      First trip to Vegas in 2021, I purchased the four day monorail ticket. I used it SO many times, just loved the convenience. I do agree that there is a lot of walking to get to the station, but it is out of the heat if it's too hot outside. Used my phone to get on the train, easy, quick and convenient, highly recommended.

    One of the reason the trams are not connected was they own by different companies before when they were build. From business point of view, the casino want their customer stay in their hotel and not go anywhere else.
    Can they connect them together now since most are either own by MGM or Caeser Group? Of course they can, but this will go back to my pervious point. Casino like Luxor want their customer to stay in the hotel and spend their money there, not just stay for their cheaper room rate and spend their money at Aria and Bellagio etc. Also, their trams might be a different type, they might need to redo the whole system for one or two of them. That could be a lot of $$$$.
    Of course I love to see them connected together, but I don't think it will happen any time soon.

      Interesting perspective. Thank you for the comment. Since the mgm hotels are all near each other seems like it would be good to have an mgm loop like an air port air train loop that goes to different terminals. They can exclude cedar properties and still benefit. There are pros and cons to connecting them but I think of it was easier to get from the mgm Mandalay Bay to center strip bellagio, more people would be willing to stay at Mandalay for the peace and quiet but still have access to center strip action.

    If you're going to/from downtown to/from the Strip (or airport) - take the 108 bus along Paradise (a block east of the Strip). Cheaper and faster than the Deuce - plus it goes right to/from the airport. Downside - it only runs every 30 minutes.

      You can also take the 109 which runs along Maryland Parkway (a mile east of Paradise). It runs more often than the 108 but it is busier (slower) and you need to go in the right direction because the airport isn't at the end of the route. North goes downtown. South goes to the South Strip Terminal where you can transfer to the Deuce.

    Regarding "from Mandalay Bay to Bellagio": the tram actually has two stops at Excalibur so you wouldn't have to walk through the entire casino of Excalibur unless you get out at the first stop. If you wait until the second stop you're actually outside of the casino at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas boulevard were you can exit and take the bridge directly up to New York.
    Also there are a total of three free trams. The third is between the Mirage and Treasure Island

    • @TravelMaximizer
      @TravelMaximizer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for your comment! It's true that the second stop on the Excalibur tram from The Luxor isn't widely known, but it can be quite handy if you're in the know. The first stop does tend to be more popular with travelers. As for the tram between the Mirage and Treasure Island, it's primarily designed for hotel guests wanting quick access between the two properties. For those strolling along the Strip, it might not be the most practical option, and I aim to create concise and informative videos. However, I always welcome additional insights and suggestions from viewers in polite and thoughtful comments. Your input is greatly appreciated!

    When I stayed at the Flamingo 2 years ago, I wish I did try the Monorail. Next month I'll probably get a chance. The only thing I don't like about it is that it serves one side, but it's still a very quick option. We're staying at NYNY this time though, so being inbetween both trams I think is pretty awesome.
    We took the Deuce out to Fremont Street and they tended to be rather crowded each time we got on. Sometimes it feels like a Lyft/Uber is faster and depending, it feels cheaper anyway when you consider the eventual cost of tickets.

    I’ve used all of these. The first time was nearly all walking; I learned to not wear shoes that weren’t well broken-in. This was 1991 snd there weren’t any trams or monorail yet. There were just the regular busses and not The Deuce. I wouldn’t have known to take them if they had existed. The trams are nice if limited. The Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay Bay one was kind of odd when I’d used it. One direction, it was non-stop between Excalibur and Mandalay Bay but the opposite direction made stops at all three. It was just as easy to take the interior walkways between them, honestly.
    The Monorail is nice but it only services certain resorts and only on the east side of the Strip. Still, it’s convenient if you can remember which casinos are across from each other to take it, go through the casino, take a pedestrian bridge (or cross the street if there isn’t one) to get to places on the other side.
    What would be ideal would be to close the Strip to regular traffic and build a tram in the median that cycles from north to south and back again, making several stops along the way. Much more pedestrian-friendly

    My wife and I were in Vagas 4 days ago. Stayed at the D in downtown Vagas. We traveled up and down the strip on the Deuce yes, buses were full in the evening, so we just waited 10 minutes or less for the next bus. They were clean as well. A little bit of a waiting was fine with us. This was during the time that the strip was under preparation for F1. It was not perfect, but it was not an inconvenience either.

      Interesting to hear your perspective. I just got back from Vegas yesterday and did not have good experiences using The Duce. With the construction on the strip, the buses were always late and bunched up. I ended up buying a multi day pass for the monorail and using it to get around more than the bus (stayed at Planet Hollywood, so it made using the monorail a bit more convenient than if I would have been staying on the other side of the Strip). Yes, there’s a bit of walking involved to get to/from the monorail, but still better than waiting for what feels like an eternity for the bus. Obviously, there were times when I had to take the bus, such as to Fremont Street and the Las Vegas sign. Going to the Las Vegas sign, I waited nearly 40 min for the bus to finally show up; not fun in the 115 degree heat. Looking back, I should have taken an Uber/Lyft. Going to Fremont Street, I took the monorail between the Sahara and the Horseshoe and the bus between the Sahara and downtown. I couldn’t wait to get off the bus at the Sahara coming back from downtown so I didn’t have to listen to the drunk/homeless people arguing with each other.

