One of the things that amuses me most about this game is if you get injured, your health goes down... but your health meter and your hunger meter are the same thing - so if you literally get hit by a meteor, it won't kill you, it'll just make you hungry.
Jack playing Subnautica is my go-to comfort playlist. Some people watch The Office on repeat....I watch Subnautica. BUT if he puts another 10 hours into this one, I could easily end up with another comfort playlist.
See, I don't get that, RE-watching someone play a game over and over. Once, maybe a second time years later (and it often doesn't hold up). - But yea... You do youbadeedoo.
@@michaelmonstar4276its really just the same as ppl having comfort movies, tv shows, comedy videos, books. sometimes you just want a video that you KNOW is entertaining to you, and that provides you that cozy feeling of happiness again, and a new giddiness of seeing the things happen again from a new perspective. i dont fully understand why comfort media is a thing, but i have SO many different kinds, and it's kinda great lol
oh jack you've gotta keep playing this! it takes a while and it's a bit of a grind (you can afk) but you get to actively see the world slowly transform (grass grow, water form). super worth it imo!
JACK PLEASE COME BACK ITS BEEN TWO WEEKS I LOVE THIS SERIES ALREADY AND IT JUST STARTED I come back everyday to check for that upload even though I got them notifications on
@@thatoneleaf9895He's here because this is a one off video for a game he's probably never seen before played by a creator he likes. Have you had any oxygen recently?
Please, I'm BEGGING YOU Jack! I started playing this game too and you have only scratched the SURFACE with this first video. It's INSANE how much more there is. You're gonna LOVE this and I'd LOVE to see you play it to the end like Subnautica
@@PureRushXevus if i remember correctly he mentioned on twitter he's been having chronic pain issues in his wrists (i think) from nerve damage as a kid so he's likely just taking it slow on gaming in general at the moment
I agree. I've put in 30 hrs or so this week and am amazed how beautiful this game becomes and how much there is to do. Really hoping he keeps this series going.
PLEASE play through this whole game Jack, it's actually got a really beautiful story and the gameplay loop is extremely satisfying. Planet Crafter has the best experience I've ever had for actually being able to see my progression and how it changed everything around me as I went along. Amazing game
Little tip for the future Jack: you don’t have to put everything in/next to/on your base. The power sources power everything on the planet, and the heater and vegetube are generating heat and oxygen for the entire planet, not just your base
@@twilightmarichat1854 Pretty sure its intentional. If we have to means to terraform a planet, vaporize and fabricate things, i think wireless energy isn't a foreign concept.
Keep playing, there's Tons more left to the game! The log in screen will also show you the state you've terraformed the planet. Right now it's all brown and rock, but changes so much as you play
@@magnushandberg6652bruh moment 🤣🤣 but tbf I’ve done that more times than I’d like to admit. Like “where the fuck is the thing I need to find or do to progress?” *1 excruciating hour later* “It was so FUCKING obvious!! Why didn’t I fucking see it??!!” 🤣🤣🤣
Could you please continue to play this for us? My wife and I picked up this game just last Saturday and have put 60 hours in to it already, we became so addicted to it because her favorite game is Subnautica. We both got the notification that you played it at the same time and called each other immediately.
Jack the best advice anyone can give you for this game is that the power generation equipment can be built ANYWHERE on the planet and you still get the power. I have all mine about a 2 minute walk away from my main base. The same goes for all the atmosphere generating equipment, build it wherever you want to, some of the things can be outside instead of inside too. I hope you love this game too it really gets interesting very quickly after you get a stage or two in!
Personally, I'd say The best advice in the beginning is that you can create living containers anywhere so that you always have the ability to refill your oxygen. This allows for cross map traversal from the start.
Jack, those units you're struggling with are: PicoKelvin, NanoKelvin, MicroKelvin, MilliKelvin, and finally Kelvin; Parts Per Quadrillion, Trillion, Billion, and finally Parts Per Million; Micro Pascals, Milli Pascals, Pascals, and lastly Kilo Pascals; The Terraforming Index units are made up and just follow the Metric naming convention of Kilo, Mega, Giga, etc. Hope that helps!
i've seen it for quite some time now but Sean's editor is an absolute masterclass at their job; the small webcam movements to ensure all pertinent data is able to be seen and the audience isn't left with a sense of "wait, what was that?" due to that effort? -chef kiss- you're a real one. thanks for all that hard work!
I'm fiending, please continue this series. Most of the other playthroughs are from folks who are making guides and played in EA and know everything. Love the first time experience.
