I thought of the Signal Tower so much when listening to the Shopping Mall episode too! I’m surprised I haven’t see anyone draw the similarities sooner. I’ve been loving your Little Nightmares videos so much. Your ideas are always so fresh and the way you explain them is cohesive and easy to follow! You structure your videos very smoothly and I love how thoroughly you explain every piece of evidence and concept you use when analyzing.
13:05, that is so interesting to note, makes you think about the loop Mono traps himself in. He as thin man literally stole six to make her the new "keeper" of the tower but never takes into consideration that his younger self doesnt hate her the way he does after the betrayal, a betrayal that maybe wouldnt have happened if him as the thin man hadn't stolen her into the tower and taken away the humanity six still had. I love this game so much😭
Now that I think about it that’s really cool that he basically stole six to use as a host for the tower without destroying the city and trying to rescue his younger self as like “hey stop I’m trying to save you don’t trust her I already trapped her”
This theory was extremely interesting! Theater of the Mind was always my favorite episode that fascinated me the most. I love your interpretation for what this mall could be. My personal theory is that the mall is the signal tower. The signal tower shows many strange properties that can seemingly be manipulated in a moment, and I think it somehow changes it's appearance in Noone's head. I believe Mono suffers extreme Monophobia which would explain the feelings of loneliness and the desperation of the voice. Mono's goal in the signal tower would be to take children away by offering their desires so he has company (he could also be trying to find and take Six on the side) but he fails. I think in the end the children wouldn't quite escape without the help of the Ferryman or being able to wake up to the regular world, leaving the glitched remains. When Noone quotes the Ferryman, her voice glitches. I think this was Mono trying to prevent him from speaking so he wouldn't interfere. That's just my theory anyway. Great video, keep up the good work!
Oooo, I like that. Well, no, I hate it actually, it's super depressing, but it makes a good bit of sense. In this case, I imagine it could be exploiting Mono's mono/autophobia to ensure a continual supply of fresh bodies to... keep itself "alive"? Grow? That would explain why Thin Man leaves behind the glitching remains, as the Tower/Mall has no need for their souls, or whatever the glitching remains are.
Personally, my opinion is that all the other dreams are forays into the Nowhere, but this one is an actual nightmare, one greatly affected by the power of the Nowhere but not a direct connection. It’s the most abstract of the dreams, and it reflects Noone’s feelings towards Otto; a disturbing and selfish individual disguised as a comforting gift giver that attempts to goad its “subject” into staying with it. Or it could be Mono in the signal tower. The loneliness theme seems pretty on the nose. Either way, this is definitely the most intriguing dream to me. All the others are obviously just “Noone briefly visits an actual location in the Nowhere” while this one is freaky and abstract.
Your channel is awesome 😭 You’re amazing at your theories! Though with the shopping mall, I’ve always thought that the mall was a manifestation from noone’s fears about otto. The fact that the mall is so desperate to keep her happy and help her while also being selfish and disturbing. It yells to her that no one should be left alone and that she can’t leave “too” implying someone like sisi already having left otto, and he’s desperate to keep noone. I also note that it gives her twisted gifts like the doll and jewels. This parallels the candies he gives her, to make her happy but also shut her up. Also the shadows behind the glass make me think how noone is weary about his shady intentions. idk if the connection to otto is already a thing to everyone and I’m just dumb, but I thought I’d point it out lol
Excellent job again! I’ve been trying to figure out the Shopping Mall myself, but haven’t quite been able to put together the pieces. This really helped! An interesting thing I found: I believe the “main” voice of the Shopping Mall is actually Kester Lovelace (Otto). After listening to some of his other works, it definitely sounds like him. I find it interesting that it is this character that yells, “Everyone needs someone! Don’t leave me alone!” and, “Don’t take her, not this one, too.” These words are foretokens of the sentiments Otto expresses in Chapter 6 as the Ferryman takes Noone away. It’s a nice touch to have two similar characters voiced by the same person, and a clever bit of foreshadowing that manifests upon rewatching.
After hearing the 3rd chapter, I also drew parallels from the Mall and Signal Tower. And how somethings seemed similar to Mono. What I also found intriguing was finding a video from Bandai Namco about Little Nightmares II where Derren Brown(is that spelled right?) and towards the end he mentions, “The Theater of the Mind.” I just found it very interesting that this was before the podcast was even started.
