Classic Pandesal Recipe | Soft and Fluffy Pandesal

  • This is the softest Pandesal recipe you will ever try! The secret to make super soft Pandesal is to use margarine instead of butter!
    😊Recipe:
    ❤️ 1 cup + 3 tablespoons warm water
    ❤️ ¼ cup margarine
    ❤️ 1 egg
    ❤️ 2 tsp active dry yeast
    ❤️ 4 cups all purpose flour (you can add up to 3 tablespoons more flour if your dough is too sticky)
    ❤️ 1/2 cup sugar ( you can add less sugar if you want Pandesal less sweet)
    ❤️ 2 tsp salt (if using unsalted margarine. If you are using salted margarine, don't add any more 1 tsp of salt or your Pandesal will be too salty.)
    ❤️ 1/2 cup bread crumbs

    I have made this 4 times now ( once for myself, second time for my sisters birthday, third for work and the 4th time because my co workers begged me to make it again haha!!) and I made a TH-cam account just to share my experience with this recipe:
    1. First its so soft and delicious you will become addicted!!
    2. The size of your egg makes a huge difference!! first time I used a small egg and followed the recipe exactly and it was perfect. The second time I used a large egg and I had to use almost 1/2 a cup of flour more. The third time I used a medium egg and had to add I believe 3-4 table spoons of flour until the dough just came together (should still be a bit sticky for soft bread)
    3. I tried using 1/3 cup of sugar instead of 1/2 cup for one batch and it was still good but 1/2 cup was definitely better.
    4. This is a very sticky dough, I definitely suggest using a stand mixer or bread machine to knead it!

    This is the best Pandesal recipe I have ever tried!!!! It taste exactly like the Pandesal from the bakeries in Philippines. Its soo darn soft and fluffy!! I'm making it for the second time in 1 week because my family eats it right away haha the second batch is in the oven as we speak. Thank you for this amazing recipe, I'm going to be making these for my family for years and recommending it to all of my friends!! If you are debating whether to try this recipe or another, use this one. Trust me, I've tried probably a hundred recipes and this is the softest, most authentic tasting Pandesal!

    UPDATE:
    I made this again yesterday and accidentally added 1 tsp of salt even though I used a salted margarine and it turned out delicious haha so I'd add a 1 tsp of salt regardless of the kind of margarine you use!

    U said in description , instant yeast...but in video u actually used active dry yeast. How do I adjust po?

      Thank you for catching that I didnt realize I wrote instant yeast in the description! I just changed it 😊 my original recipe is 2tsp active dry yeast but if you want to use instant yeast use 25% less so it would be 1.5 tsp instant yeast.

    What can I substitute egg with?.. I am allergic

      You can just leave the egg out :) It wont be as tender, but it will still be soft. I've done it a few times when I've ran out of eggs!
