Gained another sub here, man! I hope you blow up! Your demeanor, content and especially quality of video are fantastic! So I have got to know, what camera did you use to shoot this video? Cheers!
A few misconceptions: -Keep the shields, they will protect the rubber joints from the heat of the brakes. The heat will kill the joints from the racetrack. -Rubber lines don't deflect remotely close enough to notice. Regular braided lines also have to be replaced every 2 years. -XP8 pads are not enough for the heat this car is going to generate on the racetrack, XP10 at the least, XP12 recommended with that horsepower and weight. -Don't use race pads if you are scared of brake noises -Only use steel nuts for the wheel -Lastly, stickers don't matter, it's a performance part, not stance nation rice club.
you forgot to mention the front bias the car will now have affecting it's performance at the track. It's good to have good front brakes but when you neglect the rears and the fronts are doing all the work you're basically hurting your track times especially on turns when the nose will dive forward every time you brake.

Would this modification fit a 2005 blob eye usdm wrx? And Do you think that this is better than a jdm caliper swap? I’m trying to get as much information about this modification. Thank you so much for the video !’
Kind sir, you speak very clear and don't say uhm every other word. Thank you for that! Also, very nicely detailed and quality video. TH-cam needs more tutorials like this.
How about proportioning from front to rear? There is a factory proportioning valve so when you press the break pedal it sends specific pressure to the front and to the rear. Now that the front has changed the rear will need to be compensated for.
@@BlakesGarage good to know. Once I'm done with the upgrade I'll try and lock them up without ABS and if the rear locks up first I put a new prop valve in.
I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and I still can't figure out why your channel hasn't blown up yet! all your videos are good and really informative..anyway I look forward to the review and if they turn out to be decent it looks like that's my next upgrade for my forester.
I don’t usually subscribe to any channel but this video has been extraordinarily helpful to me and I like what you are doing so I’m subscribed... thank you for all the detailed work and the amazing video quality. Would be awesome to see you post links for the 15+ rotors but they can be found. Thank you again
Hey would you happen to know what size the tap is?? It didn’t come with the used kit I bought so now I’m stuck and sadly I know this video was years ago 😅
Hey man what’s up l. Now did the swap on my FRS can you tell me what rim you using an the offset on the rim most important looking forward to your response
Great video! Are you going to post a review of how good or bad they actually perform? Very curious to see how you like them because you drive your car hard.
i pretty much hate all car channels other than mcm lol, but i dig this one. has some good info and what not. Probably end up doing this brake swap on my car in the near future.
Did you install the long thin pin that goes through both the of the brake pad retaining pins? It goes through the holes of both of them to ensure that they won't back out?
Didnt look through so not sure if it was mentioned or not but it looked like you but the hardware in the caliper upside down. The little curves in the spring are ment to go under the slides. It might work the way it is but it might cause abnormal wear
Awesome video! I wish I knew this a year ago when I had to change out my rotors... StopTech slotted and drilled sport rotors don't even compare the a big brake kit and calipers...
Okay so how have they worked so far? I noticed the brake pad hangs over the rotor a little did that affect anything? Did you have any other problems with the pads?
Hey man I hate to ask a dumb question but, the links to amazon for the caliper assembly are linking to a different part number than what you have listed in the description. Are those correct or do I need to look for the proper part number elsewhere? Thanks!
Thank you sir - appreciate it. Try to shop from Amazon when I can since I love prime, but being somewhat technically disinclined wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything stupid and making my life harder than it needed to be ;)
Great vid! I have all the parts to do this myself, but I am trying to find that T-Handle adapter for the threading bit. Where did you get the one you use?
really diggin these vids bud. I feel like Im right there with ya. Thanks for the detail and step by step instructions. I'm looking at a new STI in a few months, and its nice to know I can do this stuff myself!
