My pawn will Maelstrom a single box in a cave just to get the rotten grapes inside
Pawns are secretly sadists
W pawn
sure showed that box
Even wild animals 😂
"now watch what I do your wife's box"
While maelstorm looks better in dd2 I think the meteor was so much cooler in ddda. The little twinkles when your meteors enter the atmosphere is such a nice touch.
bro facing down to the earth when casting in dd2 of course you're not gonna see it
Jajajaja this guy...
you can see the meteors in dd2 in the sky as well
u mean that one aspect, the twinkles, looks better in ddda. everything else about it, the debris, the explosions, looks way better in dd2.
Just say you are blind
Good visual upgrade but I do like just how fast the meteors come in in Dark Arisen. Them things zoomin
I wish there was a mod to make it fast like it is in DA
Footage wasn't Dark Arisen. Wasn't even Dragon's Dogma. It was Dragon's Dogma Online. The MMO spin off that didn't get a western release.
@@wetteryanWhat? DD Online had a completely different HUD, damage numbers on attacks, levels on enemies, etc. The HUD here is identical to Dark Arisen(which is essentially the same as base game for the purpose of this discussion)
@@wetteryan It is DDDA, near Cassardis.
@@wetteryanyou high, blud?
They removed Gicel tho. Was the most fun spell to use for me. Frigor might be better than before but no comparison to how epic Gicel was.
Gicel was my favorite sorc spell in the first game. Though I miss it, I do think Frigor is a worthy replacement/change.
think they changed it because it would completely fuck with CPU as DD2 already does.
@@kyero8724nah, gicel would be the least gpu demanding spell
@@kyero8724 sounds like an issue with optimization (skill issue) on the dev's part.
@pwnomega4562 very likely is or overestimating it on a engine that never did open world
They really should’ve made Warfarer the class everyone ends up as (it’s called “Arisen” in Japanese)
Allow everyone to pick 2 vocations they have maxed out and have 3 skills for each with Rearmament switching between them
So the old Strider would just be a Warfarer using Thief + Archer
I miss Mystic Knight, I ended up going full cope mode with Warfarer using Mace+Shield and Archstaff, using Augural Flare like Grand Cannon
There is a mod for that
I ended up basically running a strider build with warfairer through to the end.
A bit disappointed with what they did to the sorcerer, I was kinda hoping they'd add in a new big spell like a thunderstorm or a flaming maelstrom, and they took out my favorite spells brontide(lighting whip) and fulmination,I hope they'll bring these two back in future dlc
Disappear or disappointed? 💀
Archer was also ruined with the usable arrows made into skills which can occupy one of the 4 skill slots we have..
@@h3llofademon Honestly, as a Ranger main shooting ten explosives arrows at once in DDDA, I can confidently say that the nerf was much needed. Buying hundreds of explosive arrows is akin to paying Yojimbo in FFX to kill any enemy including the super boss.
MIASMA! 😭EXEQUY! 😭 GRAND GICELLLLL Huhuuuuhh 😭
@@bukojoetheslapsoils8273 As a ranger player, gotta agree, especially since how strong explosive shot still is. As a ranger and archer primary in DD1 the thing that mattered to me the most was the kickboxing stuff to achieve the fantasy of a highly acrobatic archer rather then only stand stationary and fire like a generic dragon age game.
Too bad they removed so many spells. I also wish that you could vary your cast time for meteor like you could in the first one so that you could only cast a couple of them instead of waiting the entire animation
Also you can't manually cast a spell at a location, you have to be aiming at something. Like if I want to cast at the middle of a group of enemies I can't now I have to pick one of them
And you have little control over where you are targeting. No more the days of casting Maelstrom from the distance before the group of enemies started attacking you. Also, now Maelstrom doesn't pull targets from the outer range, so if the enemies get slightly out during the time you start spinning your staff until the spell lands, they are safe and you wasted all that time for nothing.
@@GabrielPassarelliGOh wow, that sucks...
Honestly getting instagibbed by bandit mages in BBI who used the spell was most likely the source of that change lol. BBI consisted of small condensed spaces which made getting away from the sucktion a nightmare though too so who knows.
@@IHMyself lol
@@GabrielPassarelliG yeah I feel like they removed a lot of the range on it
i'm using mods on DDDA and I gotta say that the magick experience is better here.
I'm just surprised that a game made 10+ years later is a sidegrade
Modders have always improved games better than the devs themselves.
Give it time
The magic feels a lot better in 2, but the variety in spells, or lack there of is unfortunate.
@@cannedsquasher5923 the only mods for DD1 are graphics and a cheat mod. The engine is so bad there's no gameplay mods to improve the actual gameplay. It's just legitimately just as good and better in other aspects as the sequel.