Please let Jack see this if you can! The accessibility key is defaulted to ctrl and will let you mass build/create items as long as you have the resources to do so! You can rebind it in the game controls. The rule of 3-2-1. Carry 3 iron, 2 titanium, and 1 silicon at all times early game. Wanna go explore and running low on oxygen? Craft a quick pod and door, pop in to refill your oxygen and then deconstruct to keep going! :) Hope this helps anyone else new to the game as well. I loved Subnautica and I love this one to bits as well. Also, Jack if you do see this, I’m super stoked for the Elden Ring one video and the Let’s Play for the DLC! I found you when I started my subnautica experience and so I really think you’ll like this game.
Sean, PLEASE play this one through the end! I've seen it be played before, but no one has gone past the point you're at! I would LOVE to see you play through the whole thing. This would be my new comfort series, for sure.

This was such a whirlwind of emotions to watch. When Jack was playing Subnautica, I was a new mom figuring out how to take care of a baby. It was stressful. But every day I had a jack video to watch during at least one nursing time. It really got me through those first few chaotic months. ❤ Jack, baby snuggles, and the snacks my lovely husband brought me. Now it’s 9 years later and that same baby is in third grade, thriving in school, talking about wanting to be a TH-camr. 😂
Too bad it's nord. As a few years ago, they got a breach, and didn't tell anyone for 10 months until forced to. Jayztwocents for instance dropped their sponsorship because of that.
Helpful tips: 1) For oxygen, heat, and pressure they use real world units like ppm (parts per million, and the "m" can be "b" for billion, "t" for trillion, etc.). Heat is in Kelvin ("p" is picokelvin, also nano, micro, and millikelvin), and pressure is in Pa (Pascals, again with pico, nano, micro, and millipascal measurements). Every 1,000 of one unit kicks it up to the next level; so 1,000 mPa becomes 1 Pa. 2) "Ti" is "Terraformation Index" which is basically just a combined measurement of all the other things like oxygen, heat, and pressure. 3) Power sources like windmills and solar panels generate power everywhere. It's one shared power grid, not seperate for each base. Everything wirelessly draws power from anywhere on the planet. 4) Special resources are found in special biomes (like subnautica) so if you're looking for iridium, aluminum, or anything else and not seeing it, you need to explore new areas until you find it.
Why is this not the top comment? This is the most helpful thing in this entire section and doesn't include a single spoiler. Why do we only have 49 likes?
It's weird to me that they went with Kelvin. Surely BTU's would have made more sense. I mean, you fully terraform the planet and you've increased the temperature by 1 Kelvin? That's just so silly. According to that it's almost exactly the same temperature at the end as it is at the beginning. Units of Kelvin are the exact same size as units of Celsius. So this is like if you or I saw that it was 7 degrees outside and decided that that was suicide to go out in, then it went up to 8 degrees and we're like, "Ah, paradise."
@@anthonybowman3423 Yeah, a lot of the measurements are super confusing. Pressure is a bit low on the scale, too. My planet currently has 5x the amount of oxygen as earth, but 1/100th of the atmospheric pressure, and somehow it's "perfectly breathable" But the heat is just super wrong whether you read it as total temperature or amount increased
please make more planet crafter vids i love this game also, some tips: build your base on stairs, start exploring early, you can put anything anywhere and it works
Hey Jack, just wanted to say that I have played this game before and you would not believe how many hours I spent on it (most of the time I was just sleeping darning playing and letting it run all night) But here are a few things you need to know. First the map is giant and I mean it, each area on the map has regular ores you find at the start but also you can find more things you think are rare at the start of the game, there are loads of stuff in them with mainly one ore, you can also find aluminum near crash sites(you missed two on the ground at both ship crashes) There are hidden golden chest/boxes placed in places you won't think something would be, they have golden statues and op plants you can use instead of those other plants, also each plant gives you a boost, the starter one you find is equal to bad, the golden plant however has a GIANT boost. The uranima comes in handy with energy later on as you saw with the uranium power generator, also that "colosseum" rock place near the second ship you found is a maze and is better if you have a jetpack and the agility boots, It also does has stuff in the middle so don't worry about that. There are secrets you will find and others you will be pointed to, also if you saw down in the bottom left corner, you find that there are coordinates that show you your location on the map, so keep that in mind. Also the blue sky is not the last thing you need to do, you will get to the point that you see plants growing around the world and also water filling up in that place you built in (Best thing to do is move to the rocks leaning against each other or past that) You will also find life like fish and insects coming into your world from out of nowhere, which I will love to see your reaction to seeing those in your future part 2 or 3 of this. The blue sky comes first, then rain, then plants, and so forth, you have NOT seen the last of this game, I can tell you that much, you are not even 1/20 of the way done so hope you enjoy the game and hope to see your next video of this. (I know there is a possibility you won't see this comment but I am still happy to help you out, I have watched your videos for years and have loved them for so long so hope I can help with this info) SILLYCOOOOOOOOON!!!!
