Amazing and impressive. I have the same kit and i don't even come close to what you do so far. But i still love the build. You made working with pe look like it's easy but that is not, deep respect for that.
17:30 - Depth charges were fitted to both Bismarck & Prinz Eugen and used during Denmark Strait. It was a matter of timing, but if done properly, it befuddled the enemy spotting the fall of shot. Heavy caliber shell splashes and depth charge geysers look the same from many kilometers distance. We fired 4 rounds, but there were 6 splashes. Which is what ? How to correct for the next salvo ?
Sorry I didn't comment on the last update, no excuse, just didn't get to it. The work on the mast was awesome, I couldn't even tell it was repaired! Beautiful work here also, you have the patience of Job! Eagerly awaiting the next update!
Hi Steve, Nice work, but should the awningrails around the stairs not be put on the other way round? The vertical side is at the point where the stairs meet the deck, and the hatch opens to the side and not to the back.
Again, wonderful to watch you work. I could be wrong, but it looks like the awning covers (on the open hatches) @29:54 are backwards? Wouldn't they be "open" to the rear, allowing descent and angle down as one descended? The bar facing the hatch would prevent the hatch from closing as well. This would also funnel airflow below decks.
There is Jerry. I’m going by an aerial photo taken whilst the ship was in grimstadfjord showing the light colour on Caesar. Hatch covers: I looked at a photo as I was fitting them and still got them wrong……
The depth charge rack on Bismarck was really more or less a test. As far as i know the plan was to drop them during combat to confuse the enemy gunnery with false shell splashes. There are no reports (that i know of) on its effectiveness or if they were even used at all during Operation Rheinübung, but thats no surprise regarding how that voyage ended.
It is a pleasure watching a master applying PE. Just out of curiosity, what CA are you using while assembling the PE. With the PE I use; I do not get enough working time.
excellent work on pe on the quarter deck
Cheers Mick
Looking good Steve, lots of details...
Thanks John.

Build it the way you want to and are comfortable with Edwin As long as you enjoy your building that’s all that matters 👍
Great progress Steve.
Thanks Chris

You’re not wrong - senior moment I’m afraid 😞
Another excellent video.
There is so much confusion about the colour of the turret tops.
Also. You have the hatch rail covers the wrong way round !

Just wow !!!
👍
Very nice well done
Cheers Kelvin 👍
Looks great to me.
Thanks Paul
Was wondering if you intend on placing the faded national flag on the decking. It was painted over somewhat but still visible. Thanks
Yes I am Jurgen but not sure yet how to represent it.
Steve excellent job as allways. Just wondering will you taking the HOOD as well . they would make a excellent pair together
No - I think after taking her all the way last year I’d
be tempting fate a bit too much doing that again. She’s safely tucked up out of the way.
Those pieces that go on the capstan's stem are most probably part of the locking mechanism.
Probably so - they’re not really visible especially painted black.
Interested to know what the two pieces of equipment are under Caesars barrels? Do the instructions or your research tell us?
15 cm and 10.5 practice loading machines.
Working breeches, loaded exactly like the actual guns - but used inert rounds and dummy cartridges.

I generally use a medium CA - about 10 secs cure time. I have 4 grades ranging from about 4 secs to around 20.