got a theoretical question about the wheel spacer, i'm assuming its only like 5mm, but can't you just install 5mm Washers in between the brake mounting bracket and the new caliper. Like where the 2 bolts go, that way the pads can still be even? I think it would eliminate the need for a spacer, and it would push out the caliper 5mm instead of the rotor 5mm if that makes sense. I think that's what i'm going to try when i install this kit to avoid using the spacer and extended lugs. Thanks for the install vid btw!
+Brian Lee no do not do that. They make a spacer for a reason and it's hubcentric. Putting washers behind the wheel is not a good idea at all. Also washers are almost never the same thickness.
Brian Lee wouldn't work anyway. the caliper is already too far out, that's why You're spacing the rotor out. the alternative would be to move the caliper in, but you can't because it's already up against the steering knuckle.
I really want to do this but I wonder if I should wait...my car is still pretty new < 10k mi and I want to do things that are more "warranty" friendly and people always recommend doing things like brakes/suspension. With nothing wrong with either I probably should be a little more patient. Maybe I'll just start slowly piecing this together over time so it doesn't seem like so much at once...even though this is already far cheaper than a traditional bbk.
Does anyone make an adapter for some even bigger brembos? Maybe from a Porsche or SRT ? I guess they need to be 114 stud pattern for starters . Btw was size (mm) are those rotors? 330?
Has anyone try using the 2015 Z06 brembo brake on their WRX/STI just curious ,also will the same setup work and what wheel offset would be the best thanks
Blake's Garage Appreciate all the in depth walk through's, reviews and hacks. Just waiting on my parts to arrive for this brake install. Keep it going bro.
Do you happen to know the size comparison of these to sti brembos? With my current wheel setup I know that I would need a 8mm spacer to clear sti brembos, so just trying to gauge if the 8mm will work with these as well or need to bump up to a 10mm. Thanks.
Hi, I am in the United Kingdom. Can’t buy the brembo brake callipers over here. Would you know if there’s a USA company that sells them and delivers to United Kingdom? Thanks love you vídeo
I'm in the stages of doing a six speed swap and the biggest wall I'm hitting is finding brembos that aren't super expensive. Will these BREMBOS bolt up to the GD STI chassis hub setup? If so, this makes the swap way easier
Ascent calipers are twin piston and larger diameter, and made to stop a car that weights 1000# more than an Outback and is rated for towing 2000# more. These brakes on a WRX would have the effect of throwing out a large anchor, and bolt right up with just longer mounting bolts.
+Elvis McDermott Yes it will. Like you stated just get 5x115.4 rotors. Also they have a different option at checkout for the 15+ cats swap.com bracket.
I know this video has been out for a little while and I love your series. Great info and fun. I'm planning on doing this myself with my '16 wrx but wonder if there is a difference between getting the brakes you used or if the "V" brakes are virtually the same thing or could they offer better performance? On the site it does say it's a "V" kit but I believe the ones you used are the standard CTS berm no brakes. I may be wrong...
You need to use these calipers: ACDelco 172-2587 GM Original Equipment Front Passenger Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly amzn.to/1SrwQI0 ACDelco 172-2586 GM Original Equipment Front Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly amzn.to/1U460oz They do use the CTSV calipers for some of the other car brands that they make spacers for, But the Subaru kit requires these. Check the description for all the links to the parts needed.
Did you get any pad knock back with the bigger rotor with 5x100? I had an 04 STi and the knock back was annoying. Only silver lining is that it forced me to learn left foot braking.
You ever find any options for the rear breaks? I found some that a fairly cheap part number 26692FE0408A but thats just $450 for the calipers then you need a $100 adapter and possibly new rotors, but possibly not for the rear.
question. will this exact setup work in the rear as well? out of curiosity what was the grand total price for the swap? sorry i guess i could tally it up.

When you said blow up in your comment I thought you were referring to his ej at first... I think that makes me a bit of a subie guy haha!
i know I'm kind of off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online ?
@Eddie Talon I dunno I watch on flixportal. You can find it through google :P -enrique
@Enrique Charles Definitely, been using Flixportal for since march myself :D
I love the acid green brembo logo!
What about the rear brakes? Is there a swap for that?
Anyone know what size the spacers are that come in this kit?