@@michaelmonstar4276 They are fine if you put the brightness down, use a few glitches here and there that I found while playing and using low details, makes it so much easier to play and I adjust pretty easily so I am all good XD
@@michaelmonstar4276 The thing about the saturation, is to make it seem "Dusty" and "Barren" It will become more and more clear and less saturated the more the ecology changes
Just listening to some of Sean's assumptions about the game just has me sitting here chuckling and shaking my head going "Oh, you sweet summer child." I hope he keeps up with this game. There's a LOT more to discover beyond what was just in this video. Whether he does more of it on the channel or not, I hope he keeps enjoying it. Because this is only just scratching the surface.
same having played it for some time now some of it is making me giggle.. especially when building the first home...cause i assume most people built it in the same place and in my head i'm just thinking..good god you will hate having to move all this i am sure.
I've been playing this since the early demos and I have a bunch of tips for you! Some of these could be considered minor spoilers but only for the early game. Base building tips: - Move your base. No spoilers, but you don't want to stay at the bottom of that basin. - If you go east until the ground levels out, anywhere at that elevation or higher is a good choice for building (the temporary base you built near that wreck is at the right elevation). - I always build my base just past the big slab of rock leaning against a rock pillar that looks like |\ personally. - Give yourself a LOT of room to expand. Bases can get massive! - There's no range on power, so you can build things as close or as far away from power sources as you want. - Solar panels work at night. - Deconstructing gives back all materials used. - You can name storage boxes and lockers. Other tips: - Meteors will do damage if they hit you, but they won't damage your base. - Meteors spawn resources. - There's different types of meteor showers. You'll know when you get a special one. - Keep an eye on your environment. There are some gradual visual changes as you continue to terraform. - The map is a lot bigger than you think it is! - The progress screen shows the % to your next terraforming stage, not the whole game. Resource gathering tips (skip if you want to explore and find them yourself! I'm only including the ones you need at the start): - Aluminium spawns to the right of that second wreck you found (if you're facing it from direction of your drop pod) - Iridium spawns to the left of the second wreck. Look for the falling sand. - Aluminium also spawns just past the second wreck, but it's a maze so watch your resources. - Your best bet for Uranium early game is by finding it in storage boxes.
There were so many spoilers in that. Why can't people just let others play a game and find things out themselves. Why did you even mention the other meteors? My group was so excited when we got them and it's much much further into the game than Jack is.
@@bluebirdoz9055it's not always that far in game It's a percentage chance to get them and he didn't spoil anything about how the look and what they drop he just said there's different types
same! I started playing way before and I've never seen the intro for example, the game was much more barebones back then, so it's great to see the new stuff now!
pK and nK stand for Picokelvin and Nanokelvin respectively. 0 Kelvin being absolute zero, or -273.15 Celcius, (-459.67 F), and 1 Kelvin being -272.15 C (-457.87 F) 1 picokelvin is equal to 0.001 nanokelvin, 1 nanokelvin is equal to 0.001 microkelvin (μK), and 1 microkelvin is 0.001 millikelvin, or mK. From there I think it goes to cK and then dK, Centi and Deci respectively before finally hitting Kelvin. Which really puts into perspective just how freaking cold it is on that planet 😂
@@SharkSnoot The game itself uses 'nK'. That might be more the game's mistake if that is what they were going for. Unless you're trying to state something else with this?
@@RiownerTias oh, I didn't realize the game had the error. I was going thru comments with the video on and saw your comment and thought you mistyped since you properly had the myu symbol further down. Had just wanted to let you know in case it was a typo
@@SharkSnootno I think it’s the OP’s comment - pico is 10^-12 and nano is 10^-9, they mistakenly put micro instead of nano - they also correct their mistake by saying 1 pK is 0.001 nano Kelvin later in their comment, just a typo I’m guessing
Sil-i-CON is the mineral. Sil-i-CONE is a synthetic polymer made from primarily silicon as a base. Love this playthrough Sean. Looking forward to more.
Oh man i am SO HAPPY you're playing this game, jack. The dev team (TWo people) deserve so much success and this game is honestly an excellent one that needs more recognition!
Hey Sean, Chemical Engineer here (or studying to be one at least) here is a rundown of your units for the game ppq= parts per quadrillion (you got this correct) pK = pico-Kelvin a unit of temperature that is relatively similar to Celsius (just add 273 degrees) nPa= nanoPascals a unit of pressure that is EXTREMELY SMALL, like a trillion times smaller than the pressure on earth Ti= Terraformation index, it’s how much you have effected the planet Degrees of magnitude (in order of size) Nano: n 1/1000000000 Micro: u 1/1000000 Mili: m 1/1000 Centi: 1/100 Deca: d 10 Kilo: 1000 Mega: M 1000000 Giga: G 1000000000 Anything fallowed by a /s means per second, same with /m being per minute, /hr for hour, so on and so forth Can’t wait to see the rest of the series😊
I think part of what makes the loop in subnautica work so much better is that it very quickly makes moving around to get the things you need much easier... upgraded flippers almost instantly, upgraded O2 quickly, seaglide, seamoth, etc. The progression doesn't feel like a hinderance just to create a longer game. Everything leads to something else in a very logical way even if you don't know what's coming next, and it presents you with hints and clues as to what you're supposed to be doing constantly. Eg. radio signals, the aurora danger notifications, etc.
