  • You are constantly active and doing something every single day in boot camp. It becomes pretty difficult for you to lose weight.

    Im 5'11'' at 210 pounds. They taped me at 16% body fat (max I can be is 22%). If I stay this exact weight even at the end of bootcamp, will I be able to move forward or will they hold me back even though I'm well under the max bf %?

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bilbo Swaggins You still have to be within weight standards.

    • @robertridgley6196
      @robertridgley6196 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you are under the set bf% you are fine. It is an either or type deal, when you hit the scale and weigh over then they tape you which you already know. They do this because of the simple fact that the extra weight a person has isn't always made up of fat. Lean muscle takes up less space but weighs just as much as fat which is the reasoning behind the tape test. There is a difference between being 5'11 and weighing 210 and being lean and physically fit than being 5'11 210 and being at 30 percent body fat.

    have you decide which stations you want to go after A school yet?

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Donald Tang You don't really get to choose like they say you would. It's really whatever the Navy needs. It also depends on your job, some have better chances than others, but for the most part you don't really get what you want. None of my class mates in A school (10 people) got what they wanted. Its rare when someone gets what they want.

      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +nathan snowden Practice the face movements, right face, left face, parade rest, attention, about face, and etc. If I can think of any I will make a video and let you know. There is more you need to know, but as far as what I can tell you are those.

    What is the PFA? Is that how you rank up?

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Krazykagaaro PFA is Physical Fitness Assessment (push ups, sit ups, and running). If you pass your DEP test and first PFA then yes, you rank up.

    if my max weight is 181 and I am 183 will they send me to boot camp still even though I'm over weight standards

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Austin Puett The best thing I would recommend you is to lose the needed weight now. Even if they let you slide at MEPS they will still weight you in at Boot Camp multiple times throughout your stay. From my division personally those who were over the weight standards were required to do much more Physical Training and were at risk of being set back in training. Diet and exercise to lose that weight now so you won't have it coming back to haunt you later.

    What happens if at the end of boot your still over weight ? Or what if your over and meet the right body fat % ? Do they hold you back ? Lol my max is 152 and I'm 150 so that's why I'm asking

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mikaya Moorleghen By the end of boot camp if you are over the max they will put you in what is called FIT. Where all you do is workout all day every day. If you don't lose it within certain time then yes, they can hold you back.

  • @mikayacox3035
    @mikayacox3035 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happens if your overweight but your body fat percentage is low , what do they do to you at boot ? Do they weigh you when you first get to boot camp ? Like durning the first week with all that medical stuff

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mikaya Moorleghen From what I am aware it doesn't matter. I've heard that some males have high weight in muscles and low body fat, however they still needed to lose weight according to their max.

    Just a quick question. You said in the previous video you left bootcamp as a e-1. I thought after all your testing . You make e-2?

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brandon M Yes, you can. If Testing you mean by DEP Test and PFA.
      During PFA the machine didn't count one of my laps around the track and came up short so I failed.

    • @moniman114
      @moniman114 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Navy Yoon I'm very confident in my physical fitness as well as testing, do the RDCs really only choose 10% of recruits? Meaning I can't just become an e-2 from my fitness and testing feats alone? If that's the case I need to choose an all male division to raise my chances of being the chosen few to be promoted.

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mani H yes from your Dep Test and PFA it will automatically promote you to E2. Regardless of 10% that does not apply to Dep Test. You cannot choose to be in all male.

    I'm a physically tiny, like barely clearing 5'1 at 125 lbs and I'm worried that it's going to be a major setback for me. Will I be able to keep up with all of the other recruits or is it just going to be flat out hell? I mean I am pretty fit and I plan on getting in shape by the time I ship out as in be able to run the 1.5 mile and push-ups and whatnot but I'm still kind of worried.

    • @MrYoonKim
      @MrYoonKim  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ellilta Daniel Hey Ellilta, you have not a thing to worry about. For the most part, Navy Boot Camp itself is designed to help people. People who have never worked out, or people who have done some workouts. Not everyone is going to be fit jocks as you might think.
