    You say it’s not interesting but it shows us that we are in the same boat as you say….. and that you are an average human instead of someone who never fails. If anything I feel it shows how things really happen in life and it doesn’t feel made up! Lol

    Hi Erica, it's not a disaster it's gardening.
    Keep up the good work.

    I love your videos for a good dose of reality! I’ve been putting off making a video of my garden for months now because it’s just not going as well as I’d hoped 😬 It’s mainly time. I struggle to find it 🤣 I actually think loads in your garden looks good, especially the poly.

      You keep going and trying... Make that video... There isn't enough reality on social media. 💚

    Hi Erica. I'm loving watching your lovely summer veges from cold New Zealand. We also had a community garden plot, then gave it up to grow in our less than ideally situated home garden and it's taken a couple of years to get some things growing as they did in our plot. I miss going up there to get away from everything as well, so hang in there, it's definitely a big transition moving gardens, way more than we bargained for . Lemon cucumbers grow well outdoors in Auckland NZ. The vine is absolutely rampant, so the poly wouldn't be ideal for them. I find that cucumbers and tomatoes prefer a bit of shade and especially cool damp roots , rather than cook in the full sun all day long . When you think of it, hot weather plants that are understory sized wouldn't get full sun even in hot countries!🍅🥒🌶

    Your videos have been so very helpful these last 3 years when I finally had time to concentrate on gardening. I'm so appreciative of you sharing your mishaps as well as your successes - it's the best way to learn. Thanks for all the inspiration and keeping it real. Best wishes.

    If you put cardboard on top of that rabbit bedding/hay you shouldn’t have problems 🙏

    My vegetable garden has been very slow this year with many seeds just not germinating at all. Spring was cold at night here and not very sunny and now it has warmed up a bit very dry.

    All your videos are interesting because it shows just how growing can be so affected by the climate. I'm in North Wales and my onions are the same as yours. Germination of all the alliums has been poor, my lettuce has not hearted, my peas have quickly dried out and my tomatoes are at the same stage as yours. I used to put animal bedding in trenches under my potatoes. A friend had a saying "there's always next year" As gardeners we have to be optimistic. It's good to see somebody growing vegetables without buying in lots of compost.

    Hi Erika menge tout don’t freeze well as they are meant for eating raw in salads. Grow sugar snaps as the peas grow but you eat the whole pod.

    I think your courgettes will be fine. I spent a couple of weeks worrying about my spindly plants and then ……💥…… they suddenly got massive and started growing secret fruit that I don’t manage to spit until they are massive. The yellow ones are easier to manage!

    good to see what worked and what didn't. Maybe you overwatered your beans and the seed rotted. That's happened to me.

    We moved house in November and it then rained/snowed for 5 months so I only have 5 beds made at the moment so I can understand about being behind with planting. So many things to put in but first I need to remove tons of Dockweeds. I have resigned myself to just a few beds for now and I'm prepping the rest ready for next year when I'll hopefully have a polytunnel or maybe a greenhouse. Good luck with your adventure!

    Harlequin squash are small fruit I grew them 2 years ago and have a plant this year that isn’t doing that well

  • @lyndaturner6686
    @lyndaturner6686 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like the way you tell it as it is Erica, gardening isn’t always a success story, I have lots of onions but they’re small , I think half the country struggled with onions this year , my real successes this year are my courgettes grown in tubs and my climbing beans , I have already had a meal off those, anther thing doing well are my butternut squash and that is thanks to you , a few years ago you recommended the tomato halo’s so I bought some , this year I had two spare and put them over two of my squashes, they are doing brilliantly the third one that didn’t get a halo is very poor I’m sure it won’t fruit, so guess what ? more halos for next year.

    Haha, what is the purpose of the beer cans on the bamboo canes? All jokes aside, at least it was some Brew Dog ones - definitely a step above some of the low quality beers out there

    Ive definitely got some nice fat carrots forming,my first ever carrots. And got some bunches of homegrown herbs drying in my larder so doing pretty well in my 2 metre garden. Potatoes did nothing,so sowing angelica and sorrel in the tub when the seeds arrive.

    You’re full of good intentions and plant things intensely but then it all seems to die. I’m wondering if it’s just too shady in a lot of your garden.

    • @ericaslittlewelshgarden
      @ericaslittlewelshgarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the shade is a big factor but you've got to keep trying. 😁

    i only grow mange tout and sugar snap peas. my favourite mange tout is oregon sugar pod. BUT they do not freeze well. they taste really weird after being frozen, so we just eat them fresh.

  • @myrustygarden

    Crystal lemons seem to do better outside. Ours last year were prolific outside but crap inside. Cucamelons for me did way better in a big pot not outside 🤷‍♀️. Hopefully the mini bell taste ok, I grew orange hat mini last year and they were tough skinned and bla. Great tour Erica have a great weekend, Ali 🌞🥰🇨🇦

    I’ve got just a couple of mange tout in a container, but when I had mine own garden, years ago I used to grow them in the ground… they always curled a bit . I never grew them straight like we can buy in supermarkets, I don’t know why, maybe a watering problem