@@hipcheckboiii1603 Wrong! There are tons of DD2 gameplay overhaul mods to change how the vocations play (e.g 8 skills instead of 4, unique skillsets per weapon for Warfarer, better levitate, mixing movesets across vocations, etc.)There's an incredible Spell Maker mod to create your own spells, an Enemy Randomizer mod to change the enemy variety and sizes of creatures, and true difficulty mods for NG+/endgame which change the stats, attack behaviours and abilities of enemies. Amazing mods are being released and it's barely been out for a month.
@@hipcheckboiii1603 there are gameplay mods for the first one though, like the one allowing warrior to use 6 skills or the one that added an unarmed vocation
NGL, this actually makes me wanna play DDA...
If you haven't, you should. It's a fantastic game that holds up to this day. There's much to still appreciate.
Masterworks all, you can't go wrong!
I've learned of beasts
@@Samurai_Stoner SOAKED to the bone!
Its a great game with what seems like more content
You can see some tech upgrades, like the meteor tails not disapearing or stoping when they touch the ground, or the twisters looking less solid.
This video has convinced me that I need a BG3 battle music replacer mod for Dragons Dogma
Ah, yes. The Megumin build.
expuwlowsion!
Disappointed that they cut out your second set of skills
I keep seeing this. Most of second set of skills were moved to being combos instead of button presses. So they’re still there, you just activate them differently.
@@vee7514they could of done that without reducing the skills. Stop coming up for excuses for Capcom’s but making a true sequel.
@@robertrainford6754 how is this an excuse?
@@robertrainford6754 skill issues.

The early griffin gets the worm!
Wolfs hunt in packs ... oh wait!
So they say.
For some reason it felt like the upgrade to sorcerer in Dd2 isn't impactful at all, just a few new spells which doesn't do much damage and just the maelstrom. I still ended up using high levin and Frigor anyways
Try augural flare... lol
So true. Problem was that even if you wanted to use other spells you did not have enough slots to use them
@@Fairy-Uvinq augural flare + hagol delete everything save for golems
@@triggerhxppy its incredible lol. That spell is insane
@@ExcessumGamingI kninda disagree I feel with how common camsites are I feel a lot more open to trying new arufd and experimenting, especially since theres lots of great spells and they’re well balanced (fir the most part) so there isn’t a stale meta on what to use.
nice sound effects, really adds to the experience
Maelstrom, the hiding in the corner then continously casting it to klll a boss move.
I like the dda because you can see the sparkles in the sky where the meteors are coming from which is awesome really makes you feel powerful idk if dd2 has that
I actually really like how they made the fireballs shoot off like a mortar round in 2. Makes more sense then you just getting yoinking surprisingly tiny meteors that happen to be someplace close to the planet.
But if you say this to the DD2 haters they'll still find some way to tell you you're wrong
Lightning Whip
was so fucking excited for this one : (
The Sorcerer feels hella mid compared to other vocations in DD2, or even compared to the Sorcerer in DD1. You get 12 skills in total, 4 of which are shared with the mage and 2 are locked behind long questlines. Then there's the lack of any interesting and involved game mechanic like the other vocations have, no unique blocking or dodging or timing your hits. Nope, you get an ability to cast faster and regen stamina. Nice. I like standing in place and pressing 3 buttons. And the new spells aren't even cool, just some run-of-the-mill elemental attacks, with the exception of the flare, which is entirely busted.
I'm not even mad, just disappointed.
I agree, although yeah technically the sorcerer was kind of like this in the first game too because this is the nature of most mage casting focused classes. Still I wish they could have done more with it and not removed spells. (And vocations, mystic Knight)
sorcerer is so mid, shakes head
It's still strong. Augural flare is easily the strongest attack in the game, though it needs a bit of a setup. Very good for wayfarer combos to just have archestaff just to put it up before attacking with something fast. But I feel you, man.
Huuu i dont think so i played with sorcerer and the game was so easy like the dragon didnt had a chance to kill any of my pawns it tooked me like 3 mins or less to kill him..
@@lhenio1845 the strength isn't even the issue. I know that you can nuke enemies easily as the sorcerer, it's just how it feels to play it.
Hearing BG3 battle sountrack with DD2 combat makes me realized that they kinda dropped the ball a bit on the music.
Yup. I don't remember a single song. Unlike the first game I can remember at least a couple
It’s funny because I’ve never heard the new soundtrack. I’ve only used the old one
@@Lust4VAlENTiNE i'll be honest with you, you've already heard the new soundtrack as you are now, it's pretty much nothing
@@djbootymeatlive1484 Ngl sometimes I just sit on the title screen so I can hear the classic Dark Arisen track. It's a shame I heard so much bad about the new soundtrack that I probably won't switch off the OG.
