This is a total masterpiece. He talked about this song being a love triangle. How he was madly in love with someone and another person was madly in love with him and it never amounted to anything. The lyrics are absolutely amazing. I love this artist so much.
Yes, & in case they aren’t aware before George came out publicly as a gay man he was bisexual and had been with women. Briefly dated Brooke Shields. And Kathy Jeung (his co-star in the “I want your sex video “) was his girlfriend for a couple years. I believe George really wanted a man who didn’t want him & Kathy really wanted George but he had to end things because he knew he couldn’t be “the boy for her” so to speak. If you listen to the lyrics it’s “mister” & then “sister”. Cowboys & Angels. Men & women. For the man he wanted it was “it’s the ones who resist that we most want to kiss wouldn’t you say?” For the woman he couldn’t carry on with it was “it’s the ones who persist for the sake of a kiss who will pay”. Listen to the song in the knowledge of that & it all makes perfect sense. Absolutely beautiful & genius! My favorite artist ever

This song and “Kissing a Fool” (which is one you should give a try) are my two favorite works by the amazing George Michael.
One of George’s best songs is “Kissin a fool”. Watch the video It’s in an old school garage with 4,instruments. Really great. I just saw a commercial last week where the Rock was playing “Kissin a fool” driving down the road n singing to it.

You should definitely see a concert of his. I recommend for example A Different Corner or Outside live at the BBC or also his MTV unplugged concert and there the cover version of I Can't Make You Love Me. I can also recommend Jesus To A Child.
Please do some more live performances from George, I will give you some suggestions: His version of "I Can't Make You Love Me" at the MTV Unplugged session is legendary IMO. First of all, it is one of the best songs ever written and then having George sing it - magical. His performance of "Somebody To Love" at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert is mind-blowing. His performance of Stevie Wonder's "Love Is In Need Of Love Today" or "Killer/Papa Was A Rolling Stone" at the Concert Of Hope are both just great. His performance of "A Different Corner" at the Parkinson Show (BBC) is so amazing. If you are ever going to do a WHAM song it should be either "Everything She Wants", "I'm Your Man" or if you want to see a live performance of the WHAM period it should be "Blue" - live in China. Wham was the first western band to perform in China. It is so funny to watch the people. They had no idea what to do, they had never heard music like that before. Really you can react to any live performance and you will be blown away. Thanks for reacting to George.

Great, rich song in every level with real violins. It does not have just layers of synths and samples over another but space and room for the singer and the saxophone solo.

Cowboys and Angels according to the LEGEND himself was a crazy love triangle that he was in. In which he wanted a Man and was never given the time of day Hence Cowboys a woman wanted him. Hence the Angels and nothing ever happened he was left alone again so he penned Cowboys and Angels.
You are correct - definitely has a throw back, jazz quartet feel. It's a stunning song. Would not fuzz too much on the lyrics, as a listener you just accept the artists interpretation.- The entire album LISTEN WITHOUT PREJUDICE is a GEM . - You should def react to HEAL THE PAIN from the same Album.
