While the prosecution case....one supported by Bernard....has more to recommend it than the alib is offered by the defendants a puzzling aspect of the case remains for me....why were there ,as far as I can remember, no sighting of a Passat either going into or coming out of the farm track at a time of day when I assume the road was quite busy and when traffic would presumably be travelling slowly because of the weather. By my calculations ..if Nicholls account is true there were four opportunities to see his vehicle...in...out....in ...out Always seemed a bit odd to me although admittedly not as odd as Jasper s missing six hours....
