The first bride looked absolutely beautiful on her wedding day. Her hair and makeup were stunning. The steampunk bride couldn't have picked a better colour. She looked radiant.

Just for the people who don’t know what a stone is, it’s about 14 lbs, which means the couple have lost about 56lbs each, that is absolutely amazing. ❤️

I'm though sorry to break it to you but that doesn't still help most of the people since most of the world operates in SI-units and only knows weights in kg 😄
and for those of us who live in Europe and have no idea about either stone or lbs... 4 Stone is about 25 kg 😅

Thank God, I understand pounds and kilograms because of our weighing scale hahaha. I usually just multiply the kg by 2 to get an estimate of the lb and add a little lbs to it or divide the lbs by 2 for the kg estimate. So now I know what a stone is, I have an idea of how much the bride and the groom had lost. Wow, incredible indeed!
Pounds (lbs) to kilos are pretty easy to convert. It is not exact, but they 1 lbs is just under 0.5kg. 50lbs=25kg. Again, not exact, but we're talking about a random person's weight. A kilo more or less, who cares? It's just a trick to calculate it easier.

There was one better, I think. It had a bustle, and was also a plumcolour, I think. Quite expensive, but much more Victorian. But this one WAD brilliant - AND flattering!

It is really hard to buy what flatters without trying on. Lots of things work in theory, but these two can see what needs to change from each try. Maybe you could take $1000 off the dress and buy a ticket?
It would be a great adventure...
Maybe do a yard sale to get an extra $500? It would be so exciting. Far better to spend on a trip or house, than a wear once dress - though sometimes, I think, if you dyed that midnight blue or plum red, or plum purple, and detached the train, you would have a magnificent dress for a 'big do.' So you could wear a few times, again, if you didn't put on weight...

Did you see the sad episodes where some brides later died of their cancers and one bride lost her husband after less than 2 years of marriage? I felt so sad.
I am around your age. Never married. No interest in clothes OR wedding dresses - but I am addicted to seeing girls blossom with happiness and hearing their stories.

i had to google "steampunk wedding dress" to see what other people have done and yeah, that dress is pretty bang-on! maybe an exterior corset and a few chains or strands of pearls but otherwise brilliant. and the goggles they gave her are fantastic haha
Oh, they didn't "give" her the goggles---she had to buy them, as they're rather expensive!

The mum's lacing panic made me laugh in relatability! I design clothing and lacing a corset seems so intuitive and simple to me! But there are always remote clients with mothers/friends that are convinced lacing a bodice is the most difficult and foreign thing in the world and freak out! It's just a long ribbon, love! Don't let it scare you!
Yeah, but as a regular corset-wearer, I can say their fear is not unfounded. If someone doesn't lace it correctly, the wearer can end up in real pain by the end of the day. Proper fit can only take you so far. That's why I invested in a front-lacing corset years ago.
My Aunty did it for my cousin at her wedding and pulled it too tight and snapped one of the loops .. whoops

Both gorgeous brides, the second dress was stunning.
These women at the boutique are Earth Angels. Brides have difficulty if they're very real thin or if they are on the curvier plumper side. Wedding dress shopping is difficult for them at the very least. And their body issues are brought forward as everyone watches and looks at the bride. Bravo to the ladies and how they treat everyone as a special individual and know how compliments their Brides. The brides were beautiful and they felt good about themselves and that makes me happy for them. When you're unsure of to be given a strong footing on your wedding day is a Priceless gift. God bless all of you.

Steampunk is really for young(er) people, or those who are young at heart. It's a somewhat fun style, and you can look it up on the Internet. If I was 40 years younger, I'd most definitely be dressing in steampunk style!

I think they wore the jewelry sent to the store for the brides to select. They were able to get to wear gorgeous jewelry while displaying it for their customers to see on real, live bodies (I don't know if they still have the store; all of these are old episodes---Al had a gastric bypass and lost a great deal of weight, and they haven't done any of these shows since then).

I don't know what Steampunk is either! But, I know that I love that dress on her! Simply wow!!
If you look at Victorian art fantasizing what the future would look like, people are still wearing corsets and hats and petticoats, but are flying and wear gears as accessories. That's Steampunk. The name is because in the 1800s, people thought that steam technology was as advanced as they could get. So steampunk strives to show what would the world be like if industrial progress stopped there.

Just look it up---it's on the Internet---and you'd probably at least get a kick out of it. It's a fun way to dress, more for younger people than someone like me, but if I was 40 years younger, I'd most definitely be dressing steampunk style!!

Show the video to a really good seamstress. Probably get the same look half price. Keep an eye out for marked down lace, etc and dye it. Will probably be much cheaper.

i've seen that one on other brides and it didn't really have the right structure for steampunk. the one she picked had the bustle and gathers that are a hallmark of that look.

the second bride doesn't look like she needs to shop in a plus size boutique... she looks normal size to me...
jo & al's dresses have an amazing ability to make brides look half their usual size. she is probably an 18-20 normally, which could possibly be found in a regular shop but would be a lot harder since most of the normal sample sizes are like an 8. there was actually another steampunk bride that went to confetti & lace and the dress they put her in didn't do up in the back at all and barely went over her arms.
I think they said she was 18/20 in the intro. That IS plus size - but how it looks, depends on your height - and the clothes you wear. I think she was a taller girl.
I SO envy tall girls. Just from the practical side of being able to reach things, on a basic level.

MY good family friend is Tim Powers, the grandfather of Steampunk. I met him as he was finishing a book called "Expiration Date", upon which steampunk is based. LOVED the bride!!! Stunning!
It is extraordinary. Long ago when I was on twitter, I used to visit the amazing mechanical art work! Fish made out of tiny bits of tools and gears, sculptures to take your breath away! I would always retweet them. You got such a weird mix from my account!

after my rather guilty obsessive watching & absolute frustration at both myself for falling in a trap.watching one obese families weight game's FIND thus couples ability to. show such fortitude & believe in one another absolutely endearing & it also shows that they have the commitment necessary for their continuing " adventure ' they are undertaking . Wishing them.well.because that future will.have times that .... as all.marriages do but hope they also have much joy ... as I was fortunately given over 40.plus years ....
Usually I think that dresses with color just look like prom dresses but the steampunk dress looked like a wedding dress and she looks like the queen of the steam punk wedding
(If someone wants a dress with color on their wedding I don’t mind it, they just remind me of prom)
Both brides looked marvelous. Just by virtue of being so different however, the steampunk bride will draw more comments, and here is mine:
I'm delighted whenever a bride chooses a coloured gown (though on every other show, her entourage has conniptions every. single. time. Wrongly, in my opinion). The colour of both gowns was fabulous, the first one being a little bit brighter. My own taste goes more to the first gown, and the bride looked stunning in both. But her wedding, her body, her taste, her choice, and I'm glad she found something that made her so happy. Bravo to Jo and Al for hitting the bullseye again!
