Careless pictures of mundane scenes with horrible optics. It must be art #yeahidontgetit
Frank Walsh thanks
Still a cool video though!
As a art student I feel as though these photots were totally fine and rather well done
One great thing about photography is looking at things you normally wouldn't. Forces you to pay attention to the little things #cantargueabouttheopticstho
Odd dude with a crap eye 💀
but most importantly it's pink!
I swear the cuffs of your pants keep getting rolled higher with every video.
Lovely work as always my boy!
For me, whole point of doing it, is the distortion, vignette and uniqueness. There are no two Holgas that will give you the same image. Lomography is avant-garde of photography world. Great cameras allow You to portrait reality as it is, but toy cameras offer You something else, different point of view, maybe not perfect, but sometimes much more dreamy and interesting.
I don't think so. The uniqueness or avant-garde of photography today is photographers creating different, out there photographs as avant-guade always has been in art. I see what your saying that the cameras are different and giving you a weird perspective in you photos but I think your just buying into Lomos idea of photography/marketing.
Avant garde was always about creating your own space, not mimicking reality, and that's what lomo is for me. Also, I'm not using Lomography film or cameras.
Yeah @ab763 there's a lot more to an image than just 'how' it looks- i think that's a pretty shallow and un-intuitive way of shooting; Nothing that lomo does is new or far from reality, not their cameras which are based off old kodak $1 box cameras that gave the same effect 100 years ago, and not their fake 'infrared' films either lol
I think having superior control with using a "great" camera like an 8 x 10 or 4 x 5 and THEN conceptualizing and creating something separated from the reality in which it was shot is far more interesting than shooting with a camera meant to give you a 'dreamy' look and hoping for the best.
I agree! I have the same reason for why I like to shoot with polaroid
I don't have a "great camera" but I have some decent cameras that allow to shoot nice clear and sharp pictures if they are used well. Not every garbage toy make more "artistic" and "unique" pictures.
Your videos are very calming. Makes my day a whole lot better.
Holga is one of my favorite cameras to toy around with. Some of my favorite images in my wedding portfolio were taken on the Holga. Have never shot color through it, I typically stick with FP4 to be able to shoot mid day light
LOVE Holgas - have about 3 or 4 in regular rotation. No two are alike. I have one loaded with color (Fujicolor Pro 400H), one with B/W (TMAX 100), one with some color film so long expired I may get nothing out of it.
The whole point of Holga for me is getting the best photo I can from a camera with so few controls, and so many issues.
It's not about the camera - it's about the photographer. The photos I take with my Leica are not necessarily better than those from my Holga (technically better, perhaps, but lighting, composition, and subject matter are still factors).
Hand your camera to your friends and see what kind of interesting pics they come up with, but mostly just have fun with it! :)
1:47 I actually love this photograph
yeah, it's subtle. I liked th-cam.com/video/0NaofOX5_U8/w-d-xo.htmlm45s the pincushion distortion really suits it I think. and the colors came out nice
my favorite of the bunch!
Me too ❤️
The negative feedback challenge will be awesome. I really miss something like this since the Protog cheap camera challenge from DigitalRev
yeah! tape up the insides (an batteries) and get the mask out too. I put tape on the edges of the frame so the film don't scratch
Thales Protázio yes!!
The challenge sounds awesomeee
It's so helpful as a photographer to play with quirky cameras like the Holga every now and again. Lovely video as always!
A negative feedback camera challenge would even great and it already matches the channel perfectly
It's awesome to see the quality of your videos improve, how you have started to experiment with the composition of the shots... it kind of makes me feel that you really care for the videos and that you are willing to try and innovate.
My favourite thing with my Holga is that i can double expose the shots and get some awesome overlays!
I really love the sense of isolation in your photos and really showing time in its simplicity 🎈
Congratulations of 100k. Here on for the next 100k. Very well deserved.
Now I'm inspired and want a toy camera.. 😩
yes! negative feedback camera challenge!
all the effort you put into your videos does not go unnoticed!
holga camera challenge sounds like a fun series
That photo @1:33 lowkey reminds me of the TECH (all red) filter on VSCO..
