That has thrown me off before, replaced the MAF sensor but on the snap on scanner had to "reset lambda values" before the code would clear. Even the component replacement resets wouldn't do it. After clearing the MAF code it started doing its own driven regen by itself within about 10 mins of driving 👍👍 happy days
Sprinters often leak from inlet manifold and smoke machine doesnt have enough pressure you need special pressure testing gear to put compressed air in it.
I'm cheap I just use what I have a tire valve / spare tire as the compressor and some soapy water pressure rise to about 10 to 15 psi and go bubble hunting
smoke machine is not available in lot of garages its a mythical creature to the techs with 30yrs of experience , now when anyone says experienc for (n number of years) in garage {last i went the tech said he worked on astin martin's) yep i am going to have to re- do work that he did (its a situation to be faced)
I'm not impressed with smoke machines, one of my mechanic mates has one. He was unable to find an leak, I used my pressure tester on the intake and it found it immediately. Those sprinters suffer with intake manifolds splitting, with the oil you have down the n/s, it's either the manifold or throttle valve seals leaking. I'm a mobile Mercedes specialist, worked for merc for 15years before going on my own.
Hi ,any idea wat I should do ,I changed maf sensor on sprinter and the fault keeps coming back,do I need to give it a good drive before it resets thanks
@wexwayne No, nearly 100% of the time you have a leak on the intake system. Put your original maf sensor back in unless you bought it from Mercedes, what year sprinter?
@ sprinter is2013 it was sluggish in 1st and 2 nd gear changed maf and now running perfect just engine light keeps coming back on dash? Diagnostic throwing up same 2 faults
@wexwayne I'll be very surprised if it's only the maf, usually the intake manifold leaks especially on a 651 engine. Maf does require adaption data reset and teaching in
The garage says we don't have a smoke machine, really means we don't want to get involved with that because we only want the handy quick service jobs

A smoke machine would be a good buy if you did not use it in work you could have a we disco in the house with it at the weekend.

Made mine 5 years ago, it works perfect.
merc had a broken exh manifold bolt .
She'd have been cheaper/more efficient buying a smoke machine herself.
