Watched one video that was suggested and i was hooked mate, give me the motivation to fight my PTSD and take the little one down the canal for some fun on light tackle he even caught two pike at the age of 7! Thank you sir!
Good man get on the bank.. take some maggots to drown for the kids on a float rod. Just incase u blank... We do all the time but there's always greedy perch or 2 about.
Fair play to you. This has to be one of the most entertaining fishing channels ever. I could imagine this being a hit series during the golden days of TV, back in the past. Completely original, and you never seem to run out of new ideas. Brilliant stuff!
Massive shout out to Shaun, top man!! Chris is back with a banging video, we love surface fishing, it's always exciting. Keep the great content coming! 🎣💥💥💥
I don't know why your channel wasn't doing well. I really enjoy it especially when you're fishing small rivers. I don't get too much fishing in these days as my legs are failing and body shop does nothing in my size so your videos take me to the water's edge. Thanks
Every time I watch this channel ,I end up spinning out and about ,keep up the good work ,I introduced two anglers to pike spinning now it's all they do I've created two monsters 😳
I must have missed this when it came out! I can remember fishing a small lake that through the summer was full of frogs and grass snakes which would hunt the frogs alongside the perch, especially in the shallows. It’s easy to see that the pike, at the top of the food chain, wouldn’t turn its snout up at a quick and relatively easy meal. I’ve seen a homemade version of one of these,I’m pretty sure it involved cotton reels, so maybe taken from the Ladybird book of Pike Fishing?
Brilliant that buddy, again proving changing the presentation makes the fish more curious, good to hear there is still good people in this world that was absolute class to help you out with that equipment, agin cracking show , cracking fish and a escape for thirteen minutes bliss ❤️❤️
Hi 👋 This is my first time watching your channel and I like your non pretentious style.. fun session chasing pike with the snake 🐍 lure .. I never imagined you could use this type of lure .. I have hit your bell 🛎.. and now I have a stack of your content to watch back .. thank you for sharing 👍
i grew up watching ur videos with Sam at hallcroft and grove seeing how far u have some really does make me happy and keeps me wanting to fish more. Keep it up mate.
Supercool shots. Never underestimate the hunger of a pike. I caught a lot of 60-70cm pike with 40-50 cm eels inside their mouth. They are insane and i love em. Love from austria buddy
Angling community are full of super guys, keep up the vids mate and when I need some pike tackle for my day out on Rudyard I'll defo check out your guys shop!
Wicked content bro just subbed and hit the notification bell!😊 Seen a few of your vids already just what I luv smashing some pike regardless of the size!👍
Was interested re your comments about striking when using a hard lure. Never thought about it before but makes sense. Thanks another great video .. Dave B, Chichester West Sussex
Wow, I wish the canals in the south east were that clear. I subscribed really early a few years ago now. It’s been a great honour to see you grow. Here’s to another 100k. 👊
I totally agree with you about the hard baits with the exception of the whopper plopper. my hook-up ratio has been good even with smaller pike. Also great video! I was interested in getting one of those snakes but I think I'll pass now.
Yet another very watchable fishing video even the long shots of the canal looked stunning, one thing I noticed was the shot of the malard ducks, they only had one chick, which leads me to suggest a surface duckling lure of sorts may be as deadly, thanks again for such an enjoyable video.
Lovely stuff. Have you ever thought of putting a polarised lense in front of the gopro so we can see what you see when you're wearing your polarised glasses?
Great stuff chris i have been using the Savage Gear snake since it was released there awesome lures not many people know the lure has 2 connecting points one for surface fishing the other makes it swim just below the surface it's deadly nice video chris thanks for posting it,
love me some top water action I even wrote an article about it which featured in pike predator magazine back in the days of print lol I have used the snake successfully a couple of occasions think my favourites are the fruck and also the spro bbz rat the fruck for getting right on top of the weeds and tempting them out and for whatever reason the bbz rat seems to switch them on when other lures get nowt more than just a follow could be the rattle in them anyway top vid mate
I saw a Pike take a Grass Snake on a local canal - a chance in a lifetime (or two!). One swirl on the surface, another subsurface and the sanke had gone. The snake and the Pike were of not disimilar lengths and the efficiency of the Pikes actions suggested experience and specialised feeding in a place where both species exist.
