    • @Faikakala
      @Faikakala 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@georgapaul1452 But also note that Gloria is the only one that hadn't been followed by security, so, the main reason she hasn't been followed is because she's interacted with islander security, no one else stated the security that followed them around. Yes @nonirose, it happens so many times. I work in retail and I know when I'm being followed. I've even been told by coworkers to follow a suspicious family, the only thing suspicious was their skin colour. Happened to me in Louis Vuitton, the security guard followed me so closely I felt like I had a personal body guard, definitely not islander. Went to Kookai (Women's clothing store) with my palagi (caucasian) coworker straight after our shift, and I was still followed around, again, was not islander. Yes, it is racist and prevelant to most of us, you'll be LUCKY to be brown and not followed around in a store they consider 'high-end'.

    • @sandra-jones
      @sandra-jones 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@georgapaul1452 racism is taught sometimes through implicit bias. So through security training a person of color can be taught to be racist against another person of color.

    Being multicultural, it can be really hard to fit in. So when yall started talking about the whole white washed bit - I felt my heart drop. Im Puerto Rican/Dominican - Samoan raised in Aus and all my childhood I felt like I was an outsider - because I couldn't speak Samoan or Spanish. I mostly had Aussie friends (Bless ❤) Not religious, dont have many siblings or grew up with my extended family members, etc. So I always got called out for it - even by half caste & Polynesian obsessed English teachers... But it never once discouraged me or took away my ability to love, respect & honour others. After-all, its about whats on the inside that makes us who we are. ❤ Bless xx
