@AdamLZ I hope you see this comment so freaking badly. The engine oil pressure can also be low due to a small plate on the back of the block under the flywheel. On the driver's side of the engine is an oil crossover that is basically flat and has O-ring/gaskets that route the oil. As they wear down they DO flatten and you can blow an engine because the oil is not actually going through the proper channel. It still gets oil, but it will not go above a certain pressure because it starts to push past the O-rings.

I was huge into scoobies back 10-15 years ago and had built a few different gen sti’s over that time. They CAN be reliable to a point. I’ve found that gaining another 100hp is about the max you really want before having to really crack the motor open and start doing things like piston and rod combos, higher quality head gaskets and I always did cooling mods before I even messed with adding more boost. The brakes are fine for 400hp in the sti. Fueling is always just added safety as you already know. Cheap insurance no matter what. But getting it to breath better with intake and head putting goes a LOOOOONG way.
The horn at the Co-Drivers feet is so that they can honk at spectators to get them excited when you go by! Also, you gotta come up and do the Overmountain Rally in the Bristol Tennessee area, it’s a blast!
When you want to launch your Subaru, hold the revs at 4k-5k rpm. That is the sweet spot range for launching and you vary the RPM based on the surface (ex: Ashpalt - 4.5k rpm, Dragstrip 5k rpm)
As an STI owner I'm stoked to see you get this thing. If you paint/wrap it go with a Ken Block throwback theme.... like his original video. Black, with some decals.
This has to be one of the best videos in yonks. Adam you look so naturally happy and enjoying yourself. In know i had a smile from ear to ear! I definitely agree with Jimmy the blob eye needs to go on!
Car has MapDCCD central diff controller - thats a nice tool! You can tune lock ratio vs various inputs. You definitely want to check what's mapped in there to inderstand car better. And its better to connect that handvrake input to the device as well.
Can I start a petition to keep the pearl white!? I have an 07 STI and this is awesome to see come to the channel! I am not going to miss a second of the build videos!!
This. There's a company that sells full WRC-style body kits for pretty much every generation of WRX, and they look amazing. I forgot the name but I think they're based somewhere in the UK. The same company that Bucky Lasek got the body kit for his GC8 "Buckit" from.
There's plenty of time to cut it down with, it can be in the 30s or lower with better shifting points and having different gears in some of the corners. Like you don't want to have to shift early in a straight, you want to shift exiting the corner, and the end can be a gear lower with full throttle etc. Adam can at LEAST get a 30 sec pass on the rally STI
Jimmy going to his core root with the blob eye and I don’t disagree and to see Adam in a proper Subie I’ve been waiting for this for a longgggg time it’s about time Adam !! Would also love to see you build a time attack one too for the compound !! 🎉🥳
This video was awesome, Jimmy popping the launch control was hilarious . Grant’s cameo picking the car up was rad too. I love the Hawkeye and Blobeye but I agree with grant, Hawkeye is where it’s at. I’m so excited to see where this goes! Bummer about the weird dip in oil pressure hopefully it’s just the oil pump but sucks you have to pull the timing cover after the first day. Good luck Johan
Adam i would look at changing that sump to iag or killer b with the pickup and baffle windage tray. Helps prevent the oil sloshing when hard braking and fast corners keep rodney away
Hi, this car would be awesome to do like WRC Ken Block Gymkhana 1 Subaru car style, but with your preferences, maybe you can be on your journey to LZ gymkhana 😉 it's a good starting point with that car
LZ i seen this coming and i called it after you built the Safari GTR R32 sick car by the way 👌 and suggested buying a Subaru instead of using that rare Evo you have and here it is next is the pro Rally announcement so ill be waiting for that keep up the great work 👍
Congrats, I use to rallycross a focus back in the day at European Rally School, now know as the Firm. …great times You should link the off-road loop and the paved loop to make a rallycross course.
the oil pressure issue.. i think damage have been done when u bogs down on multiple starting launch... use the antilag and do full launch with half clutch on paved surface... tha rpm dip bogs down kills conrod bearing...
I can't even say for how long I've been wanting to see you get into rally. Such an awesome sport, and would be so cool to see you up in New Hampshire at the Climb to the Clouds event up Mt. Washington!
the oil pressure issue can also be cracked welds on the factory oil pick up if it is still running the stock pick up. between this and the oil pump screws backing out would be my first guesses as they are common issues
@@driverpsyche I doubt it too but you never know where people cut corners. it would be a simple check with a bore scope through the drain plug to check
14:00 - I don't think 'transmission mounts' are technically 'mounts'. more or less thats what it does, but you install it after and it supports the trans that way, thus serves more as a bracket/stabilizer "Transmission mount" would prolly be more like the actual rear face of the engine/flywheel area (my b I forget the word)
Yeah check that oil pump, but also if it doesn't already have an upgraded pickup tube that's another thing to check out as they're famous for cracking and sucking air. I personally think that the pickup side of the oil system is lacking, IAG shows that the 11mm gains flow after being ported, which indicates to me that it's cavitating on the inlet side from factory. On my shitbox project I ported a used 11mm oil pump, but also ported the block where it transitions into the pump inlet as it had sharp edges where it's just drilled through. I have solid 60+psi oil pressure to redline with that setup, stock pressure spring. Looks like a really nice car otherwise! Love that it has a good equal length header and not the stupid cast iron thing.
Jimmy testing everything out has to be the funniest part of the video lmfao
Didn't tell Adam about the anti lag at all🤣🤣
Jimmy was right blob eye is best
“What kind of gas is in this thing? Smells exotic”

It has launch controll 😂 he just never used it
Jimmy trying to crawl into the Rally car priceless 👌 😂
I saw the keep it reet trailer and the VL! Tell me the Barra wags had a run around the compound!