Ooh good connection, I forgot about that line..."the theater of the sleeping mind." Usually the term is applied to radio but it makes so much sense in the context of dreams...

The Mall was always the dream I found most intriguing. I want to know more about it and the Signal Tower and how they function, but that would require us to see more places like them, thus suggesting they are a regular occurrence. That would make them seem less special. Normal even, or at least what passes for normal in the Nowhere. That would make the great tragedy of LN2 like an almost regular event, just a thing that happens, and all the lesser for it. I like to think they could function almost akin to focal points of the Nowhere, being the most extreme examples of how twisted the nightmare realm is. The idea that these living "buildings" require these Keepers to properly function seems plausible. It would help explain the apparent cycle of the Maw (if it, too, is one of these living structures), why an evidently weak and broken Shopping Mall seemingly also had no resident, and why the Signal Tower pursued Mono so relentlessly, either exploiting his or its own time-warping abilities purely to lock him in the time paradox. That would also explain why it seemingly becomes so enraged when Mono frees Six, because it knows if it doesn't catch one of them, it's all over.
I really need to write a fic now about a child that becomes the Host for the Mall. Someone as lonely, atificial and desperate for company as th Mall itself

Excited to listen to all your videos about the podcast. The podcast was amazing. I still love listening to them.
Hi Hi! So I have maybe a couple things only to say, as most of your theory bore a lot of good fruit, some of which is plausible, and some that I agree with entirely. Firstly, however, it was deemed that Six ALWAYS had a cruel heart to begin with, if we were to take into account the theory that Ln2 is prequel to Ln1 when she first brutally kills a Bully Doll in the school with her bare hands savagely, and started cracking the mannequin hand's fingers in the hospital level all of which is before her visit to the tower. Though losing her glitching remain, as LN2 dubs them, could've only increased her cruelty. As they say, "Someone with no soul feels nothing inside" if you catch my drift, so if we go back to my previous comment where I said Six displays signs of Sociopathy, it would mean that her cruel tendacies that she was displaying behind a facade would be all laundered out after losing her "Soul" which is why she never helps anyone like she did in VLN before, and practically becomes murderous. Speaking of VLN, your theory of her losing her innocence bears quite a bit of truth especially since she was there when the braid girl first helped her, then the braid girl, if you played VLN, shuts Six outside of a wooden shed, mistaking her for the monster chasing her. Six at that moment could've felt some true forgiveness, as she comes back at the end to attempt to save braid girl from the Pretender by crushing the monster girl with a huge Boulder, and not knowing the Pretenders weakness, witnessed the creature child leap back to her feet and in a last attempt to save herself, Six witnesses braid girl fall off after luring the Pretender over the edge. During that time, while falling, the Pretender nears closer and closer to braid girl, which leads to both their demise as the braid girl withered away, leaving her coat, and the Pretender, who was in a nutshell the wicked witch of the west. Six could've lost hope after seeing her savior's coat being the only thing left of her, which is why it brings so much comfort. Secondly, the meaning of Noone getting rid of the pendant may be deeper than you described, since I think of the concept of "to grow, is to let go". To emerge to the other side safely, Noone had to "let go" of the pendant she so truly desired. Thirdly (I know I said maybe a couple, but I have more on my mind), you say that "a place that has lost their keeper is deemed obsolete", and that I find interesting because in VLN, the Pretender was, at most, the keeper of the nest, and everything within. Would you, in a sense, say that the nest would be rendered obsolete as well, and, in a word, collapse like the Shopping mall did in "Sounds of Nightmares", and the signal tower in Ln2? But what of the residents within the Nest? Would they simply die off because the ferryman decided that the Nest was no longer relevant without the child antag? Fourth, and finally, I agree with what you said about the photos on the wall in the signal tower, and how they may represent her past, present, and future, but you focused on present, and a little bit on past, but speculated the future. Ther are several pictures and portraits scattered about the pale city, but you focused on only four in the signal tower that can be, as far as we know, seen without obscurity. Remember what the description of the Nowhere and Ferryman says? That a soul so tortured are the only ones allowed to pass unless the torturer (for lack of better term) deals enough pain to cross through themselves? What if the girl with long hair and yellowed white dress WAS Six, but Six before she crossed over? Six, before her short hair? It is popular belief that Hair holds memory, so to cut it would make you feel "anew" if you were in some sort of trauma. The grandma like face could be the interpretation of how Six viewed her torturer: a hag like, cruel, ugly woman. After all, children by the age of nine know well enough good from evil, and can still make a picture of how they view their elders. In a sense, the hag woman, and the long hair girl would be her past-the past she doesn't want to remember (which could explain the scratched up face), the her in the yellow coat as her present, and monster six her potential future before Mono saved her, and she went on this darkened massacre. What if she was never meant to leave, but DID? Anyway, that's my spiel on the video. Sorry it's long, friend, and I hope you have yourself a good day😊.