Alright, Jack. I'm a somewhat experienced player for the beginning of Planet Crafter, so here are my tips to start off: 1: Don't build anything permanent in the ditch you started in. Later in the game, if you stay there, you will lose almost everything. Not going to go further than that. 2: You can build terraforming structures and power sources anywhere you want, without having to worry about something being too far, other than the long trip there. 3: Try to be self-sustainable as soon as possible, as you will soon run out of space food kinda quickly. Not at the beginning, but best to try and get food growers so you can survive, although they take a LOT of energy. Also, space food gives the least amount of health back than other food. 4: Stock up on ice. As the game progresses, ice will be more and more rare, and soon, all ice will disappear. So until you can gather straight up water, stock up on ice. 5: Have an organized storage. You gather a ton of materials quite fast, and you can easily lose track of what you do and don't have. It also doesn't help that materials can't stack. 6: ALWAYS cash in blueprints. Blueprints from microchips are crucial to progressing smoothly. Without some of the blueprints, there are HUGE gaps in progression. 7: Explore. There are different areas in Planet crafter, with some areas dedicated to a specific material. Some focus on iridium, while others focus on aluminum, etc. etc. 8: Search for golden crates. You already encountered the regular crates, which have some materials in them already. But hidden around the map, there are rare golden crates that have two guaranteed items, plus some randomized rare materials. One of the guaranteed item in golden crates is the golden seed, which has O2 structures progress at 600% the normal rate. Those are my main tips, and if you follow them, they will help out a TON in the early game.
I would add to deconstruct any crate u come across and empty. Even if u dont want the iron from the crate itself just removing it from the world makes sure u wont run into boxes u have already looted. There are ways to kinda cheat the O2 but in the beginning having a few O2 bottles when doing a longer run is a neat trick. The ice part is irrelevant becouse u will unlock water collecters before the ice melts away.
Dammit I was starting to think the place I started wasn't the move for building. I'm not too big into it yet so I'm going to try and start moving. Good tips!
As someone who has 100+ hours in the game, I highly recommend continuing it as there are so many things to discover! It was a game that I bought in early access, something that I usually don't do, and I am happy to see it go into release. In fact, I am starting a brand new game for the release!
Same here. Glad they didn't wipe old saves like some games like to. I may have to move my bases though. There be several tree infestations XD. I don't usually play hardcore playthroughs, but I recommend it as it makes it more about survival than just exploring and terraforming. There are some parts that spook me (previous Crafters is all I will say) but there are a lack of threats. Hardcore doesn't let me fall asleep on my keyboard when I've been playing too many hours at risk of losing the save. XD
Hey Jack! So I’ve been playing this game since launch with some of my friends and we are at like 28.17 GTi. Even tho it’s sounds like so much, we still have barely touched the game. It’s a HUGE game with a really interesting story. Def play this more! Here are some tips for the game without giving too much away: Power can be placed nearly everywhere and be used across the entire planet, anything can be put anywhere for the most part (like solar panels on the ground or whatever), asteroids will drop iridium and other further game materials as you progress. Other than that, subnautica instincts should kick in.
i think what makes subnautica and this game better than other survival games is the massively lessened grind. instead of standing in front of a single resource node and just mining it for tons of the same thing, you get to explore and search for much smaller amounts of items in more interesting locations, PLUS the elimination of poor placement penalties (ie losing resources when you un-craft something) makes base building fun instead of stressful.
That is the best intro of all intros, it makes you hyped and energised but it also has a prominent hint of nostalgia. You have my gratitude for all of those years, thank you.
Ive been playing planet crafter since it first released in Early Access. It's so cool seeing it released and so many people discovering and enjoying it. I've managed to convince some of my friends to play it multiplayer with me once we finish our current game. The interesting thing for me is that I have practically the entire map memorized due to playing it as the map got built and developed, which makes it fun watching other people get lost... You do eventually hit a point in the endgame where a lot of things become automated... but you will still be running around crafting things and exploring. Edit: Some QOL tips if you want to make a series out of this, or if you keep playing off screen, the CTRL key is your best friend. If you hold ctrl when you build you dont have to reopen the menu each time. Same for crafting, if you hold ctrl when you click to craft, the crafting menu will remain open. You can also use ctrl click to move multiple of the same item between storages. When you explore the map, it is useful to leave some chests unopened for the later game, as very few of the chests have pre-determined contents and are instead generated when you open them, with the contents being determined by your current stage of the game. If you haven't found any golden chests yet, there are around 24 of them scattered around the map with really good resources in them. Power is a global resource, so you can build your power generating devices anywhere on the map. They do not need to be "attached" to your base.
