You can get cheap ones with an SD card reader for like a dollar. Honestly if you're gonna buy an MP3 player just get a classic iPod, my goto is the iPod Mini 2nd gen, it's got good aesthetics and you can put like 256gb in it if you mod it
Just put mp3 files on your phone and get a music player app
@gabberdoo2180 actually there is a difference since the mp3 players are designed for the solely focus on reproducing audio, therefore they have better dac included, and even then maybe you would be better at using FLAC instead of mp3 format, even if you are using them on a phone, but to each it's own.

I had like 2 RCA Pearl MP3 players from 2007 one for me & my dad too. Also, i had a Sandisk MP3 player from 2010 for more memory. Sadly, they're all lost. Still i had Sony Walkman MP3 player from 2012, but few years ago, i had a battery charger issue. And i only use my MP3 player for like over 30 minutes , while the battery is draining quickly. In Christmas 2021, i had my 4th MP3 player the A5-BT with a SD or TF card slot whatever it is.

I found mine too!! From 2013 i think i got 2 from my dad, i found it a couple hors ago and finding a charger to fit it was a chalenge, i ended up having to use a digital camera charger 😅

I still use an mp3 player (Creative MuVo 1GB) listening music from it just hits different than from my phone, maybe it has better quality, something makes it sound very nice, and its powered by a AAA battery so I can always replace it, unlike rechargeable Li-Ion batteries

How did people put more music on them back then?
Computer
You used music management software like MediaGo, MediaMonkey, and Windows Media Player. You load your music into the program, then send/sync the music to your player. With sending you just select the songs and send them to your player. With synching, you indicate in the program which songs you want on your player, and then sync it, the songs on your sync list will appear on the player, and the songs not on your sync list will be removed.