Photomeike It does look similar.
Carla Dezagoire I don't know. I have it on my set but I've had it for a while. I just recently used it for the first time. Looks great on dark and silhouette images IMO
1:50 reminds me of an old photo I've posted on instagram in 2016.
This place is so photogenic.
TECH
Photomeike I
Definitely give it another go or pass it to a friend! I love my holga happy to have seen this in my subscriptions this morning
Absolutely pass the holga around, that would be really interesting to see!
i just had to hand develop 6 rolls of b&w 120 yesterday from my holga using three tanks
cody hughes You have any idea how much holgas cost? thinking of getting one.
ordered one on ebay for like about $20 and then i found another one (the one i'm keeping) for like i think $15 at a resale shop
cody hughes That's pretty cool.
I might think about getting one just for aesthetic purposes.
they turned out really well i'm very pleased
how no to develop your 120 film ,, piss on it,,
really dig your sound design as well as the photos. thanks!
You have a nice Holga example! No light leaks and a sharp lens! Great video. I recently got the same model. It leaks light so I use black tape around the seams to minimize the leaks. Great channel. Subscribed. 👍🏻
I really liked how many of the pictures came out. Really moooody.
these look so good 😻😻😻
I really like how these came out!
yesss to negative feedback camera challenge!
yes defenetly do the challenge plz
seeing this in my subscription box made my day
great video! would love to see more of what the variety of flash settings are capable of achieving.
Maybe being about 20 years older and looking at the pictures from the holga would have given you a rush of nostalgia like it gave me, just has the same look and feel to the pictures I used to take on my cheap crappy camera on school holidays. I can almost here my Grandmother's voice and smell the rotting kelp as I squint my eyes looking out over the water at Shoal bay on a bright day, the coarse sand almost hurting my toes, My Grandfather every-thirty-second-glances-over-to-make-sure-I'm-not-handling-some-deadly-sea-creature.
I hate shooting on toy cameras but you make it look so good
More Video, please! You've inspired me, so much!
Great work! I've been watching your videos all week ! Keep shooting xx
I would love to see the "friend challenge" thing! :) another great episode!
Big up Bermondsey! I work at the Biscuit Factory and there's loads of weird architecture around the area that's super interesting to shoot. Really cool seeing you guys exploring places I pass by daily.
Love that you spent some time round the back of the tube station, the weird organic roof surface thing that sits on top of the ventilation shafts is super cool.
Keep the good stuff coming 💪
Love the music in this episode!
Very thoughtfully made video, really appreciate all details👍🏻 and the way you edit
The challenge would be really fun!
I'd love to see a Negative Feedback camera challenge actually - I think it would make a very interesting video!
yessss please do the challenge that would be fun
I have a Diana mini and I kinda feel the same way as you. However, it still fun to shoot. Great vid! Pass the Holga to your friends, can't wait to see what they'll shoot.
what a lovely video! so glad I stumbled upon your channel
Inspired! I always watch your videos to get inspiration. Love this one!
Contrast to what many comments say, I LOVE these photos! Some of my favorite photos of my childhood were taken on cheap cameras
One of the great things about toy/cheap cameras is not knowing how the photos will come out and learning to not be so narrow minded or rigid with composition and quality
I would love to see this as a challenge video with your friends for sure!
This episode was beautifully graded guys, nice :)
Love Holga. I love the portrait in red.
the camera challenge is a great idea
Nice, it's cool to see how well the pictures can come out even without a light meter. Kind of like how disposable cameras work, except it's reusable and medium format and you have more control over focusing.
2:09 WOW! That one took my breath away.
always love george style!
I love these shots. The idea of giving it to your friends for a video would be great.
Great photos man
yes 2 "negative feedback camera challenge"!!
this is literally so sick, i've recently copped a camera like this and this has really inspired me to get started and try things out, keep it going :)
Yesss please challenge your friends if they have time! Would love to see their take on it.
make that camera challenge video with your friends!! i'd love to see!
