- The European Union reportedly will demand access to Britain's fishing waters in return for Sir Keir Starmer's reset in UK-EU relations.
The Prime Minister said he wants a "better deal" and spoke of resetting the UK's relationship with Europe.
This comes as two-thirds of residents in some of Scotland’s coastal communities fear a decline in the health of fisheries in the last two decades, a survey has found.
Research by Survation found that across Scotland, 40% of people think the health of the country’s fisheries has declined in the past 20 years.
Former UKIP leader Henry Bolton warns if Labour gives the European Union fishing stocks, the UK fishing fleet "will die".
"It has been the mainstay of some coastal communities for centuries, they will destroy it. It's symbolic, we are an island nation!"

Perhaps these so-called fishing industry shouldn't have sold own quotas to foreign companies and Farage attend at least one EU Fishing Committee meetings and defend British fishermen interests instead of cashing in only.

I remember how big the fishing industry was in Fleetwood, and how it declined from 1973 onwards.

The agreement they made on fishing uk waters was a total disgrace and should be torn up - we are not in that 'union' anymore so just do it - secure our borders and our fish.

@pk3778 It's got nothing to do with brexit a lot of our fisherman lost their jobs when we were in the Eu and that is because fisherman from other eu countries were fishing in our waters and there hasn't been a decline in interest in our fish markets.

@scott9665. The fishing community has been shafted a long time ago. Ironically fishing was used as a bargaining chip during Brexit. And we now know that neither Farage nor Boris has visited Grimsby since the Brexit debacle. I am no labour supporter, but this channel seems to sell a narrative that Labour is the sole reason for the decline of the fishing industry. I agree with you that the industry has been on a slow decline for a long time and that no one factor is completely responsible for it.

Years ago I visited Peterhead . The fishing boats could only go out fishing a few weeks a year.
UK should sell the fish they catch to EU , not the EU fishing for free in the UK waters.

The coastal fleets have been on the decline for many years , people buying so called holiday homes in those communities haven’t helped and each govt who comes in blames the other , with a , it wasn’t me govner , so be realistic and tell the whole story

Wow, one of the few limited leverage options thrown out of the window.. They shouldn't be in our waters we should be reaping our own coasts and selling the fruits to them.
And then we will not be allowed to fish in more productive waters belonging to other nations. That's one of the main problems - we haven't got enough of key species around the UK to be sustainable.

No doubt they're thinking is we can buy fish ( some caught in our waters) from other countries. It's all about Money, OUR MONEY!! we used to give Billions to the failing EU anually and none of it was ever accounted for, and Talk TV have a post on here that informs us that some of our MP's Kinnock was mentioned were recieving Millions as loyalty payments from the EU, Lets not forget our MEP's used to benefit from Free Travel and Free Acommodation and anything they thought neccessary for their jobs they also claimed on expenses and we paid for that they also got a pension for life after only 3 years attending Brussels parliament and again we paid for that. Plus they did not even have to leave London to claim up to £300 per day, amongst a list of those mentioned were the Kinnock,(this time mum and dad), all they had to do was to sign a register to state they were working on behalf of the UK within the EU. Glenys(now passed on) was recorded as claiming £300 per day regularly and Neil as claiming £150 per day regularly. and we paid for that to!!! As well as that over 47 years our manufacturing all but disappeared and our Fishing grounds suffered the same fate. AND BORIS TOOK THAT ALL AWAY FROM THEM BY PUSHING BREXIT OVER THE LINE!! and people ask why does Liebour want to get back to the failing EU, FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! In 2016 when we took that vote it has been posted on here that there were around 75% of our MP's against Brexit and recently Tom Bewick confirmed on GBnews that there were around 90% of them agaisnt Brexit and giving us the result of that vote!! That included Tory's why they gave up Boris so easily to Liebour!! The WEF and the Failing EU and our Parliament apart from Farage are all after our money to keep them in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to and they expect us to pay for it!!
