    Ignore the haters. I hope they never have to experience why your binder is so important. I absolutely love your goat binder and I am beyond thankful for you and your wealth of knowledge that you have taken time out of your days that could’ve been spent with your family and your goats getting snuggles, to share your knowledge with all of us. Without you and your goat binder I would lost so many goats. Their are not enough small livestock vets in our area or the ones we have stay so busy they can’t always get to our farms in time if at all. So ignore those that unfortunately will one day end up wishing they had really watched and listened to you as you were only trying to help others. My herd and myself here at RJ’s G.O.A.T Misfits Farm thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Much love and goat cuddles from Tennessee all the way to Montana

    I just found you and ordered the binder. We have wanted goats for a while and with milk going up to about $200 per month and driving weekly, I figure we can own goats for less or at least not more and no weekly drive. I'm grateful to find all the information I need in a ready made format from someone who really cares about their animals. Thank you.

      @@DelcifromALifeofHeritage Yes, and your goat binder has been indispensable! I picked up my goats the day before it came and have been on a spending spree since. The illness section scared me so bad I started ordering and picking things up all over the place. If I hadn't run into you when I did, I shudder to think what could have happened. There was so much, I didn't know, I didn't know. I am grateful God directed me to your channel. There are scriptures that say the laborer deserves to be paid for there work and they can get the information free just by watching your videos; in my view, the goat binder is offered as a courtesy. I have a hard time sharing videos because so many shut down the minute a product is offered as if that discrets everything. Breaks my heart that it is so hard to get so many peope past that. God bless you & yours and your work.

    I do manual trimming, but I also picked up a special Dremel bit that grinds very hardened hoof spots. I bought a couple Saanen to go with my Nubians, and those 2 had rock hard hooves that had over growth on the inner sides. No way I could trim them with hoof shears. Hand rasped them with a file but it was just too slow going. Got the dremel bit, $1.95 and it worked like a dream. So much cheaper than buying an electric goat hoof trimmer too! It took a couple months to get their hooves growing normal again, but now I can use the regular goat hoof shears. I really like your videos, I rewatch some, save some and try to stay up to date with them. You have some very good tips and helpful tools. I’m not super new to goats, but I like hearing, seeing new ideas, and reminders of stuff I sometimes forget. I’m 60 yrs. old and grew up on a farm, loved it and continued on in my adult life here and there. Bought my grandparents farm, in 1993 and made it into a 3 generation farm. Originally my grandparents, gave my parents some acreage, so they are my neighbors, plus my dad is back where he grew up, my 2 boys grew up here, with cows, pigs n chickens and eventually I decided to get back to just goat farming on my property. I’m loving it and so are my parents! I have 1 grandson, that just loves goat milk and goat cheese and being a goat farmer every chance he can.

    Ok. So. Some People aren’t happy with my video 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ Sorry about that! This free information was just trying to help people raise healthy goats.
    If you don’t want to hear about My Goat Binder, go to 4:28 of the video.
    But don’t miss out either: alifeofheritage.krtra.com/t/8pfRVvA5o9Za
    I’m not ashamed to say that over 5000 people have gotten this book already. And it’s been, literally, a lifesaver.
    Do you know how many emails I get about sick goats? Let’s not let that be an email from you.
    You can also read the information on my site: www.alifeofheritage.com/farm-living/before-bringing-home-your-first-goat/
    (Reading might save you time)
    You want goats. I fully and happily support that decision. But I also think it’s important to be prepared. And to know what you need to keep goats healthy and happy.
    I couldn’t go into all the details about every single topic because the video would be hours and hours long. But I could say, “go watch the video about it on my channel”.
    So, yeah, if that’s an advertisement, I guess it is but I didn’t know how to do it any other way.
    If you don’t want to watch this video, just start watching my raising goats playlist and get all the information that way.
    Truly, I was just trying to be helpful. I did not mean to offend by mentioning My Goat Binder or other videos on my channel or by telling my own getting goats story.
    And...I hope you get your goats SOON and get all the goat snuggles in as possible!! 🥰🐐🥰