I heard only the orchestral composer from DD1 returned and the other composers are new to composing or something like that
I can't see shit whenever my pawn sets these spells off.
The sheathe button should've been a second skill set button.
4 skills per class makes the game less fun.
They could have even done like the witcher 3's alternate control scheme and made a tab of lb/r1 a skill in itself. 4 skills is very limiting.
Just to further add, when you got games like Final Fantasy 16 having a rather creative way to have multiple skill sets by being also able to assign a Eikon to each one despite only having 2 skills per, you end up with a whooping 6, plus 3 more with the eikon special gimmick or 3 sets of skills which can be swapped quickly in-between to allow DMC level of combat.
Just another reason i wont be picking up this game because i already have the `controller gameplay `memory hot-swapping distance` as i would call it (aka you forget the controls are mapped differently) when it comes to Final fantasy 7 rebirth and grand blue fantasy relink where how they have the controls mapped tends to jar me a smidge in some ends. Even if i could remap the controls with some of them.
Anyway, i find the first one definitely looks more good where the camera shake feels more wow and its got the camera better zoomed out so you can really see the impact of the spell. While it kind of looks like the latter either looks roughly the same or more static, such as the tornado in DraDog2 feels a smidge more static on ends.@@briancaples5614
Facts everytime I bring this up people mistake the statement as meaning I want more so I can be overpowered or something but in reality I just want access to a fun and diverse moveset.
@@obwolf yup, when a game can’t embrace the goofy, it’s no wonder why it has trouble being a fun game.
If you played warrior in the first game you only hot access to 4 skills and same for daggers technically though you also had the bow that had its skills.
Ngl the thing I got most hyped for when I heard of DD2 was making Megumin with the long casting time so I could do the _EX-PLOOOSION!!!!!_
That is an incredible shot of Brontide. I never knew there flashes of light in the sky that herald the coming of the meteors from space.
Brontide is the lightning whip. Not the meteors.
DD1 art style is amazing, still holds up well, DD2 just got most of what was done and gave some HD treatment
Masterpiece
All these spells make for great screen captures.
*smallpp casually walks into screen at start of video* So this is how I start my morning
Can’t wait to play
Only thing i missed is not being able to use that one warrior move that increases damage when getting hit by enemies while charging but i get why they removed it. It's just an alternative to the currwnt charged slash so it doesnt add much other than charged slash with extra comditions
Visually 2 is impressive! Impactful goes to 1. Mortar shots in 2 vs METEOR in 1.
If i remember if you lucked out in the Dark Arisen dlc you could get rings to upgrade almost every spell too 👀 it turned them into 3rd tier magics
0:23, 1:05 Adding BG3 soundtrack really make the scene epic asf!!
May i know the bgm you used for DD2 clips?
Playing the bg3 fight music... pretty cheeky 😂
I feel there's something missing on some of the skill animations of the other class. Ryota Suzuki which is DD's battle designer is now working on Final Fantasy (Square Enix). I think it's one of the reasons.
Definitely the new one😊
Meteoron my beloved
Ah yes, medieval air strikes...
What is the music at 0:17? the link in the description takes to a channel instead of actual music :(
Cool Video!
Both look good
The camera is better in Dragon's dogma
look cool, i love this game
What was all of the music in this video? Was it all from DD2?
What about cascade battery mystic knight... i miss that shit.
Lack of mystic knight saved me $70
@@DD-to5ig magick spearhand is an awesome class with tons of tools... instead of mystic knight, which is buff your party and smack your own balls in front of the enemy

bro why did the original tornado look like a fucking wacky waving inflatable arm tube man?
Sorcerer doesn’t have a vocation action. They now also only have 4 skills. Oh and they have less skills to choose from.
Wtf Capcom
They kinda did that to everyone
@@bridgerbutler661 Caster vocations were especially affected by that. All the other classes had pretty good skills integrated into the core skills while the same thing cant really be said about the casters, aside from Anodyne on Mage. The elemental diversity in your Skillset that you're effectively able to use is nowhere near as good as it used to be
@@handofgod3278 casters have levitate
Physical vocations have better core skills which a lot came from the equippable skills. Sorcerers and mages do not have these kind of upgrade. Who uses the normal and heavy attacks without flare. They need slots.
Their vocation action is quickspell, but you're right on the other two points. Genuinely upsetting
I wish the tornado behaved the same. and can you still the twinkle in the sky with the meteors?
There was a pawn called, “smallpp” from DD1 clip
With how massive the game world is and how many enemies, npcs, large monsters, and interactables there are in areas now I totally get why some of the spells and such were a bit toned down. and they are still pretty awe inspiring
I feel high bolide is better than meteoron in animation and execution, cause with bolide you don’t really have to aim it’ll auto aim, and the animation where you swing the staff feels more purposeful and the camera looking up to where the fireballs launch up to is just really cool.