I find that for top-water lures one should simply retrieve the lure until you feel the resistance of a bite, and not deciding when to set the hook by merely watching the splash on the surface. When fishing for shakehead I got so mad that I wasnt getting any proper hook set but tons of bites, that at some point I just continued the retrieve, which proved to be the way to actually catch them.
They sure are in there and willing. I'd like to see a much larger snake lure. If they take rats and mice, well maybe the bigger ones would smash it. Nice job again, such nice photography.
Great video Chris... May fave type of fishing, topwater blow-ups are epic! I have noticed that once a Pike hits a topwater and missed it rarely has another go, whereas Perch will hit it again till they get iry (more competitive?). But great vid, and inspiring me to run out after work at 7 for a couple of hours :)
Are you serious I think its total neglect hence my comment a treble barbed hook near the eye and nothing to disinfect it just launch the fish back to get disinfected yeah good shout fella...I would never treat any freshwater fish like that no matter what species...and yes I'm a carp angler but go for pike in the winter
Nice video, as usual. May I ask you? Do you plan your fishing days based on the weather, or you just go? Because I cannot go whenever I want, so I always try to go with low pressure and overcast, but I've caught three pikes in two years…
Maaate. You can catch one in every type of weather. I have my rod and a small tacklebox in my car. Whenever I need to kill half an hour I find a spot and fish it!
Go early morning and evenings for the best action. Buy a couple of decent crank lures 5-6cm and your should catch 2-3 a session no problems. If you aren't catching it's more maybe your technique. Give it a few winds a bit of a jerk then pause... then the pike should smash it. 12 in a 2/3 hour session is my best so far.
Thank you everyone for you replies. I wonder if it can be because I go fishing in city canals? I don't have a car, so I have to go and fish in the canals in the city centre. Could it make a difference?
@@giorgiotatananni9652 I'm my opinion could boat traffic people etc.. but if you go early / late you don't get that as much. Canals can great venues. What size lures? And are you using a large reel maybe? Ps my area of predator fishing is hard crank jerkbaits and such
Have you any tips for fishing frogs? I’ve bent my hooks out a bit and tried waiting a couple seconds before striking but missed about 10 blowups in the last week. So frustrating. Thinking maybe my rod isn’t stiff enough? been using 8-20g rod but it’s quite stiff. Drags tightened right up using .30 mm braid and a .80mm fluro trace.
Yea, a bit stronger rod wouldnt be a bad idea, also bend the hooks on your frog a bit outward from the frogs body. They are probably lined up right against the body, so just bend them 1mm out. It will still be quite weedless unless you are casting into really really grassy stuff and the hook up ratio will be quite better.
My hook up rate with frogs is horrendous - must be less than 5%! I’ve tried everything, bending the hooks out, delaying the strike, striking really hard straightaway ……you name it. Only top water lure that has reasonable hook up rate is the Whopper Plopper - and that’s still only 50%. But top water is far more exhilarating than any other form of fishing. And so addictive.
Hi Mate, i love your videos. Great job! I do use savage gear lures on sea and fresh water and must say that they never let me down. Did you know that pike can eat fish 2/3 of their own length? Also pike can grow up to 60cm in one year from they hatch if they have enough of food 😃 Tight lines mate!
I don't know about that mate but, muskie will go after a hard bait here mate. Always remember that a bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work.
Chris just wondering when do u stop fishing for pike cuz i have heard different things and have asked fox rage but not got a response. My localish canal has loads of jacks and i want to catch on some top water lures
Don't fish in hot temperatures and just basically use common sense. One of the lakes I know has to have aerators to keep the carp alive in hot weather. That's no different but they don't stop fishing for them.
@@darthpictus6445 it's one of those spikey issues and it would be different from one angler to the next in his opinion. So many factors effect oxygen levels... Just use common sense.
@@darthpictus6445 10c is very low I think the water has less oxygen at 10 than at 15 degrees.
