  • We do not have specific drugs/medications to help treat or manage the condition of Fibromyalgia. Because of this (and due to the fact that the predominant kind of pain experienced by patients with Fibromyalgia involves a sensitised nervous system - nociplastic pain); Fibromyalgia and other chronic pains, lend themselves to a holistic way of approaching their management rather than relying on medication or interventions.
I explain more in this video.

Although what you said holds truth, for a lot of us reducing stress, eating healthy all the time, sleeping, and exercising the amount of time you need for pain relief is not realistic. I live a high stressed life. I've tried countless times to be consistent but there is no way to constantly stay on top of it because life happens. And when it does it sets us back 3- 5 days minimum. We need grace. It's a disability. Our system is frazzled. We need time that life doesn't really permit. The meds help, but none of us really want to be on them. This disability needs to be classified as a real disability under ssi.

Yes! As a Fibromyalgia sufferer, I completely agree, I've had to find my own ways to survive, pain killers are useless. Thank you for your explanations.

I’ve been using diversional therapy for my symptoms of anxiety, having fibromyalgia. I know we all can’t live without stress, however if you can minimise your stress levels, it will benefit you greatly. When I can calm my nerves, the severity of some of my symptoms lesson. When I experience hyper vigilance and my nerves are in overdrive, it triggers every fibre of my nervous system and I crash, in pain. Psoriatic arthritis is my latest diagnosis, it feels as though my body is on, fight or flight mode. Being anxious about lack of sleep, always feeling exhausted, making sure you eat correctly and being mindful about your mental health has become a full time job in itself. You live your life, day by day, coping the best way you know how. Having the right team of health professionals, to aid you in managing your symptoms is crucial. It had taken me nearly 20yrs to realise a traumatic water skiing accident may be the cause of my fibromyalgia syndrome. The thought of loosing the ability to walk was shattering and it traumatised me greatly. I defied the odds, and doctors, I’m still walking.

Women with fibromyalgia have a prevalence of a perineural cyst 42%. According to the NIH . Tarlov cyst disease a focal dilation of the nerve root sheath usually located in the sacrum . Can be at any level. Surgery available yet not advisable . A new approach with epidural steroid injections. Can make for pain free fibromyalgia. Ask how.

What is the neurobiology of the cognitive impairment in Fibromyalgia? Is it similar to ADHD? Or is ADHD is the comorbid condition with FM?