    As a longtime Las Vegas resident, I find the Deuce to be the best option by far. The spacing is just fine. It's simply that nobody can predict when a large group will fill up a bus, making it go zipping past multiple stops and appear to be timed too close to the bus in front, and when it will have lots of room, and be stopping at every stop as one would expect. Stuff happens. The waits aren't long at all unless you're in off-hours. The cleanliness is also fine.

    • @TravelMaximizer
      @TravelMaximizer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s interesting to hear from a resident. Thank you for the comment. I wonder if the service is different on the strip vs the rest of the city. I have been all over Vegas now and the city is larger than I thought. Though it’s mostly large open streets with few houses on each block so perhaps the strip is more of city itself. I can image the bus working very well for the residents who don’t have a car or prefer not to drive.

    I’ve done all of these options over the years. The free monorails are fine but there still is a bit of walking in between the casinos. Same for the Las Vegas monorail. It’s pretty efficient but you have to walk all the way back through the casinos and back out again so there still a bit of walking. The Deuce bus is not a bad option. It’s relatively inexpensive but right now with all the construction and traffic its slow getting down the strip. Uber is not too bad in Las Vegas but they get stuck in traffic too.

    I've found the Deuce to be the most useful for Strip travel, but it is the city bus & you should know that going in. Public transit can be an adventure.
    Monorail is great, but limited - and unreliable in rainy winter conditions. If you're up at the Sahara/Westgate area or need to get up there from the Strip, it's golden, but otherwise not really useful - especially considering the walk to the rear of some casino and back. I've seen Monorail cars stuck on the tracks for over an hour in the cold rain. Maybe have a pee and grab a drink before boarding if it's gloomy out. Oh, and you do get some great views from there.
    Free trams are nice and all, but super limited for destinations. Hyperloop is promising and works well within the CC. It's being expanded at the moment, and should be opening stops at the Westgate and Resorts World awful soon. Legend has it that it will go to downtown and the airport at some point in the future.

Just wait in the lobby and the loyalty meter grows on its own. You get capped out on loyalty points after about 1.5 hours and need to wait till 8pm or 8am United States Eastern time to rack up points again. I tested the methods with an old cell phone I had laying around, so I didn't tie up my main phone. By the way, the reason I even tried this technique is that I don't quite enjoy cell phone games, but I do like rewards! Thanks again for the tip. The Monorail is great when you want to cover the broader Strip beyond the most densely-populated touristy crowds. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever if you're staying on the central Strip and base your entire trip around the central Strip like many tend to do, but for those who are more adventurous and want to live a little beyond center Strip I find the Monorail a great option. 🙂
    The Deuce simply isn't worth it if you're using it exclusively to get from one Strip resort to another. You're simply better off walking in this context. But if you're using the Deuce to get to the Fremont Street Experience, I do think it'd worth it in that context. It can sometimes be tedious and even smothering a commute, but it still beats paying more for an Uber.
    I've never seen any real use value in the trams personally. It may just be because I'm a fast walker, but even so how much ground are you REALLY covering with any of them? A pretty negligible amount if you ask me. But I guess the novelty of doing it just to say you did is certainly there for first-timers. 🙂
    All in all walking is EASILY my favorite of the four options, followed easily by the Monorail. I personally enjoy walking all the way from Mandalay Bay to Sahara at least once every trip (or vice-versa), and it's a great way to get steps in and keep those alcohol and sugar calories in check I've found, as well as keep a pulse on all the exciting changes up and down the ever-shapeshifting Strip. 😇

    Completely agree. However, the Monorail all day price should be half the price. If it was $6 for a 24 hour period, many more tourists would use it. $15 a day is just enough to discourage people from using and they walk instead. I've never understood why it's always been so expensive. The entire route is only 4 miles. You would think the casinos would subsidize the monorail so the fare would be minimal considering it's a great way to bring in tourists to the casinos since you have to walk through a casino to get to most of the stations since the stations are located behind the casinos.

      The bus may be hit or miss now. Still always seems packed and slow. Those are the two deal breakers for me. It does save walking if you don’t mind waiting in the sun, the bus stops don’t seem to be sheltered

      Have fun! By the way if you have Marriott status, soon you can status match over to mgm. MGM Gold and above gets resort fees and parking free. That’s a big savings I just made a video on that. It was a short. Thanks for the comments

    They just need to start boring a tunnel under the strip the full length for a subway.

    Horrible public transit. Monorail could be so good if it ecxtended to the airport and downtown

    • @TravelMaximizer
      @TravelMaximizer  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would put taxis and uber out of business. I’m sure the city makes a lot of money from that too. Airport is so close too. Right across the street from Luxor but you can’t walk!