I always know I will love your compositions.. Wonderful shots without much control! About the toyness of the camera, I've found that a happy medium between the Holga and Mamiya 7, with a good form factor, and solid controls, are folding rangefinders like Isolettes, Super Ikonta, and my fav the Mamiya Six Automat.
I think the holga shines best with black and white film and long exposure
M I L L E N I A L P I N K
7:12 missed opportunity to say "there's a positive and *negative feedback*"
Great picture at 2:42!
that's what I thought
I know right!!!
I actually really liked the photos!! Great video!:)
I am inspired. I have inherited a film camera which I have basically never used. It always seemed inconvenient. Now this seem silly. Your images, even the most fleeting, seem to capture something unique.
I love your video and that lovely pink camera im going to buy one soon and put in it my handbag . i have seen the Holga twin lens reflex camera would y get one .
Surprising sharpness with Holgas.
Thanks for inspiring me to get my Holga out again. I've only ever put 1 roll through it and I've had it since 2014!
You're one of my inspirations for my channel :) hoping to try out a holga soon 👍🏻
Hi, excellent video and photos! Thanks! Could you explain for me how do you know when you reach the next frame? Cheers!
A Holga was my first film camera, bought so long ago I had to print & post a form to Lomography and use my mum's credit card to get it. I think you need to use it more, loosen up a little! My friend at work has lent me her Leica M3 which she bought after finishing her Photography MA but never used it, so I gave her one of my toy cameras so she doesn't have to think so hard about it and JUST SHOOT!
I bought Holga 120GN last month, and use ilford HP5 plus film to test it
Holga is a famous camera in Hong Kong, because it made in Hong Kong
Hi, I bought Holga external flash along with this camera. However, it is working only with my Holgas. Not working on my analogue and digital cameras with hotshoe mounts. Is Holga external flash made only for working on Holgas?
i was into toy cameras but point and shoot and slr really got my attention
I would totally watch a little mini series of shoots with this camera! I know you don't like the distortion and the vignette, but I thought they gave the photos a lost footage, kind of vibe which I really enjoyed. Like, I said, I think you should have your friends do a sort of "challenge" with this camera, I think it'd be interesting to see what they think of it!
could be really nice to see the camera challenge !
Hey George, may you make a video about the process after the photoshooting,, how can we load the photos in the PC??
Thank you in advance.
the camera looks so handy
Hey, nice one! I really like the fact that you've shown us something you don't quite like yourself and shared your honest thoughts about it. Are you going to try Diana? Or maybe you did already?
Are you wearing those trousers for a bet? Lol. As ever George, great tog video - thanks.
I have two Holga cameras. I like them, fun, simple, interesting shots. I have not shot much in quite some time though. I feel with the price of film, processing, scanning... I rather save that film for a nicer camera. Fun cameras, thought about selling, but I think I'll be holding onto those babies.
You should totally do the Negative feedback challenge with ur friends!:D that sounds like fun idea and a nice up comming video:)
I’m wondering how you achieved so “clean” prints. I have Holga 120 GCFN, loaded it with Kodak Portra 400, I even taped camera. And my prints are not sharp, some are “dirty”. Is it possible that my lab didn’t process it correctly?
Have a look what Ted Forbes did with the Holga ('The Art Of Photography' Channel on TH-cam)
So sweet fellas :)
That shutter sound is kinda nice though.
Really like 1:49 ! (and the rest of the video as well of course!)
list out your sneakers you wore in every video please. they're so cool
You are charming. Greetings from Spain!
Hey man, could you please tell me where you buy films and cameras in London? I got a Yashika and I'm starting to take pictures with it. You could make a video telling us where to find this kind of material, and maybe in this way you help to support the stores.
enjoyed it!
Good shit
Looks fun, I'd try it! And it's cheap too, we love cheap cameras.
Can you do a video trying out the lomography cameras please! :)
I have this camera and I have no idea how to use it. Its been a roller coaster but maybe one day I'll learn to use it. haaha
yeah a camera challenge would be cool
cool to see how this worked out! I have a Diana that I'll occasionally bring if I'm just out with friends, but I'm honestly not the biggest fan of it
i clicked so fast on this video!! gotta love lomography♥
never liked these cameras but you made it look good