It’s crazy because when I last played it in early early access, it looked like a 2001 game with the animations and everything but it looks so good now, I might have to hop back on
@@thatoneleaf9895 Unfortunately, yes. Early game you are likely to get basic resources, seeds, etc. Later game, you'll start getting rocket engines, uranium/iridium rods, super alloy rods, osmium rods, different mutagens, etc.
I bought this game for my husband's birthday which was also it's first day on steam. It is still his favorite game and the dev team has put in SO MUCH from the launch. It will be well worth the playthrough to discover the story and find all the SECRETS. (We know how much you love those) Good luck and we look forward to watching!
I absolutely Adore this game, the way the progression literally changed the world around you. It's also MUCH bigger than what you saw Jack!! Also... Go check out that first ship you went to again and look around the top of the outside of the ship!!!
Man this game is really popping off. I've seen so many people start playing it! I started while it was still in early access. A few tips to you Jack: 1. Various "seeds" has various modifiers. The lirma seed has none while the shanga and pestera has. I don't recall the specifics but these modifiers are annotated as "150%" or "300%" on the item. That means they give a higher generation bonus. So rarer seeds = higher oxygen generation. The food seeds doesn't have that, however various food saturate better than others. Green beans almost fills up your hunger bar while mushroom only gives a little. However in the end you'd want to grow all foods because they're used in different recipes. Also gold versions are the best! They can only be found in rare golden chests or from secret recipes though. 2. Rare minerals are often found in caves. The large cave with the sand fall in front has iridium and osmium laying about. Iridium, Osmium, Zelotie, Super alloy and Uranium are primarily found in these sort of "ore caves". That said, most caves are blocked by ice that needs a certain heat threshold to be reached before they melt. 3. Aluminum can be found in some biomes laying about, but not all. However that weird biome you saw, that's where you can mine aluminum with a T1 Ore Extractor. Aluminum can occasionally arrive in meteors aswell. 4. As in Subnautica, resources gathered from the ground does not respawn. However meteors tend to bring resources with them. The meteors also scale with your TI (Terraforming Index). Early on it's base minerals but in the mid-game you get Osmium, Sulfur and Aluminum while in the end game you get Super Alloy and Pulsar Quartz. 5. The blueprint chips are super important! The things they unlock are not in the blueprint tree and some things they give is super good to have, such as a the recycler or trash can. (The trash can is good to have as T1 and T2 Ore Extractors generates stuff you may not want, but takes up space, grinding the extractor to a halt.) Mid to late game you can even get drones to move stuff for you! 6. There are aliens... but you need to do some exploring first. ;) 7. You should try to get a food grower as quick as possible. The space food only lasts so long, and there's a limited amount of chests around. The T1 is very slow, but it's better than starving. 8. A part of the wall surrounding your starting area can be deconstructed to reveal a secret. Oh and btw, there's an achievement for being hit by a meteor.
Tip 9 from another OG player of this could be moving further inland and out of the lowlands asap. Not gonna spoil for him but you'll have to move everything if you don't!
oh man may I just say i’ve been watching you for years now and Subnautica was easily one of my favorites, this brings back so much comfort, you bring so much comfort to peoples lives I hope you understand that. What you’ve done with your coffee brand is brilliant and i’m glad to see a genuine person like you still around making people smile and laugh 🎉 Thank you Sean
1:08:23 that dust fall has a cave behind with alot of iridium and alumunium, plus like 3 containers full of goods. Quick note: shiny silver poking out of the ground is aluminium, you passed it earlier.
Some Hints for Seán: - You passed near a cliff with dust falling off of it. There are iridium deposits near there. - Opposite that cliff, across the open area, is a creepy region with Aluminium. - Its helpful to build small bases everywhere. Different biomes may have different resources that you will need, a nearby base is handy for collection and storage. - you can build and connect base modules in 3 dimensions, of course. One upgrade is a bigger base room. - It's recommended to have your main base on high ground (think of what happens as liquid water starts forming...)