Matt Greenland he doesn't respond to comments.
Did you notice more travel in the pedal after the conversion?
I would have used a second wrench on the female end of the SS line to ensure a firm fit instead of using the stamped steel “ bracket.”
Removing important shields, not oiling the tap. Good stuff.
Would this modification fit a 2005 blob eye usdm wrx?
And
Do you think that this is better than a jdm caliper swap?
I’m trying to get as much information about this modification. Thank you so much for the video !’
Dude this is so awesome thanks for making this video! Screw the sti brembo swap its so expensive. Just subbed to the channel keep it up bro!
Kind sir, you speak very clear and don't say uhm every other word. Thank you for that! Also, very nicely detailed and quality video. TH-cam needs more tutorials like this.
i did the swap, all works great. I noticed my pads to overlap the top of the rotors by about 2mm. is this something you also found?
Thanks, found this helpful. Did you notice wearing on the pad a little off? Like they were sitting slightly above the edge of the rotor?
Just found your channel and just bought my first project car. It's a bugeye thanks for the tips you earned a subscriber
+Ian Jacob no prob glad you like the channel.
i love this brake upgread! i wanted to do it on my 240, but it wasn't 5 lug!
I know I love it already. The CTS-V 6 pots on the 240 are SO DOPE!!
Should make a video showing how to bleed the brembo's, since they have dual bleeders unlike the stock calipers.
How about proportioning from front to rear? There is a factory proportioning valve so when you press the break pedal it sends specific pressure to the front and to the rear. Now that the front has changed the rear will need to be compensated for.
I didn’t seem to have much of an imbalance
@@BlakesGarage good to know. Once I'm done with the upgrade I'll try and lock them up without ABS and if the rear locks up first I put a new prop valve in.
I subbed because of the beard. A real man's accessory. Also, the brakes are beast.
+MaddoxInc haha thanks for the sub man.
Thanks for the video!! Just picked up the whole kit from a dude that was selling it so now I just have to buy the break rotors
Sick

Did you ever upgrade your rear caliper or run more aggressive pad? Scoping out this upgrade for my VA WRX
Hey would you happen to know what size the tap is?? It didn’t come with the used kit I bought so now I’m stuck and sadly I know this video was years ago 😅
I don’t unfortunately unless I said it in the video
Hey man what’s up l. Now did the swap on my FRS can you tell me what rim you using an the offset on the rim most important looking forward to your response
@Blake’s Garage what size is the bolt from the front caliber the longer one I lost one of them and I want to try to find the bolt part at an orileyes
Do an update video please? Wondering about brake bias and how well the "torque vectoring" is working with these new brakes.
Great video! Are you going to post a review of how good or bad they actually perform? Very curious to see how you like them because you drive your car hard.
For that wheels set up, did you need wheel spacers to clear front brembo calipers?
i pretty much hate all car channels other than mcm lol, but i dig this one. has some good info and what not. Probably end up doing this brake swap on my car in the near future.
I love the vid but I wonder will it fit my subaru SH 2012? I know a lot of impreza parts fit but I want to be sure before making the investment.
Great video! is there a way to get these in the rear also?
Did you install the long thin pin that goes through both the of the brake pad retaining pins? It goes through the holes of both of them to ensure that they won't back out?
+MaherMic no pin on these it has a compression fitting on the end so it doesn't back out.
Nice! Just wanted to make sure you were safe man!! :)
MaherMic Thanks Buddy!
Did you make a follow up video on bedding in the breaks and if you gotting any squeeking after the install?
Didnt look through so not sure if it was mentioned or not but it looked like you but the hardware in the caliper upside down. The little curves in the spring are ment to go under the slides. It might work the way it is but it might cause abnormal wear
Out of curiosity, would you happen to have a measurement for the caliper mounting bolt spacing for the new caliper?
Nice! This is dope. Any idea if this fits the early JDM turbo gc8 stuff? I can't see why it wouldn't aye?
Yep it will work on a GC8. Check the CTSV brake swap facebook page they show a few of them done.
Blake's Garage Thanks bro! Subscribed to your feed just now btw
Sam Burrows Awesome thanks Sam!
Awesome video! I wish I knew this a year ago when I had to change out my rotors... StopTech slotted and drilled sport rotors don't even compare the a big brake kit and calipers...

