about them. 😂🎶

To be honest I haven't sterilised any of my compost for seedlings, you get a few weeds but nothing major.