    You need to add into your videos as a "WARNING" goats, mini pigs, bird flocks etc. get addicting lol. We inherited 2 goats from a sister in law after her passing and that began our journey. Billy and Bob. Next came Walter and Kong, then Joe showed up who was suppose to be a doe ( he wasn't and turned into a rescue). THEN Hamilton and Hank, the mini pigs, and have amassed 130+- birds of different breeds. One thing that alot of people don't know about ( info is out there if you look ) but you might be able to get it out faster are LGD. Sadly our GSD who we had for 8 years was not :(

      I wasn't trying to come off negative. I'm new at this. I watched a few videos and all say it's very simple. But as I started watching your video, the 1st 10mnts literally changed my mind on having goats. Seems more then headaches and I don't need more added to my plate. I'm just wanting to raise a little profit, I have 5-6 acres . And instead of just mowing or brush hogging it ,why not put it to use. I figured raise 5- 10 goats for small profit margin and take to auction. I don't eat goats. Or their milk or butter or what not. I tried blueberry goat cheese once and it tasted the same way a urinated straw barn smells and thar was enough for me. So it's just for the auction. I figured 8-9 months get them to weight then sell. If that's possible

      @@chasingalaska3997 that’s a good plan!
      If you’re planning to raise goats long term it is important to know how to keep them healthy long term.
      Follow any goat vet group on Facebook and you’ll see the heart break of goat lovers trying to save their sweet goats.
      They are easy if you’re prepared. They are hard if they get sick or you aren’t ready for them.
      So just get ready. And then they are easy!
      I’ve had my heart break too, because raising animals means there are difficulties sometimes.
      Good luck! And many blessings!

    Hi Delci,
    I recently bought some acreage and am preparing for when I have my additional animals. Looking forward to moving so I can get goats, guineas, and chickens! Do you have any tips for keeping them on my property while letting them roam a little in certain areas (so I don’t have to brush cut some areas), but they’ll go back into their enclosed pasture area afterwards? I’m scared they’ll run off or be hard to catch and re-contain in their fenced area.

    I just got 2 male goats, they are Nigerian Dwarfs. One will eat out of my hand but the other. But they don't let me touch them or give any lovins to them. How do you get them to get there?

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When I had my crazy goat, I did put a long leash on her (made sure it was safe so it didn't get caught on anything) and went out and just handled her a lot. Loved on her, brushed her, and milked her. I think the milking was a bonding time for us.
      With that not being possible for your males, giving them grain on a milking stand or in a special spot, will encourage and help them want to go to that place with you (because they get grain) but if you also brush them and love on them, they'll start to love that too.
      It just takes time, patience and lots of scratches under their chin 😊 Don't give up! They'll turn the corner and love you!

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not familiar with Mountain Currs. Goats can get accustomed to a dog, especially if they are raised from birth with one. My goats weren't raised with dogs and my dogs don't spend time with them, so when the dogs come around, the goats are on high alert.

    Delci question on your Hay feeder, what happens when a very hard rain comes and it gets wet ? I see you have a cover but sides are open. Thank you for your reply. We are in East Geogia and get lots of Rain storms during the year. I can see the Hay getting soaked.....Will it just dry out?

    • @DelcifromALifeofHeritage
      @DelcifromALifeofHeritage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would personally keep it covered if we had more rain than we do but probably nothing more than I already have.
      Just this last week I had to uncover the hay in the feeder I use from a big snow drift. They weren't doing very well at getting to that hay lol
      But I think goats will eat wet hay as long as it's not allowed to get moldy in the process. Don't feed them any more than they need in one feeding though so it will just get eaten before it dries out or is wasted.
      If you can keep the feeder on a higher spot on your property so that the rain will drain away and not make puddles around the feeder, your goats will be much happier. Goats really, really don't like to get wet, be wet and their feet aren't happy in a lot of wet.
      I've seen some goat barns where the hay is just fed inside and I've done that in the past but it takes a lot of work to keep the hay from becoming a 4 feet deep mess. But continual cleaning and removing it will help it not be the most arduous and difficult task once a year.