Hey man I hate to ask a dumb question but, the links to amazon for the caliper assembly are linking to a different part number than what you have listed in the description. Are those correct or do I need to look for the proper part number elsewhere? Thanks!
Mitch Brenner nope those are correct. They changed it a while back on amazon had to update the link.
Thank you sir - appreciate it. Try to shop from Amazon when I can since I love prime, but being somewhat technically disinclined wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything stupid and making my life harder than it needed to be ;)
Mitch Brenner no problem! I love prime also.
Nice install ! will you put a video on about bleeding your brakes ?
I'm 5 years late but what did you do to the rears did you keep them stock or put a 2pot if so which 2pot you went with
Kept them stock and sold the car.
Thks for video could you use the kit on a 240 volvo wagon thks
Sorry, one more question Blake. How are those Brembo decals holding up under the heat of braking? Where did you get them from again?
This video is very pragmatic I love it, thanks bro. Question can this be done to my 98 legacy outback Gt 2.5?
Great vid! I have all the parts to do this myself, but I am trying to find that T-Handle adapter for the threading bit. Where did you get the one you use?
AFWeather I picked one up in a big tap and die set from Home Depot.

Hell yeah that's exactly what I make these video's for glad I can help.
Nice Video. May I know the measurement for The Caliper Bracket Between top and bottom. It 130mm or 140mm
The caliper pins should have some type of locking pin so they don't slide out(cotter pin)?
Nope not these, they have a compression piece on the end to keep them seated.
Please do a Brembo upgrade for the Subaru Impreza non WRX owners. on the 16 inch rims.
What happened to the FF2 rims? Looking for a set but they are out. Also will the stock rims work? 2011 Subaru WRX stock 17s.
do they have the rear calipers for the wrx too, and do these calipers clear the stock rims
hi man. i already have all the parts brake swa[... but do you recommend to replace the lugs before the installation of the big brakes??
I do recommend to change them out but its a quick job so doing it at the same time is fine.
How would you compare these to the STI calipers? Also will this fit behind my 17” wheels?
Those retaining pins to hold the pads, did it come with a pin to prevent it from pushing out?
You too? LOL They have a compression piece on the ends that keeps them from backing out slightly different than the STI Brembo's.

Btw was size (mm) are those rotors? 330?
serious question....how do we know these are better? what is better about them? These are just two piston.....are they much bigger?
Hey any recent updates on the brake swap, issues etc
Please do a video on a regular 2010 Impreza, brake upgrade.
a NON- WRX or non STi
Why? This will work just the same. It is exactly the same upgrade.
Can't wait for the test drive! I'm definitely nervous to bore and tap those holes for the mounting bracket.
+Code3WRX it really is a lot easier than it seems.
Great video! How did you and what did you use to paint the caliper? Thanks
+Macke Aldana just used automotive brake calipers paint. I think it was VHT.
Blake did the calipers not come with the little rubber covers for the bleeders?
+mholdr they did come with them.
Been looking forward to this episode, so sick!
Has anyone try using the 2015 Z06 brembo brake on their WRX/STI just curious ,also will the same setup work and what wheel offset would be the best thanks
Can I do the rears the same as the front? Or do I need different brackets for the rear
It’s different
Awesome video mate!
Do you know if these would fit Rota Grid R 18x9.5+38?
When you painted the calipers with the VHT, did you do the whole process of prime, paint, clear?
+Derek Youngs no I just painted the VHT black on that's it. I couldn't find VHT clear quick enough.
Blake's Garage Appreciate all the in depth walk through's, reviews and hacks. Just waiting on my parts to arrive for this brake install. Keep it going bro.

