    Hello from India!
    Hey Brooke, can you make a special video for international students like what things to keep in mind while applying as international, what should they do to impress admissions and how to stand out in an american college admissions system or just your thoughts as admissions counselor and etc.
    Also, most of the things you mentioned like community college, summer school, research or even those start-up programs, unfortunately, lot of us don't have those resources or concept that high school students do that.
    Since more and more number of international students are applying, seeking information and watching your videos. It'll be really great if you would make a video on it!!! :)

      I was thinking the same thing, since a lot of options like classes or research at community colleges or being able to work with political campaigns as a high school student aren't feasible outside of the US. I would be found it helpful applying to college a few months ago, I'm glad I'm done with the stressful process and have gotten into Brown though

    Remember to always be positive. Determination is key, your mindset is the strongest tool you can have. If you want it, you have it. Nothing stands in your way, shape your life. Manifest your life. Want to go to Harvard? Then go to Harvard. You can and you will. Fake it til' you make it, your dreams are infinite. The possibilities are too.

I also cold emailed about 39 CS and ECE professors at my local university and I will be working on a research project with a team there! Some advice from me to anyone who is interested on working on a research project with a university, is to just ask. The worst they can say is no and they usually will just redirect you to another program the school has to offer.

    An idea is University of Wyoming’s Summer Research Apprentice Program (SRAP) which provides minority, first-generation and female students with the opportunity to gain hands-on research experience in a collegiate setting. But you don't need to fall into those categories. From personal experience I saw many participate in this program who had none of those attributes. And you don't need to be from Wyoming. I saw many participants from other states for example Texas and Wisconsin. My two sons did a total of 5 SRAP summers and had great experiences. Neither of them were minority or first-generation. A quick description is do research mentored by a UW faculty mentor, live in dorms and experience something like college life, get paid, prepare a poster, and give a presentation. I'll bet there are similar programs elsewhere.

      Pro tip: talk to your councilor about taking 9th grade math during the summer so you can skip a year in math it’s common in my school and it also works for science subjects but the most useful is the half semester credits you need for graduation (for my school that would be financial literacy and a specific PE class)

    My high school offers this early college and what that means is basically we start college our junior year of high school and we all come to the high school then after first period ride a school bus to the college campus and come back for 6th and 7th period and do this everyday, my friends and I have been accepted into the program and will be starting this year. They also give you the option to get your associate's degree so me and my friends decided to do that so when we graduate high school we will have that and also it's free at our school

I want my brother to be in a better position. He has mostly B’s and trying to get A’s now that he has been identified as having high-functioning autism. Are there any programs you suggest for him to best prepare? Does he have a better chance in college or worse because of his learning disability? Please share your thoughts, thank you.

    #2 is not a good idea. I couldn't find a college from NY to CO that had a college course that didn't overlap with the end of the HS year. There may have been courses for the second half of summer, but the prerequisite was the first half of the summer. Our son did it anyways, because we didn't know if his school was going to have physics for his junior year, and they definitely weren't going to have AP. So everyday we were running him to the local college, then to his HS, and then back again on some days. He had no time to study for his HS finals, but he did manage to keep up with physics though he missed several lectures, a lab and something else. He also got all his HS projects completed. His school and teachers were very accommodating, but it was crazy making for all (3 grandparents, 2 parents, friends if family were all needed for shuttling him around).
    If your school district does dual enrollment I think you can setup classes during the school year, but that wasn't an option in our district.

    Wow- I'm a rising senior at Williams College, a highly competitive college, and lot of these suggestions sound TERRRRIBLEEE. If you're a high school student do something that you're interested in. If you're into taking college classes in your free time (I definitely wasnt) then do it but it can mean a lot more for your college application to invest your time into something that you love. Don't let this process turn you into a robot. You still need to enjoy life and be happy.

    Hi Brooke, I know this is an older video but I just wanted to ask for advice about creative projects to do related to the medical field. One of my friends wants a career in the film and directing industry and she worked on a documentary, then got a 4-year renewable scholarship to the university of her choice. This left me a little stuck because I can’t come up with any creative ideas or projects that can show my interest in the medical field. (If you don’t see this I hope anyone else can help lol)

    • @ahmadamali3953
      @ahmadamali3953 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      UCLA and NYU don’t REQUIRE SAT subject test, it won’t hurt to do them and you should aim for 670+ on each subject test for the calibre of schools you’re mentioning above. But if youre going to sacrifice time to study for your school exams then don’t particularly bother.

    I got a 1570 composite sat (790 RW 780 Math). I am a 2nd semester junior. Is it worth it to take the act? I’m aiming for some of the more selective colleges and I know a lot of applicants take both tests. I haven’t done any practice and I doubt I could do much better on the act.

    The second idea is just fine, except colleges don't offer full courses to HS students over the summer. They offer seminar style classes. The colleges here have two condensed summer sessions. Unfortunately the first one overlaps about 1 month with the endof the HS year. So our son had to take college physics, while finishing his sophomore year, maintaining his school work, completing year end projects and portfolios, preparing for exams, local, Regents, AP and SAT subject exams, while learning his physics out of the text book, because he had to miss occasional lectures, one quiz and 1 lab, which left him zero room for error. We needed every grandparent, and even friends of grandparents to get him from HS to the college and back to HS each day, except days he started at college, then went to HS, or went to HS the college then home or.... It was crazy making, and somehow he managed to maintain his grades in all classes, and get an A in physics.
    The second summer session was not useful, because it was course ll which had a prerequisite of course l which overlapped with HS.
    It won't hurt his college application, but the colleges he applies to will have no idea of how much effort it took. They'll just see it as one summer course.
    We checked every local college, and every college in a city that he had a relative in. Their were no courses he could take that didn't overlap with HS. And it was only with great flexibility from the HS and his teachers that even made it possible.

    Hi 👋 I’m an international student from Turkey! Last summer, I am at 11th grade right now, I became the first in a national science competition and besides a huge cash price and meeting professors who helped me after on my projects, I got a full ride for a college summer program. I participated in the whole course except for the last two days because months ago my family had planned a holiday to Greece and everything was paid. Even though I’ve been there for nearly a month, the university didn’t accept to give me a certificate. Should I provide images with my friends etc. from there or is it okay to say I participated there without giving any photos or certificates?

    Since most universities are generally more liberal, will it hurt me to help a conservative candidates campaign, or will it be beneficial regardless?

    • @SupertutorTV
      @SupertutorTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most schools try to be "unbiased" and want to foster dialogue and diversity. That includes conservatives even if they seem to be populated with more liberals. It really shouldn't hurt you as long as you don't wax poetic about your political ideas in your essays, assert that you're intolerant or better than everyone else, or deride the left for paragraphs on end.