I love your theory videos and hope to see more of your amazing, detailed videos. I WANT TO WATCH THE ENDER MAGNOLIA VIDEO SO BAD BUT I DONT WANT TO SPOIL MYSELF 🥲🥲🥲
I have a quite intresting theory about The black mist seen all around little nightmares. I think the black mist is the void from hollow knight, this might not make sence, since if you played hollow knight you might remember the void was a liquid, while the black mist is a mist, obviously. But void is also able to take a solid form, along with a very potient mist so strong its seen as high up as the Ancient Basin elevator in the city of tears. Another way theyre connected is how theyre used, both substances are used to make constructs by very powerful beings, aka the shadow kids, the kingsmolds and wingsmolds. Void also hates light, the runaway kid's flashlight is used to kill the shadow kids. The only reason why the kingsmolds and wingsmolds arent killed in the white palace is because theyre heavily armored, and the void also dosent die in the radiance arena because it is strengthened by the knight using the void heart, so thats my theory, its quite the stretch but as a semi-retired youtuber said "its just a theory".
I do wonder if we will get the Shopping Mall in LN3 if not, it leaves a lot to wonder. Would it be more powerful than the signal tower? or maybe less influencial than it. Or maybe it's the same creature as the signal tower, finding a way to catch people in a better way than TVs
Do you know when Noone tells Otto the ferry man talks to her Otto gets anxious and a little static sounds on the background and thin man song is played. You can even hear things man’s steps. Is the same song when Mono fights Thin man. I guess when ferry man tells Otto that a quarter will be granted is that Otto gets granted a quarter of himself going there as a Kid (Mono) if you want to hear my whole theory i have a video in my channel.
Hey m8 love your videos but there is something which I wanted to ask regarding the entities so as we have seen in the LN 2 ending that signal which was using future mono manage to possess mono of the current timeline too and then raise him into the thinman and that same thinman goes to the past to save his past self so that means the same signal tower is existing into this time loop it safe to say that the signal might be entity without origins which is just existing but there is no backstory or anything and same signal tower is changing its host when loop resets
Perhaps! We know next to nothing about the Signal Tower, so your guess is as good as mine. I'm just personally more interested in the Tower having some kind of Eldritch origin 😁
It could be that the Ferryman keeps an eye on kids that have recently entered dreams and takes them away if they aren't a good "fit" per se. Mono is a very lonely person, so he fits right in with a world where everyone feels so alone, they literally escape through the television. Six is a very goal oriented person, like a predator on the hunt, so she wound up in a place where it's a giant hunting ground where everyone hunts everyone else. Maybe if Noone was a more materialistic person, the ferryman would've left her at the mall to indulge in the luxury
I like this idea a lot! The Ferryman "testing" children at various locations to see how they respond does sound like something he would do.

Yes I want to like to see more theories on the podcast
new sub love these theories keep it up
what if the cycle can be broken by each host dyeing and the child haveing the will to leave and not stayeing to repeat the former hosts fate
I searched "Origin of Mono" and the 3rd chapter was the 2nd result.....HMMMMMMM
B**** when since does hollow knight and LN take place in the same universe
I do wonder if we will get the Shopping Mall in LN3
if not, it leaves a lot to wonder. Would it be more powerful than the signal tower? or maybe less influencial than it. Or maybe it's the same creature as the signal tower, finding a way to catch people in a better way than TVs
I hope we do since I just wouldn’t make sense to have it in there if we don’t get to experience it ourselves
Wow great way of FREE ADVERTISEMENT.
I'm just personally more interested in the Tower having some kind of Eldritch origin 😁
any idea what the intentions of the eye creatures are beyond self preservation? is it only self preservation?
That's a good question...beyond self preservation and growth, I'm honestly not sure 🤔
I thought the thumbnail was referring to the character at first