Yeah these arent hints this is just spoiling the fun of exploring this game with no knowledge :| Edit: It's like spoiling every area and what resources are in what area in Subnautica... it would make the game kinda boring to play once its spoiled also the building aspect should equally be as unspoiled as possible (basically dont hint at anything unless he is genuinely stuck or confused)
Jack not uploading as much makes me come back for a new video in what feels like the longest time, for so many years he’s always been a go to way to disconnect and unwind with a familiar face/ someone who’s always been there to find some positive energy. I miss the past and I miss him now as he slows uploads but I’d always prefer him doing something he truly thinks is best for himself and want to voice how much he’s been here for so so so long now I’m turning 22 and he’s always been my get home and grab a meal sit down and watch some jacksepticeye whether it be a 8 minute indie game or a play through sit down for 2 hours at night if not binging it. Omg Jack played Planet Crafter! I moved to Japan a couple months ago and I have been out of the loop of the internet. I remember when I played there weren't enough updates and I could only get so far, but I found that I explored the whole map and found so many secrets, even lore! I'm excited to watch this video. I finished the video and it was as exciting as I expected. Cant wait for Jack to discover all the various areas and find out you can build up to places that you shouldnt even be at lol
This is the perfect game to watch Jack play. And I want to shout out the editing on this episode as well - the fade transitions are nice and not jarring, and idk if the screen darkening when a new message or blueprint arrives is in-game or done after but it really helps to see what Jack is talking about when there's a lot happening on screen.
I’m not someone who likes commenting on social media for a lot of personal reasons but on the very very off chance this is seen I’ve spent a majority of my life sick, injured, or bed rotting which that’s not what I’m commenting to talk about but I know a few weeks ago you posted that video talking about not feeling missed when taking breaks or needed but for me genuinely from my absolute worst days you and your videos were there to make me laugh and smile I loved growing up watching you grow into the person you are and watch your creativity grow with you so I genuinely want to say your videos helped me through some of the hardest parts of my life and I just want to say thank you for all that you’ve done and all that you’ve accomplished I know the community that you’ve built is truly beyond proud of you and thankful for everything
If we're talking about "Subnautica but," types of games, there's also Forever Skies, which is basically subnautica but with a blimp instead of a submarine
Note that different items (plants and bugs which come later) have different stats like some plants will genarate more o2 than another plants. Also we dont have to place everything in/on your base lots of things have global range. Heaters and growers give the planet o2 and heat. Not your base. You have a space suit and a base you dont need heat and o2 ,but your tearaforming a planet in needs that o2 and heat to tearaform itself.
Jack! If you want two other Subnautica-esque games, I just tried one today called Forever Skies that's an airship survival game on a poluted earth, and there's also Volcanoids that's steampunk survival in a giant drill machine!
I hope you keep playing. There is soooooo much more to this than you have even begun to discover. I think once you get to where you start seeing the changes all your work does to the planet you will see it is far more in depth than your standard survival game.
I love how Jack points out how he says aluminum differently, but doesn't notice that he's saying silicon actually wrong (he's pronouncing it like silicone, which is an entirely separate material which you can make with silicon)
@@bigboom2438That's not how language works. Silicone =/= Silicon. They're two completely different things. This isn't an "Aluminum/Aluminium" situation (by technicality even those are both wrong, it's "Alumium" named by the guy that discovered it). He's saying a completely different (and wrong) thing
UNITS OF MEASUREMENT: ppq = parts per quadrillion (in this case how many oxygen molecules exist if you gathered up 1 quadrillion molecules of the atmosphere). pK = picokelvin (based off the Kelvin scale, where 0 degrees Kelvin is absolute zero, i.e. molecules are not moving at all). µPa = micropascal.

Jack, those units you're struggling with are:
PicoKelvin, NanoKelvin, MicroKelvin, MilliKelvin, and finally Kelvin;
Parts Per Quadrillion, Trillion, Billion, and finally Parts Per Million;
Micro Pascals, Milli Pascals, Pascals, and lastly Kilo Pascals;
The Terraforming Index units are made up and just follow the Metric naming convention of Kilo, Mega, Giga, etc.
Hope that helps!

Helpful tips:
1) For oxygen, heat, and pressure they use real world units like ppm (parts per million, and the "m" can be "b" for billion, "t" for trillion, etc.).
I have really lost my braincells because I genuinely thought, "Pedro Pascal is a measurement now?"
Get this man a medal

Hey Jack, just wanted to say that I have played this game before and you would not believe how many hours I spent on it (most of the time I was just sleeping darning playing and letting it run all night) But here are a few things you need to know.
First the map is giant and I mean it, each area on the map has regular ores you find at the start but also you can find more things you think are rare at the start of the game, there are loads of stuff in them with mainly one ore, you can also find aluminum near crash sites(you missed two on the ground at both ship crashes)
There are hidden golden chest/boxes placed in places you won't think something would be, they have golden statues and op plants you can use instead of those other plants, also each plant gives you a boost, the starter one you find is equal to bad, the golden plant however has a GIANT boost.
