Even though our girl was high as a kite, you can truly tell she was a character in her own right and sweet as gold. The sad thing is, that dirty, evil industry took her life from her. The moment she opened her voice on the Merv Griffin show, and I remember that first time she sang Home, Clive knew he had his muse. He molded her and crafted her to be this person that she wasn't. He wanted her sultry, perfection, Diana Ross-ish, Glamour...and though she wasn't that girl, she played the role, not realizing she wasn't made for that life. Even though her cousins Dionne and Dee Dee, along with her mother knew the industry well, they were well aware of the darker side so one would think Whitney was strong as teflon, she wasn't. She had a demon lurking in the that dark, her own brother that fed her drugs and from there she was hooked. She got erratic, and unpredictable and the other demon came out of the darkness, Bobby who added to her downfall - but she put her faith in the Lord but wasn't holding up her end of the Bargain. Her demons and the demons in the industry didn't care about the person, the human Whitney, even Clive didn't care, he put her in rehab twice, but she was his Money, and he didn't put her in the for the right reasons, he put her in there because he made money off of her and she was losing money as long as she was sick and on drugs - so I'm thinking he had her murdered so that he could recoup his money because he knew she wasn't going to get any better. Sis made her peace and she's gone on home. this life was too much for her to bare. R.I.P. Nippy.
I agree with most of what you said...but a lot of misplaced blame is put on Bobby. She was using drugs before he met her.....and he wrestled with his own demons. Whitney definitely endured a lot of trauma but I think the jury should be out on the amount that Bobby contributed to her downfall. I miss her. Never pictured a regular or musical world without her.
The great Ricky Lawson on drums. He played the single note drum solo on I Will Always Love You. Also, toured with Michael Jackson on the Bad and Dangerous tours. A great artist. We lost him to brain disease. R.I.P. Whitney and Ricky.