1:11 Oh hey, the new Twisters movie came out.
As a Great Sword only Warrior, I really hated golems until my Sorc pawn learned Meteoron. I just wish she'd cast it faraway like I always teach her, cause for no reason she just starts casting it under the guy's legs.
2012 spells were like barely restrained forces of nature while 2024 spells are just ugly particle effects.
I noticed that maelstrom doesn't suck the enemies into its range anymore though, am I wrong?
It does it just has a shorter range I think. Cause I've seen enemies get yoinked inside it's.
380mm barrage be like
What are you and your pawn wearing in DD2?
Its really op
what is that epic music in the 2024 dogma?
edit: it's from bg3 apparently.
give DD2 12 years and maybe, just maybe, it'll run as well as DD1 does.
I like the look of old Maelstrom better, tbh it looks a lot like a water spout and I got to see one of those IRL and that shit was cool.
It was really far away but still neat as hell. The big new hurricane thing in the new animation looks less interesting to me.
I dont know if there's high or grand versions in 2 but I assume maelstrom would looks bigger
This looks so cool😮i watched dd2 boss fight clips and thought wow this game suck, but playing mage build seems so much fun in your video, i might be too harsh on dd2
what are you trying to communicate?
The new meteor is better, but i really like how you can SEE the meteor coming down from space in the original.
I made fern from frieren journeys end in dd1 and the first i saw her use the meteors i was so shocked and saying damn chill
Ngl DD1 looks sick for a 2012 game!
The best memories of dragons dogma i had was using a lightning whip spell to kill my first Ogre gosh it was so much fun like DD is the only game where I'd pick a mage and say "its time to have some fun" cause the spells are so chaotic 🤣
Okay I love that the music artist's channel is linked... but what's the actual song? Guess I'm just gonna have to listen to all of them.
***Update***
Found it. It's the GigaSlayer and uunnff.
The only thing this game needed was ragdolls, now its perfect
I think the animations look better in the first game. The graphics might be better now but the distortion effects make it harder to see enemies when you’ve casted I basically have to back off till they are done to resume attacking
such cool game hly damn
wow, now that's a meteor shower!
I had no idea Dragon's Dogma has such amazing spells. Probably because I never care to play mage. 😕
we got some nice clothing for women in DD2, I approve.
the hair doesnt go through all the way!
Spell? Which spell? I think I got distracted....
I appreciate the FF16 music. Favorite Final Fantasy to come out since X.
J’ai été déçu de voir qu’il n’avait pas ajouté les sorts de DON, celui qui permettait de mitrailler avec des pointes de glace était incroyable
What is the music for dragon Dogma 2 ?
BG3 soundtrack - Twisted Force
and both are good enough, isn't it?
i want my Gicel Spell Back
I miss gicel, the optimal Hydra decapitator
Wish the game run like the first too preformence wise
I did feel they did sorc bit dirty due to promoting other classes
Artillery
My most fave skill from DDDA Petrifaction is gone in DD2?
Wish Maelstrom was actually as powerful as in DDDA. In DD2 it can't suck, it can't twist around and is locked behind a quest. They even removed Gicel!
I wanna buy Dark Arisen now
The area of damage and impacts are better in DD2 for meteor storm. And cyclone looks way better in DD2
What role is this? Sorcerer?
dont worry its all in the dlc ...
Dg: DA version it's just Stormcloak Catapult/ Airstrike
Spells certainly look nicer but there's a lot I'm missing in dd2. I hadn't looked up much about this game until a bit ago and found out my favorite vocation Mystic Knight was gone. Big sad.
Mystic Spearhand is nice but MK was still a blast. Hopefully it'll come back as DLC or something along with some of the other spells. Like a classic pack of extra stuff from ddda updated for nostalgia and stuff.
I feel like most changes made to casters were for balance reasons but I still miss the older Meteorain and they should have kept all spells.
technically they buffed the crap out of bolide. Before only 3 hits were sure to hit a target now they all hit close together however now it won't hit inside a cave
There is a visible upgrade this time around, but OG is still holding up real well.
i love capcom
The older footage is not from Dragons Dogma. Its Dragons Dogma online. The shortlived MMO. Great game but looks totally different. Online has a bit of anime style sprinkled in. You can really tell with the character animations. They are a bit more flashy and poppy. Hard to explain but easy to see.
Are you really sure? The mage and sorcerer gameplay is quite different from Dragon Dogma Online....
Also it's quite obvious this is Dragon Dogma UI, and that look like cassardis beach.
Actually if you look even even closer you can see it’s neither but it’s actually Dark Souls. Very easy to miss.