The wix cabin air filter is real important on a rally car 😂
As an STI owner I'm stoked to see you get this thing. If you paint/wrap it go with a Ken Block throwback theme.... like his original video. Black, with some decals.
i agree with jimmy blob eye is the way to go
This has to be one of the best videos in yonks. Adam you look so naturally happy and enjoying yourself. In know i had a smile from ear to ear! I definitely agree with Jimmy the blob eye needs to go on!
Please do NASA sandblast rally in South Carolina next year. Your massive following would really grow the event!!
Car has MapDCCD central diff controller - thats a nice tool! You can tune lock ratio vs various inputs. You definitely want to check what's mapped in there to inderstand car better. And its better to connect that handvrake input to the device as well.
Hand the keys to Collette, let her show you how to properly drive a Rally Car.
Can I start a petition to keep the pearl white!? I have an 07 STI and this is awesome to see come to the channel! I am not going to miss a second of the build videos!!
Yall are both wrong on the front end, the prodrive bugeye front clip is superior.
This. Bugeye was it for me.
Yep the OG is the best
Please keep up the Subaru and rally content I can’t stop looking for more 🤟🤟🤟
He needs to put a WRC kit on it
Next car should be an s12 wrc
This. There's a company that sells full WRC-style body kits for pretty much every generation of WRX, and they look amazing. I forgot the name but I think they're based somewhere in the UK. The same company that Bucky Lasek got the body kit for his GC8 "Buckit" from.
Those bags behind seats are for halmets. And put the wrc body kit please on it. Wide and unique
Regards from Zagreb, Croatia!!!
ogs know this is NOT his first subaru 💀
He said his first rally car not Subaru. But yeah he’s owned a few Subies, and I think he recently bought a gc8 from Japan.
There's plenty of time to cut it down with, it can be in the 30s or lower with better shifting points and having different gears in some of the corners. Like you don't want to have to shift early in a straight, you want to shift exiting the corner, and the end can be a gear lower with full throttle etc. Adam can at LEAST get a 30 sec pass on the rally STI
and the car is set up for loose surface, so that doesnt help... tarmac tyres and tarmac setup and it can go 29 for sure.
The horn is for the codriver to beep at the spectators while on stage!
Jimmy going to his core root with the blob eye and I don’t disagree and to see Adam in a proper Subie I’ve been waiting for this for a longgggg time it’s about time Adam !! Would also love to see you build a time attack one too for the compound !! 🎉🥳
Blobeye > Hawkeye button
Jimmy is right
Nice to see a big usa ytber showing off rally, hope this inspires many americans
Saw this car at LSPR 2021 and 2022. Glad to see Adam got it👍🏽
This video was awesome, Jimmy popping the launch control was hilarious .
4:45 I agree with Jimmy. Blob-eye master race!
Glade to see u venture into something I grown up watching in jamaica 🇯🇲
Adam, the restrictor is on the inlet of the turbo compressor. It has to be within a certain distance from the compressor wheel.
Drifting and rally are two of my favorite things. Seeing both on Adam's channel is awesome.
LZ i seen this coming and i called it after you built the Safari GTR R32 sick car by the way 👌 and suggested buying a Subaru instead of using that rare Evo you have and here it is next is the pro Rally announcement so ill be waiting for that keep up the great work 👍
That's on forest / gravel setup. Your lap would be considerably faster with tarmac tyres and suspension settings!!
Congrats, I use to rallycross a focus back in the day at European Rally School, now know as the Firm. …great times
You should link the off-road loop and the paved loop to make a rallycross course.
the oil pressure issue.. i think damage have been done when u bogs down on multiple starting launch...
use the antilag and do full launch with half clutch on paved surface...
tha rpm dip bogs down kills conrod bearing...
I'm loving the community I've seen building organically over the last few years. It's pretty cool
I can't even say for how long I've been wanting to see you get into rally. Such an awesome sport, and would be so cool to see you up in New Hampshire at the Climb to the Clouds event up Mt. Washington!
I said it once on your channel a while back. I love Subarus. Had a couple of them and still love them today
Adam! Thank you for taking us along your journey! It's so cool to see you rip these cars!
I'm with Jimmy on the blobeye 😂
the oil pressure issue can also be cracked welds on the factory oil pick up if it is still running the stock pick up. between this and the oil pump screws backing out would be my first guesses as they are common issues
i doubt they used stock pick up when building a racing engine
@@driverpsyche I doubt it too but you never know where people cut corners. it would be a simple check with a bore scope through the drain plug to check
I follow Dirt Fish, Vermont Sports Car, and Subaru on TH-cam. Can't wait to see you popping up in a rally soon! Think you're going to do well on dirt.
14:00 - I don't think 'transmission mounts' are technically 'mounts'. more or less thats what it does, but you install it after and it supports the trans that way, thus serves more as a bracket/stabilizer
"Transmission mount" would prolly be more like the actual rear face of the engine/flywheel area (my b I forget the word)
PRS QUICK STEERING RACK is a must for a rally Subaru ! Great video !
That Rally Car Lap was the best lap we've seen yet! You guys were having so much fun.
Im a 02 bug eye wagon owner 400 whp love of my life mane the subie contents gonna hit different
100% on board with this, just from the amount of joy on your faces!
This is the car that got me into cars. As a 16 year old kid it didn't get any better than a wrx or sti.
Jimmy is exactly who all my friends are. I love that guy!
Might have some pretty amazing results. There's a lot of proper rally implementations on this car. Subarus somewhat are rally cars after all.
