You have a lot of very interesting extracurricular activities that you did. I honestly never even heard of Science Olympia. Probably would've joined it based on your description.
we’ll lookin at your stats it blows me away like I feel kinda dumb getting a 2 on my AP test while your getting 5s on everything it’s crazy like for someone like me going to high school in detroit where some people can do all this like you
You are really crazy and I love your videos from starting ; you got into top universities , best of luck for you !!! . I applied but didn't get into ...
Hi Anna, I am so happy for you about your university! I hope you get well soon. I have a SAT related question. I have serious problems with texts from 18 and 19th centuries. How do you think I can get better understanding them?
Thanks so much! The best way to improve your understanding is to practice reading old essays/books, even outside of the SAT. :) Reading the intro blurb they give at the top/some of the summary questions ahead of time can also help give you context and a framework before you read to make things a bit easier. Good luck!
How're you spending your summer vacation, Anna? If you've been vaccinated, I recommend that you travel to somewhere cold like Michigan and New York this summer with your family. Usually, those states are shivering cold the rest of the year.
Haha I know about Michigan winters far too well (I live there)! I’ve been working at a bakery for the past month + mainly hanging out w my friends/relaxing this summer :)
Cool! You are from Michigan. It's an advantage that you are going to UMich, not too far from your family. I'm happy that you have been spending time with friends this summer vacation. It really soothes the mind.
Hi! The biggest thing in coaching middle schoolers (and high schoolers for that matter) was keeping them engaged! For each event I coached, we had a 1.5-2 hour practice once a week, and I would split that time between a PowerPoint (interspersed w online videos) to teach them the content and more practical things depending on the event, like having them go around at stations and identify real rocks/minerals, listening to bird calls/doing ID practice, or even giving them some time to work on their binders and providing feedback/editing the pages they made to make sure it would be the most useful it can be on competition day. Closer to competition season (and whenever I didn't have a lot of time to prepare), I would put them in random teams and have them do a practice test, grade themselves, and add anything we didn't already have info on to their binders with the answer keys. Hope this helps (and sorry I answered so late!)
Hi Anna! I'm in sci oly this year also doing forensics! I was wondering if you would be able to share your materials and notes with me please? I would greatly appreciate it!!
That's so awesome! I unfortunately can't share my materials since my team still uses them (and I'm also pretty sure I lost access to most of them when my high school email address got deactivated once I graduated,, rip), but best of luck to you :D There are a bunch of resources online in the Scioly subreddit, forums, and discords that could be helpful to you for making a cheatsheet and more
can u please make a video on which sat book is good for practice? and opinions on the princeton review and barrons's... please. or u could just reply to my comment.
I actually don't feel super qualified to talk about SAT books since I didn't really use those to prep, but over on r/sat they have lots of opinions on the best resources :) I have used Barron's books before for AP tests and they seem helpful (but don't always accurately represent the content on the tests perfectly)
Anna, I just have one question- why did you go to the University of Michigan? I mean, it's pretty good but I'm just wondering, Also, you are an awesome student! You got all 5's on your Ap exams..and all As's etc! ~~AZ
Its chemical engineering program is amazing (the best out of all the schools I got into), the campus is close to home/my friends, and I got nearly a full ride scholarship :D truly a win-win-win
hey, I'm an international student, and I'm applying to universities this year. So, I actually need some help regarding the admissions and etc etc. Are you on reddit ?
I am living in casablanca morocco and i want to take ACT but while registering i do not find my city in the choises. Is it just a technical prob or the act is not available. I did contact them but no aswer till now.
I'm not sure, but hopefully they answer you soon! Would it be possible for you to go to a different city to take it (I know I had to do that to take the SAT)? If that doesn't work, then maybe your city offers the SAT and you could take that? Good luck--hope you get it figured out :)
@@annas-universe no moroccan city is on the list, i did not want to take the sat because i find the reading section more absurd and vague, i got in my practice test 770 maths and 600 reading writing
I’m just exhausted hearing all the classes and ECs you did. You must be a great time manager. That’s the problem we have with our high schoolers and starting HS on zoom. But time management too. Our school district doesn’t allow APs in freshman year. Any advise on time management?
It doesn't matter too much whether you take the ACT or the SAT--whichever's easiest or the most convenient for you (most colleges accept either I believe, but you may want to double check that the colleges you're interested in do)
Great! Have you ever thought to drop out of college to start a multi-billion dollars company as our fellow Americans Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Elizabeth Holmes did?
It's probably mainly due to COVID--there were about 60% more applicants than usual, and since so many students took gap years, the acceptance rate was almost half of what it usually is. Also, standardized testing was weighted a lot less heavily than in normal years, so even a perfect score didn't end up mattering that much :0
@@annas-universe My friend got into Harvard without an sat score, but did a lot of extracurricular. I think this year I'll be different for the rising seniors

"blended pe" aka we were only allowed to be active once a week and we still failed

hi anna! your stats and ec's are amazing :000 did you submit any letters of rec to ucla and berkeley?
hi cece! I don't think I did--I'm p sure for the UCs they didn't require/allow letters of rec :)