(I know there is a possibility you won't see this comment but I am still happy to help you out, I have watched your videos for years and have loved them for so long so hope I can help with this info)

You should play more of this!! so calming actually, and I love resource/base-building games... I've watched this video three or four times already!
I've been playing this since the early demos and I have a bunch of tips for you! Some of these could be considered minor spoilers but only for the early game.
Base building tips:
- Move your base.
Other tips:
- Meteors will do damage if they hit you, but they won't damage your base.
I'm only including the ones you need at the start):
- Aluminium spawns to the right of that second wreck you found (if you're facing it from direction of your drop pod)
- Iridium spawns to the left of the second wreck.

Ah, the good old days. When there was no intro and no tutorial and you had no idea what the heck was going on or what you were supposed to do.
pK and nK stand for Picokelvin and Nanokelvin respectively.
0 Kelvin being absolute zero, or -273.15 Celcius, (-459.67 F), and 1 Kelvin being -272.15 C (-457.87 F)
1 picokelvin is equal to 0.001 nanokelvin, 1 nanokelvin is equal to 0.001 microkelvin (μK), and 1 microkelvin is 0.001 millikelvin, or mK. From there I think it goes to cK and then dK, Centi and Deci respectively before finally hitting Kelvin.
Which really puts into perspective just how freaking cold it is on that planet 😂

Yo, it's clean bean boy

Alright, Jack. I'm a somewhat experienced player for the beginning of Planet Crafter, so here are my tips to start off:
1: Don't build anything permanent in the ditch you started in.
☝🤓
I would add to deconstruct any crate u come across and empty. Even if u dont want the iron from the crate itself just removing it from the world makes sure u wont run into boxes u have already looted. There are ways to kinda cheat the O2 but in the beginning having a few O2 bottles when doing a longer run is a neat trick. The ice part is irrelevant becouse u will unlock water collecters before the ice melts away.
Dammit I was starting to think the place I started wasn't the move for building. I'm not too big into it yet so I'm going to try and start moving. Good tips!
Please Jack. Just keep playing this. I love your videos and this game. And you playing this is just perfect
Hey Jack! So I’ve been playing this game since launch with some of my friends and we are at like 28.17 GTi. Even tho it’s sounds like so much, we still have barely touched the game. It’s a HUGE game with a really interesting story. Def play this more! Here are some tips for the game without giving too much away:
Power can be placed nearly everywhere and be used across the entire planet, anything can be put anywhere for the most part (like solar panels on the ground or whatever), asteroids will drop iridium and other further game materials as you progress. Other than that, subnautica instincts should kick in.
Is there an "end" to the game? Recently finished cyberpunk and before that outer wilds, need a new game to play
@@Kinzoku_jp there is an ending. In fact, there is a total of 3. Don’t spoil it for yourself tho!
Please let this become a series
Please continue this game to the end jack!!! People have been waiting 😢
He mentioned on his Twitter that he's dealing with nerve issues and pain so he's probably gonna take a bit to make more videos
i think what makes subnautica and this game better than other survival games is the massively lessened grind. instead of standing in front of a single resource node and just mining it for tons of the same thing, you get to explore and search for much smaller amounts of items in more interesting locations, PLUS the elimination of poor placement penalties (ie losing resources when you un-craft something) makes base building fun instead of stressful.
please make this a series sean! we love your long gameplays and we all loved subnautica! its like a blast from the past!
That is the best intro of all intros, it makes you hyped and energised but it also has a prominent hint of nostalgia.
You have my gratitude for all of those years, thank you.
Games like this are great fun. I like the progress, the building, the discovering. I'd watch more of this!
Wait so ur telling me I've been wasting a bunch of boxes by trying to explore the entire map before I get to more advanced stages 😭
Leave it to Jack to get distracted by cool stuff exploding and then die within the first 2 minutes of playing the game 😂😂😂 Absolutely love it!
To be fair, he got extremely unlucky with that asteroid landing right there and blocking the entrance
@@MixR700yeah that was such bad luck! 😂
A few tips to you Jack:
6. There are aliens... but you need to do some exploring first. ;)
What about the ligma seeds?...
Tip 9 from another OG player of this could be moving further inland and out of the lowlands asap. Not gonna spoil for him but you'll have to move everything if you don't!
This game is strangely addicting. So glad to see Sean playing it.
48:15 "I don't care about a ladder"
LIES! you were so proud of your collapsible ladder ages ago, I'll never forget
oh man may I just say i’ve been watching you for years now and Subnautica was easily one of my favorites, this brings back so much comfort, you bring so much comfort to peoples lives I hope you understand that.
Some Hints for Seán:
- You passed near a cliff with dust falling off of it.
