How come 2003 was 20 years after this, massive massive changes, looks so so different (1983-2003)....Now go back 20 years from 2024, 2004. Things have slowed down massively. I remember 2004 so clearly, 2024 nothing looks any different.
I know what you mean by that. Things often come and go in phases. I suppose that, ultimately, it's down to what people are around ( they come and go ) what their experiences and attitudes are. Whatever knowledge has been gained is sort of 'lost' when others come in. Things are not always continuously improving; they can go backward too !
Maybe it's a few things: - The Global Financial crisis and the lowering of interest rates = cheap money pumped into property - Increased Migration - Ageing Population (Young people heading and staying in the cities)
I attended gas level monitoring instruments on several LNG tankers at the piers on Canvey in the mid 70's. Security and safety was good, never felt worried about any possible explosions!
Holy crap I never knew about that particular incident I have just watched a video on it after you mentioned it and oh boy yeah I think they should have been more worried than they were. Buncefield looked like Hell on earth
Canvey Island today is just like how it currently is apart from trouble at night and young people messing around with their sports cars on Roscommon Way. Showing off their modified tuner cars on that bit of dual carriageway that goes no where.
Not too long after this, the man at 5:05 won the Islington North seat in the General Election. He also immediately lost his Estuary English accent, adopting more of a middle class broad, south east one. He's still an MP and wears Christmas jumpers, but sadly shaved his beard off! :(
Old Bernie Braine of Billericay clearly wasn't a total thicky, plummy of voice and slightly right by choice, these days it's easy to take the mickey. th-cam.com/video/-6BQ-Hrxp8g/w-d-xo.html

Your culture is dissappearing, that's why. It's a sad reality, but it might not be too late to fix it..

Resigned to their fate, being on Canvey, doesn't matter if you are living or dead, it's all the same.
This almost plays out like a monty python skit
Except for it wasn't funny
Almost??? 😂

I wonder if any of those residents became less blasé after the Buncefield explosion.

"Computer says no".
Reminds me of The Prisoner: "We want INFORMATION...INFORMATION!"
(5:05) He thinks it's all been "blown out of proportion."
The sad fact of today is, any secret would be considered a false truth, and due to the volume of 'news' sources, would be missed or ignored.

No cover up here
This is completely stupid. Canvey Island is like a death trap to anybody. Whatever happened to Fiona Wheeler?
From the thumbnail I thought this was some place Probably at the top of Scotland With a religious cult

Eh? Canvey Island is in Essex near Southend. It's not in Kent.
