- The Home Secretary and the immigration minister could be summoned to face MPs to explain the “car crash” decisions behind the chaos at a migrant holding centre.
Conservative MP Sir Roger Gale said he has put forward an urgent question in the Commons to be answered by Suella Braverman or Robert Jenrick.
The veteran backbencher described the overcrowding at the Manston site in Kent as “wholly unacceptable” and suggested it may have been allowed to happen “deliberately”.
It came as the Channel crossing crisis deepened, amid growing concern over the conditions in which migrants are being held while waiting to be processed once they arrive in the UK, and after one of the sites in Dover was firebombed.

I have a private pension, but the government never tells you that when you claim for assistance, thatctheyve always said, get a private pension to too up the state pension, when you do, you cannot get help with pension credit, or other allowances tgat are available to only low pension state people. And my mother had basic state pension, topped up by 26 pw due to my dad's earnings related from many years ago, she had pension credit and service charges paid etc, but dhe got dementia, and went into a care home eventually , she lost all the pension credit, attendance allowance, service charge help etc, at 86yrs She had 216 per week pension of which the social services who arranged the care home etc, did help her but it meant her pension went to the care home for the remainder what social services did not cover, then they permit her to always have for her personal use 30 per week all other money towards the care costs.
I am sick of middle class women telling us all what to do. This has to end now.

I worked with 'asylum seekers' for years and I just wish I could tell all that I know but I can't. It is much, much worse than the public or even the best intentioned journalist knows and the money thrown at them is insane. yes they are put first. me and my ex wife were left homeless because of an illegal act made by the landlord we lived with our 2 children in one bedroom for 9 months at her sisters house while the council told us time and time again they had no houses because they were giving them to immigrants! it wasn’t until we got our local MP involved that something was done and he was disgusted at the situation ! we had a house within 2 weeks. it’s an absolute disgrace how much the tax payer is paying out to these people.. people who we know nothing about! Poland doesn’t put up with it!
