Unveiling the Beauty: Time-Lapse Peony Painting in Oils

This video is finishing off a demonstration painting of a peony that I originally painted using water-mixable oil paints on paper for the Royal Miniature Society's annual exhibition, July 2023.
It shows some of the key parts of painting realistic flowers - the shadows are a high chroma and dark tone hue. In fact you can see that I didn't even touch the black paint on the bottom left of my palette. Painting flowers is all about painting shapes with subtle gradient transitions. Subtlety is key to getting the delicate nature of the soft petals.
