I personally don't care about the dead space between the kills, the commentary makes the content just as entertaining and satisfying as when you win dogfights.

I believe tho that setting up on a target is just as important part of gameplay as dogfight and af camping ;) of course extending can be boring so we do not need to watch downtiered f6f doing that for 3 min straight, unless DEFYN finds it being good excuse for some rant about bs in the game or explaining his thought process. In war thunder you gotta appreciate the virtue of patience, and I'm saying this as a f2p player xD

The plane isn't 'good' and it is overtiered, but it still is easy to get kills with if you're in a decent position with how well it pulls and how good the 30mms are.

Hey Defyn, that’s actually a pretty cool idea that you fly older planes. Could be new series or something like that where you show planes that you just like because of it’s looks, flight performance or other things. maybe because Gaijin changed something. (Like the BR or other things) would be kinda cool to revisit some of the old planes to attract the newer players. Idk maybe something like older premium planes like the Fw190 D13 for example.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I really like my Ki-94-II, it's actually so fun when you get the guns on target + the added bonus of nobody knowing how to fight you since it's rare. It's a nice plane
i really regret not getting the thing when i had the time,, granted it was not that easy

I think the Japanese 30s are pretty darn reliable. I love the j2m5, I swear the guns almost never spark and 9/10 times one shot a fighter (like they should). ROF and velocity are good enough, doesn't take too long to adjust to the ballistics. However since the dm update for japanese 12.7s, the ki84 ko is far in a way the best one and sits at a very reasonable BR.
Many Japanese planes do need alot of practice and skill to be able to be played but they do suffer just like 262s mainly the higher ones

Well... now I don't have an excuse anymore for sucking with this plane. :D I somehow seal club with it in ground RB but can't get it to work in air RB. I'm either too fast and then I f*ck up the dive or I get swarmed and beaten up by the Japanese. 😅

You say the Ki 84 hei is horribly uptiered, but I don't seem to have any problem playing it and being quite successful, even against jets. The guns are insane, and even the flight performance seems to be fine against pretty much everything, am I just good with the Ki 84? Is it actually fine at its BR? Or are all of my enemies just bad?

How do you always know how far to lead and where to aim and still hit very good shots so consistently?! You are hitting fast planes from 600m - 1200m away with incredible accuracy quite often. And not just in this plane, in pretty much every plane I see you fly, no matter what guns they have, whether a 550m/s 30mm MK108, or a 740m/s 20mm Ho-5 or a 850m/s 12.7mm M2 Browning you are always hitting perfect bursts from far away at weird angles on fast planes that are mid turn. It takes me ages just to learn how far to lead a gun at close range, and when I play another plane I'm missing my bursts again. Is this just insane experience you have and many hours in each plane, or something else which helps you always know how far to lead?
Its just insane experience and also learning the guns and planes that he is using, also if he misses he can see by the tracers wether to lead more or less

When I got the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service's Ki-84 Hei it was one of those few aircraft that I had to admit was dang on amazing. I simply still love this aircraft.
In fact, I think it actually overtook my IJNAS A6M zero. Athough I only ever use tracer and universal since they seem to be the most effective.
The fact that the performance stays the same is why I never bothered, and stuck to the 5.3 one which has worse guns but I still really enjoy it.
The Ki-84 hei is a marvelous plane, well all of the Ki-84 are really nice.

Well, recently stumbled on this channel, re-discovered War Thunder several months ago, just unlocked La-5FN and had problems getting my hands around it. With the help of the guides and gameplay here maybe i'll be able to master that beast, and even if not - i still learned a lot of stuff about aerial combat. Thank you very much, gonna wait for new content with great anticipation.

One thing I like about the VK-107 engines is that you can just MEC them to infinitely WEP with little power loss and not cook its engine for the first minute of doing so.
Just set the prop pitch from 85-90%, both radiators to 33% (either of pp or rads are adjusted accordingly to map temperature), and forget about it. Supercharger gear changes though, just switch it to second gear past 2.2km altitude in a regular ass map, 2.3km if it's cold, and you don't even have to touch the mixture setting.
Also not to forget to turn off the automatic settings for the MEC stuff. Makes them a right pain in the ass to deal with if you think they're gonna cook their engine for you.
IL2 player? Man, the communities from 'Fly Aces High', IL2 and (generally) DCS were so much different than War Thunder, I suppose maybe because it was smaller. If someone stole a kill, or only did headons they would become pariahs. Everyone , at least in FAH, were gentlemen for the most part, congratulating their opponents (>S=salute). WT Air rb players, however, say they wish your family gets hit by a truck. Personally, I preferred the chat ban, at least in air rb.
Revisit the J32B Lancen, it faces so many low-level premiums and rate fights everything

That's only for times and proximity fuses so you can't blow yourself up

I think one subtle thing that makes you such a dangerous opponent are the decisions you make when you aren’t in combat. Most new players are too impatient or too greedy/lack of knowledge of planes strengths/weaknesses.

We do that sometimes, but mostly with the 5.3 versions. :D
I'd love to fly the Ki-84 - or energy fighters really - well, but the Zero has spoiled me with its monkey brain turnfighting to the point it's a reflex. And I find the gun velocity of the Ki-84 to be kind of atrocious, perhaps it's my screen resolution but I literally have to drag the sights off-screen to get enough lead to have any hope of hitting anyone. Perhaps one day I'll get better but that day isn't today.
Might absolutely be your screen, the 30mm cannons on the Ki-84 are insanely high velocity and can easily snipe planes at 1.5km if you know how to aim them.
As for the turning, it's not a Zero, but it definitely is one of if not the best turning plane at the BR.
@@saxwastaken Oh no I actively try to not turnfight them because I know it's not a Zero but whenever I ended up in a BnZ situation where the enemy change direction to throw off my aim, the lead is off my screen (granted, this is zoomed in, so I should try to aim without zooming but it's...harder)
@@AnakinSkyobiliviator aiming without zooming is something you should absolutely get used to, it's a vital skill for jet combat.

Hi DEFYN, I wanted to know if you use vertical targeting? (For jets and props)?
I think nearly all the 6.0 Japanese props are over tiered. They felt great to fly, but spading them was painful when fighting F2G’s and Griffon Spits. The N1K2’s and Ki-84’s need to go down and stay around 5.7, I really think they would fit much better around there than 6.0.
Ki-83 go down? That plane is amazing and not off tier at all, in fact you end up above pretty much everyone, you are really fast at altitude and can also, with flap usage, dogfight quite a few planes.
So the N1K2s should go down to 5.7 and be able to see 4.7s

i'm sure you are a much better pilot in this game then i am, with that being said. sometimes i feel like your opponents are almost brain dead at times. but maybe thats just cause you make it look so easy. idk. so far my game with this plane have been awful. they have been turning me into the red mist
What the best tactic I found for this plane, in downtiers or uptiers. Is that you should never climb above 1.5k meters in uptiers, because jets have the advantage of speed, and you're still manueverable at 1.5k meters so you can hard counter jets. In downtiers, just play how you would normally, climb high.

As japanese main, Ki-84 series performance are decent. But, the repair cost is not IMO kinda bit expensive .

It means your flight control surfaces become more and more stiff until they won't respond anymore at a certain velocity.
