    This is nothing special. Women have BEEN joining the Marines since forever. Their boot camp had been in Paris Island, FL. Adding a female company in San Diego is not making any real history. It's just adding cost and complications for separate facilities and other accomodations.

      Actually, is only ONE platoon of female recruits in a company with the rest of the all male platoons. Now the ridiculous politicians are pushing to close both MCRDs to build only one somewhere in the middle of the US, willing to spend MILLIONS of dollars only to satisfy their sick idea of integrating males and females in only one location. All of them should be voted out and let the Marine Corps continue the same way it has been since its formation!

      Men have dominated and run the world from the beginning of time. This doesn't bother most women because most women are normal, and "normal" women view this as how it should be. Most women's first concern is for their husband and children. The women who are angry over this historical fact are the rabid, radical feminist women who view women as "victims" of male patriarchal societies. In fact, back in the 1970s normal women---homemakers and mothers---organized and defeated the feminist Equal Rights Amendment. It never saw ratification because these conservative (normal) women kept it from getting the required number of states needed for it to have become part of the Constitution. They did/do not want to be treated like a man.

      Mikey Breakz,
      I cannot believe you posted such a stupid comment! If a woman could become as strong as a man, we would not need male and female sports teams at the Olympics. So your comment makes no sense. Also, there is already a controversy going on about whether even transgender women should be permitted to compete in female sporting events because these transgender women have a huge advantage.
      Also, these bootcamp women had LOWER standards for physical fitness. To get full points for pull-ups or push-ups, for example, they did considerably fewer than what the men were required to do to get full points. Also, to get full points for the 3-mile run, the women had 33 minutes to complete it, whereas the men had to complete it in 28 minutes to get full points. So their training was hardly equal to the men's training.
      You also stated they were not trying hard enough. How patronizing and insulting!

    Here's some embarrassment as civilians cheer "women". On this "history day", about 400 new Marines completed boot camp. Of the 400, 50 were women (8%); 1 woman for every eight men. Knowing this, and experiencing the Corps, I can outright SAY these new WM celebrity careers will have no further "claim to fame". Some will be regarded as the "top 3 PT finishers" instead of "the only WM that barely passed". What they were TAUGHT Marine Corps values of character. I've seen them LEARN was how to work the systems of Affirmative Action. I've watched many WMs not strive as they were [12 in their command], and assured a AA quota slot in every conceivable board. AA will regard them as the "chosen one", like the obvious black woman as the Senior Drill Instructor. Remember the Army Ranger women officers PUSHED THROUGH the program while male soldiers were dropped due to performance not holding the same standards. The SDI was given attention, but there was absolutely no mention of the Jr DIs working under her. Their entire career will be preselected due to the meaningless "first platoon" PUSHED through training.

    This is very disturbing for Marines of the Old Corps unless some of them have lost some pride that they had for many years. Nothing against the female Marines. My hat if off to them. I graduated in march 1976. plt.3137 We started off with 80 recruits, some washed out early during the first phase but the rest gave everything that they had as we say 110%. They didn't have what it takes to be THE FEW THE PROUD THE MARINES. Of the 80 we started with only 41 graduated. We knew and are proud that we were the cream of the top, the few.. Are there actually people out there that don't know that physically men are stronger and have more endurance than women? It has always been that way with Human Beings.No offense but a fact. So if the men in my plt. that didn't graduate although they gave all that was humanely possible from them, then how is it that now that out of 60 females 53 graduated by going thru the training and conditioning with men? If the men gave their all and couldn't graduate how can the women that did say that they did because they tried harder than the men that gave their all. Doesn't make sense. Of course, now there is a much higher % of men graduating than back in my time. This tells me that it must be that the training is still difficult but not as difficult that the majority can graduate. THE MAJORITY DOES NOT EQUATE TO THE FEW THE PROUD! The women Marines are truly the cream of the crop in regards to Womanhood but they are not men and as a whole, they will never be as tough as men no matter how they try to be. This integration has softened Our Beloved Corps ! I wonder if deep inside some of the male Marines wonder if the overwhelming percentage of women graduated as well as the men then how can we be the few the proud? I'm just saying let the women do the physical part which is the majority of boot camp by themselves . Then see if the percentage of male grads. goes down.

      @XJarhead360 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would like to know the reasons 39 members of your class washed out. You seem to imply they couldn't hack the physical requirements. Let's see 1976 is when you graduated and that decade was a peak for young people using drugs. How many washed out because they tested positive for marijuana? How many were set back to a "fat boys" platoon because they couldn't finish the obstacle course or other PT requirements? How many lost weight and graduated with another platoon. How many were set back due to illness and finished with another platoon?
      As for graduating in 1976, as I remember the requirements enlistment during that period were "dumbed down" because there were not many applicants wanting to enlist in the military. So maybe some of the 39 who didn't graduate just didn't have the mental commitment.

    I don't have maind of femlae join the army . BUT i don't agree that male and female be in same place. If they both of theme are in same place the Pheromones will be every where. Don't blame males if they start flirting and sexsual harmons go up . Also female may feel attractive to male . Learn from the past.
