I bought a few really nice pumpkins from a farm last year for Halloween - kept them whole on the doorstep and a few weeks later discovered your video recipe for pumpkin wine (which is about to be bottled!) I kept and dried the seeds and planted this Spring and they are making really healthy plants. So excited to see what the pumpkins are like. Thank you for your inspiring videos, I have learned so much and introduced a friend yesterday too 😊

Let's hope all the squash grows well. I'm growing about 8 varieties, the normal butternut, kuri, Queensland blue, Merhun, sweet banana, and a few others I can't remember 😂

I growing a yellow courgette for first time a round one and romanesco which is our fave it’s a ridged strip one and was so prolific tastes amazing. I grow lots of these things that I cook down with things like onions and garlic and I freeze in poly bags to add to pizzas pasta soups and stews. I do that with squash aswell. I growing Jack be little harlequin I hori kurt trombocino are amazing if you havnt grown those you must. Also baby boo and a small courgette sized squash that I can’t remember name of. For bigger winter ones I have crown prince spaghetti mashed potato pink banana and something de Provence. So quite a few oh and one butternut which I bought. I never have been able to grow them to produce fruit so I bought a plant and planted it much sooner than the rest hoping it would get a good start as I think they take a long time to grow and fruit. So🤞I will get a butternut squash I will be happy to get just one. Oh and I growing big max for my grandchildren hoping for pumpkins for Halloween👍🙋🏻

I always recommend gardeners keep daily max/min temperature log at the very least.
I now have 5 years of data and am using that to decide planting times.

Seed packets are the law 😂😂 NOT we all need to keep in mind what our weather is and how it’s changing. Here in SW Canada we have broken the 1938 record of 34 days without any rain ☔️ it’s more than that but with little bits of rain. We never water our lawn it turns to straw in summer and comes back beautifully in fall. How are your sons fruit trees growing? Happy gardening Erica, Ali 🥵🌞🇨🇦

Hi Erica, I only put my courgettes out last week ( Yellow-Golden and Verde de Milano) and my squash are still not out. (Uchiki Kuri,Yellow Bush Scallop,Turks Turban, Crown Prince and a few Patty Pans). Just not big enough. I had two rows of peas taken by slugs so am being extra careful. It can be quite chilly here in the Borders so I tend to wait a few weeks. Just want them to grow nice and strong. I used to go by the growing instructions on the seed packets, but not any more, Happy gardening!

Great idea about making holes in the bottom of the growbags and putting them on top of cardboard, thanks Erica it's certainly something I will be doing next year, too late for this year now as everything is in and in situ. Have a great rest of the week x

Hi Erica grass clippings are great but we don’t have any grass so I have used straw and it’s worked great with spuds and strawberries and beans. You have got lots going on and you are doing really great with everything.👍🙋🏻

You should definitely sack off the weaker of the squash plants to give the stronger ones more room.

@@ericaslittlewelshgarden A couple varieties had no germination but the rest are up as little seedlings now.
I'm going to start hardening them off tomorrow and plant them out next week.

Thanks for the tour! I'm growing golden zucchini and lebanese squash. Then I have blue kuri and honey boat. The spring here in Sweden has been cold so far so the plants have not enjoyed it at all but the weather is getting better now so they will be fine I hope 😊

I break the seed packet 'laws' all the time 😆 I've planted out my Big Max and Charmant pumpkins and ornamental gourds but I've only just sown 2 varieties of squashes Marina Di Chioggia and F1 Jaune de Vert (the latter of which I'm just over the recommended sowing time really but I'm just hoping they'll grow fast as everything I'd already grown is behind where it should be anyway because of the cold nights I think)

Summer and winter squash are so rewarding to grow, growing nasturtium with them also. Yellow crooknecks for summer and Delicatas very sweet, I am trying to see if they will climb, Kutsu (a black ribby smallish 15:31 pumpkin very sweet and dense, lots of others, including a giant Candy Roaster (be prepared to share). Fun video, greeting from Oregon 🙂🌱

I got squash in growbags. Did it last year too. However , I bought Levingtons tomato type grow bags and they are awful! I don’t know what they’ve put into them as leaves are turning yellow and the growth is stunted. Think they may not have enough nitrogen.

Had the same problem two years on the trot. Eventually decided that they contained traces of weed killer or compost accelerator. Don’t use any growbags now.