Should have left the Cadillac logo as it was from factory, it looked sweet but I don't blame you for changing it. Looks good either way!
+MaddoxInc I thought about it.
You coulda named it the CadiWREX!
MaddoxInc HAHAHA!
You’re just a crazy guy with knowledge in upgrading your subi. Very informative video. Thanks a lot
can this upgrade work on wrx 2002 and Wheel size need to replace too? Because the clearance of the bigger brake..oem on 2002 wrx is size 16..thanks..
+Hai Dao it will work but you need 18's
Wonder if this will work for the 13 Leggy 3.6 R I have the same caliper you had.
+cobra454tim yes it will work.
You must live near the sac area, I'm from Elk Grove and know Man and Ken from Detail Maniac.

Great video man can't wait to do this, better than spending 800-1000 on STI brembos
+Christopher Roldan thanks!
Does this work for 2015 wrx? Is the only thing different the lug pattern? Does that bracket from ctsv swap still work?
+Austyn Rodriguez yes, you just need 5x114.3 rotors
I have perrin 20mm spacers (adapters) and oem sti bbs wheels on my 16 Wrx.. Will this kit still work if I buy the OE 05-07 brembo rotors? Thank you
+Elvis McDermott Yes it will. Like you stated just get 5x115.4 rotors. Also they have a different option at checkout for the 15+ cats swap.com bracket.
+Blake's Garage awesome thank you and awesome video
So Blake another Subie guy here looking for Brake options for my WRX. So what about the rears???
Blake do you know if the stock wrx wheels clean this kit? Or will I need aftermarket rims as well?
+Chris Pearson Check my videos I have one posted about the stock wheels.
best subaru channel...hands down
I know this video has been out for a little while and I love your series.
You need to use these calipers:
ACDelco 172-2587 GM Original Equipment Front Passenger Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly amzn.to/1SrwQI0 ACDelco 172-2586 GM Original Equipment Front Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly amzn.to/1U460oz They do use the CTSV calipers for some of the other car brands that they make spacers for, But the Subaru kit requires these. Check the description for all the links to the parts needed.
Did you get any pad knock back with the bigger rotor with 5x100? I had an 04 STi and the knock back was annoying. Only silver lining is that it forced me to learn left foot braking.
nope, no pad knock.
Do you have to use longer studs? Also how did you get the cadiliac logo off?
You don’t have to at all. I painted the calipers and added a Brembo sticker
Do the pads sit flush on top of the rotor? By that I mean if, 100% of the pad sitting on the rotor?Great vids!
Yeah they seem to be spot on.
Oh question man. Do you know if they sti pads will fit inside these brembos ?
No check my links for the appropriate pads.
When I cross referenced the part numbers they were the same...
Man that's a cool conversion! They look the same as Evo Brembo's. Sweet video
What about the rear calipers. Did you use 2007 sti calipers?
Any options for rear brakes? 15+wrx
$860.95 for everything new. Including the race pads and steel braided lines front and rear. But you do it for as little as $606.19
+Blake's Garage nice and this will work in the rear as well as the front? outrageously good deal. was going to buy those feal 441s but might need to capitaliaze on the brakes 1st.
Jacob Prince Yeah they are both a good choice.
need some help
i wanna use those calipers on my 98 civic, what should i use for the bracket?
+youssef kamel not sure on that car but I could definitely see a market for one.
i mean i will look for an after market bracket, and if you know anything please tell me
youssef kamel If i hear anything I will let you know.
Respect for all the work and the video, but wouldn't be (alot) easier and cheaper just to get some STi gold brembos?
This is much cheaper. Also all new parts. If you get a great deal on some STI Brembos then maybe, but you run the possibility that they are stripped out and you would still need to buy new pads/rotors.
This is cheaper? How much is this? A set of Brembo gold, in europe, with rotors and pads, you can get it for 600-700€ from various respectfull sellers.
Pedro Teixeira You can do this as cheep as 600 USD for the fronts all new. For new Brembos your talking 1200 USD for the front.
Do u need the adaptor if u have the 2015 Wrx.. Would it be direct bolt on?
Yes, you still do pick them up at ctsvswap.com they have a bracket just for the 15+. No, it would be basically the same process as this.
