Preorder cancelled. Thank you, for the review. I really appreciate getting a better look at this. I thought it was going to be more interesting. I own almost every black series helmet and this is the most plasticy thing I’ve seen from them.
Although I'm sorry to hear this one was a disappointment for you, Wayne, I am happy that the video helped you make the decision and saved you some money. The helmet design from the show was weird to begin with. It really doesn't translate well into the Star Wars universe and this this one looks a little "space cadet" to me as well. Consequently, you end up with this odd helmet that people either seem to love or hate.
@@PaulsCollectibles It didn’t help that Disney just released a talking C-3PO head for only $20 more than this helmet. I only have so much room and credits!
I agree, Christopher. The shiny black finish on this one really stands out, especially right as you pull it out of the box. I'll be interested to see if we get a lot of costuming going on from the 3rd season of the Mandalorian as well. Thanks for stopping by again as always!
Thanks, Jespata! This one does have its flaws, as many have mentioned in the comments, but overall the shiny black finish sure makes this look good on display!
Hey Paul good to see you, I almost bought this helmet a few times but I dont like the horn design of the helmet. I appreciate the up close/detail look at the helmet. It does look good on you tho. Have a good one.
Excellent point, Ryan. I probably would not have picked this up a few years ago, but I can't control myself any more. haha! This one does look a little "space cadet" for sure. And as always, thanks for the compliments and kind words. I appreciate it.
I think a lot of people make a mistakes on the horns for me. I think it’s more of a crown compared to a horn. Great video review I got mine last month.
Thank you for the kind words about the video, John. I appreciate it. And yeah, this helmet definitely divided the collector base for sure. I like the shiny black, but it doesn't really fit in the Star Wars universe like many of the helmets we've gotten from Black Series.
Cool looking helmet Paul, not keen on the fins personally but the helmet itself really nice, but also feel you shouldn’t be able to see the wearers eyes through the lens when worn. Thanks for another detailed review man 👍
h Hey! Look who it is! I thought you were mad at me, Luke, since I hadn't seen you in so long. haha! Just kidding. And yeah, this helmet really divided the collectors this time. The shiny black is pretty, but it looks a little "space cadet" to me and doesn't really fit the look of the Star Wars universe overall. Thanks for checking this one out, sir! Cheers!
I never bother with the batteries on these, Mark. I have found over the years that the voice changers and light effects are silly at best. And since the helmet is going to sit for a long period of time, I don't want the batteries in there corroding all over the helmet.
@@PaulsCollectibles Same here Paul, I never bother with voice changers, waste of time.I just thought this one looked a bit different with the light effects.
You know it, Michael. This time the room will be totally planned out from scratch with the all the collectibles, as opposed to how I am doing it ad hoc right now. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Great video, thanks for reviewing. Im probably in the minority here but to me the helmet looks really cheap and toy like!? Sme of the BS helmets have been really good quality, for example the scout trooper helmet is as good as any you will find for 3 x the price. But this Gideon one looks tacky, i think this one is going to be another trapper wolf helmet shelf warmer that you can pick up today everywhere for £49!!
I think you're right, Chris. These super-shiny helmets with no weathering and all the fancy colors do leave a little to be desired in the "realism" realm for sure. I loved it for the shiny black paint, but that also is what causes it to look more "space cadet." as well. And the vibrant red visor doesn't help.
I have a size 8 head, J, and it barely fit me with the head rig removed. It's about the same size as the other Mando helmets. So, if they don't fit, I'd venture a guess this one won't either.
Nice review Paul. You might as well go pick up the Vader helmet...you collect helmets of individual characters now (and have since you got a Boba Fett helmet.)
I know, Matt. Right? I used to only collect the trooper helmets. Then my wife talked me into getting the first "The Mandalorian" helmet, and it's been downhill ever since. I should probably just go ahead and get the helmet of one of the most conic villains ever at this point. haha!
You'd have to check with your local garrison to be 100% sure, Pyro, especially since I'm not a member of the 501st myself. I do have a few friends who are members who I film from time to time, though. Consequently, I'm confident in opining that the Hasbro series of helmets will not be approvable for the 501st without heavy modification. Due to a number of design and construction anomalies, they simply aren't up to the standards of that costuming group. Hope that helps.
@@PaulsCollectibles Alright, might do some modifications to it so it looks more accurate. I would have to wait 2 years to apply so that should be enough time to make a full costume with helmet modifications

I received mine yesterday and I was super impressed with this BS helmet. I was expecting much considering the price and seeing the proto version. However, I am pleasantly surprised. Awesome pickup 👏🏼
Hey, Gary! And yeah, I was a little shocked at how well it was packed in the box compared to what they used to do with them. Then I got it out of the box and that super shiny black took my breath away. GFlad to hear you got yours so early as well. They told me it wasn't due till January, then BAM! Here it was!
It does, Nolan. I never bother with any of those effects in my videos because, for the most part, they are silly looking or silly sounding. This one is no exception. Why the visor lights up is beyond me. Gideon's helmet didn't do that in the show.
I don’t care for this helmet at all. I really like the design. It’s super cool and when I saw it on Giancarlo, I really wanted it, but then when I saw that it came like this with the stripes on the left and the right that are almost pink. I was like nope no thanks… I feel like it should be a candy apple red instead on the left and right and a deeper darker black for the helmet… Then I would buy it
Matt, if the color of the stripes is the deciding factor, then make sure you check out other reviews. I have found that under different filming lights (especially those of amateurs like me) the colors look different than they normally would. Also, notice you can see my eyes through the visor at the end of the video, but I think that is simply because of the harsh lights I use to film with. Just a thought...
For sure, Fizzacles. As a trooper fan, I don't mind those repaints too much, but it was very nice to see something all new with no repainting or reuse for sure.
Ill be the devils advocate, Im.not a fan of this helmet. To me, the black looks to "plasticy". Also not a fan of seeing through the visor. But $99....thats a great price. There $270 in Australia (about $180 usd)
I think it looks decent for the price range but I do agree the visor needs to be darker or something to stop you from seeing the face if the person wearing it
Yeah, I can see your point on that, Darth Lego. I don't think under normal circumstances, you'd be able to see the eyes of the person wearing it. I think that just happened because of the harsh studio lights I use to film. Regardless, the visor would look better if it was a little darker, no doubt.