Don’t spoil it for him. Let him find the game out on his own. That’s half the fun of the exploration.
Yeah these arent hints this is just spoiling the fun of exploring this game with no knowledge :|
Edit: It's like spoiling every area and what resources are in what area in Subnautica... it would make the game kinda boring to play once its spoiled
also the building aspect should equally be as unspoiled as possible (basically dont hint at anything unless he is genuinely stuck or confused)
The landing gave me flashbacks of “Detecting multiple leviathan class lifeforms in the region. Are you certain whatever your doing is worth it?”
Just nostalgic and reminiscing on it all and thinking of how grateful I am to have grown up with you and thank you for connecting with us all and being you and only you for all these years 😊
I hope you keep playing! Planet Crafter super helped me out of a depression funk because of the positivity of seeing things change with my work.
watching jack do survival games is always so relaxing for some reason, like sitting back and chilling with snacks or lunch and enjoying it
Every time I blink Jack's hair gets longer and healthier-looking, it's hilarious. Only a matter of time before that L'Oréal advert crops up 😂
Edit: I have not been disappointed by the amount of Dune references in this video
He is starting to look like moist critical to me
Looks like skinny silent bob
looking at how good gabs hair looks, i’m sure jack uses her shampoo bc it looks so healthy!,

I would absolutely love to see more of this. This game's been a joy so far
I played through this whole thing. It was a blast. Seeing the world change as you achieve different levels, unlocking new areas, and even the save selector for different games showing how far each save has come was just great.
Man, watching this makes me realise just how much I miss subnautica. We need more episodes of this, and more games like this in general
So go play it instead of watching videos.
Really hope he keeps playing this! it's super satisfying once the bigger terraformation goals start transforming the world!
i really hope you make this a series, you got me obsessed with the 1st and 2nd Subnautica and i loved watching you enjoy the game as much as i did. and now you have me obsessed with planet crafter i've been playing for hours on end and i hope to see you enjoy this game as much as i have its been a blast. hope youre doing well and dont forget to have fun :)
This gives me the same feeling as watching him play Subnautica for the first time, I feel so nostalgic! I'm thoroughly enjoying this please make it a series!!!
Love the fact that you brought back the old intro, Brings me back to the good old days, Much appreciated Jack.
Dear: Sean McLoughlin

Hell yeah!!! ❤

Definitely supporting a full series on this!!!
Genuinely please make this a series! I'll be buying and playing it myself but this has that exact same vibe as Subnautica
Ah finally..
A substitute for Subnautica.
@Tiger10002tactical nuke, incoming on your head!

HI GUYS IM GAY!!!!!!!
Please please make this a series. I can't keep rewatching this lol
I would watch the HELL out of this as a series.
Please make this a series. Im loving it so far
Hope this is an dedicated series that jack will regularly play! It has a lot of play-time to go into the game, so it could be a good lets-play series.
Jack saying silicone with the reverb is giving Jack Black vibes, you guys really are best friends
a series of this would be really nice
Anything that resembles Jack playing Subnautica brings back my childhood.
I really like the energy jack brings to play throughs… calming, engaging, entertaining, funny… you name it he checks the box. Love ya Sean!!
Jack! If you want two other Subnautica-esque games, I just tried one today called Forever Skies that's an airship survival game on a poluted earth, and there's also Volcanoids that's steampunk survival in a giant drill machine!
hope this becomes a series
I hope you keep playing. There is soooooo much more to this than you have even begun to discover. I think once you get to where you start seeing the changes all your work does to the planet you will see it is far more in depth than your standard survival game.
I love how Jack points out how he says aluminum differently, but doesn't notice that he's saying silicon actually wrong (he's pronouncing it like silicone, which is an entirely separate material which you can make with silicon)
my fiancé is a chemist. as we were watching this video together, every time sean said "silicone" he'd say "silicon". lol
That was bugging me too I'm thinking what you have is something hard not something soft
Potato Potata silicone silicon whatever works.
@@SaiakuNaSenshu ok you didn't have to say it like that
UNITS OF MEASUREMENT:
ppq = parts per quadrillion (in this case how many oxygen molecules exist if you gathered up 1 quadrillion molecules of the atmosphere).
pK = picokelvin (based off the Kelvin scale, where 0 degrees Kelvin is absolute zero, i.e. molecules are not moving at all).
µPa = micropascal.
This definitely needs more episodes, don’t give up on this banger of a video game
I really hope he plays this with either gab or with mark bob and wade
They still can! Or maybe the lads.
We need the videos with Mark, Bob, Wade, and Jack to come back!!! And ofc the Gabsepticeye (jack smolders?)
I literally just re watched pretty much the entire Subnautica series (been at home sick for three weeks) and then this is dropped!? Hell yeah!
