Psychological Therapies, Long Covid and Chronic Fatigue
Compromised clinical studies have been the cause of much controversy in how we approach psychological therapies when treating conditions such as Long Covid and Chronic Fatigue.
Studies such as the Pace studies led us to believe that psychological therapies should be the primary means of treating CFS and ME. In reality, such therapies should NOT be the mainstay of such treatment - only a part of a wider range of treatments for patients.

Managing pain involves the whole body.

Are you ready for a pain management plan?
มุมมอง 11221 วันที่ผ่านมา
Are you ready for a pain management plan? It's not an easy question to answer as it's not simply a question of saying 'I'm ready...' In fact when assessing your readiness for a PMP, its more a question of where you are mentally with your pain and your willingness to take on the necessary behaviour changes to ensure lasting results from the plan. Thank you for your channel and your knowledge. It is so refreshing and promising to see a medical professional with this vast understanding of the complexity of these conditions. They all overlap in so many ways and it is so often common for medical professionals to want to lump them all in particular boxes. Thank you for your work.

I think you'd agree if you have to leave out certain food groups for whatever reason. You must find out which nutrients you may be depleting from your diet in doing so and making it up in some other way. No meat, vitamin b12 and heme iron are missing. So supplements to restore those elements is probably wise. Plus periodic testing to make sure you have enough in your system. If certain grains are out then you have to find alternatives for fiber. You can have food restrictions but always find substitutions for nutrients lost in the process. Best practice speak to a nutritionist.

I greatly appreciate your video Dr. I’m 44 years old and I have had long COVID since October 2023. I lost my dad to COVID and my mother was on a ventilator and hospitalized for 51 days. Just recently I’ve been researching fibromyalgia and I have every common symptom of fibromyalgia. Some days it’s so bad I don’t feel like being alive. My primary care Dr. just shrugs of the idea of fibromyalgia and basically says it’s not even scientific. I would love to hear your input for any relief I could get because I truly don’t know how long I can continue living this way. Thank you for caring about us sometime forgotten casualties of COVID.

I am paying attention to my body.i have periods when the fatigue is so severe that i have to myself and then get burned out so easily. It seems I wake up with a thumbnail of energy and try to move the world with it. My body sometimes behaves as if it wants to just give up. Today I noticed a wave of fatigue and ask Siri about allergies and CFS and wow. I’m testing myself to see if the use of an anti histamine will help. Wish me luck! Never stop looking for your answers

Love this Deepak - this was a very touching video to watch and as you know is the kind of cases I work with every day. To realise the connection of trauma and the origins of health issues and help people resolve things is the most beautiful and humbling work and so beautiful to see people heal at such a deep level. It truly feels like an honour to be granted the patients permission to be trusted to work at such a deep painful level with them. I love this work. So well presented Deepak - thank you. Case studies and stories speak so loudly I feel. Rodger Duckworth

Thank you for this. You may have already heard about this, but ME/CFS researchers have developed a hypothesis called the itaconate shunt hypothesis that explains how the innate immune system drastically lowers the amount of energy produced in the mitochondria. It’s worth looking into. Rob Phair is one of the lead researchers.

  • @feloniusdrunk

One thing that gets my stress levels raised is the idea of a fibromyalgia diagnosis being interpreted as not really an illness, or that it's all in the mind. My particular favourite is the snide question you get from medical practitioners such as "Were you diagnosed by a rheumatologist"? Actually it's an appalling question to ask. To any other doctors who may be reading this: avoid being punched in the face by your patients by first checking the notes before opening your mouth.

I tried so many diets. I only found any kind of relief with carnivore but I understand that everyone is different. I think when you get tired of the pain, you're pretty much willing to try anything. I'll eat this way forever if it keeps the pain down. Make sure to supplement with iodine and electrolytes!

I’ve had chronic pain since childhood, misdiagnosed as juvenile RA thankfully I didn’t take all the steroids that would otherwise would have ruined my growing body like it did my sister’s. I discovered about a year ago my symptoms are fibromyalgia not RA. Pain meds do no really work. I also discovered after my fibromyalgia discovery that I am on the spectrum (AuDHD). athe worst times of my fibromyalgia flare up is when I am approaching a meltdown or a shutdown.
