I've found some things in common with certain youtubers who were in college for similar things and now play similar games in similar manners...rather odd but interesting.
pro tip, turn the game speed up unless you're playing as Bernie. Default speed is insufferable. Also you can swing the magnet claw back and forth before dropping to increase gather radius. And jiggling the tentacle claw makes it spread out BEFORE you drop it and without the need for liquid

Magnet build has been nerfed into the ground. Strength and gold builds are still great. Better builds are possible once you unlock all the characters and their paws.

When something like that Brass Knuckle is sitting on the edge, you can just go knock it off before you grab anything. Also, why the heck wouldn't you go for the armor that gives you block every turn? You can stack that thing up to make yourself invincible.
Things on the left side of your claw/magnet have a high chance of not making it into the machine, so if you really want somethin to go in, position it on the right side maybe

There was an alpha version in July, after that there was an open beta so lots of us have played it and watched as it evolved. The actual release (still marked as early access on Steam) only came out yesterday. It's very similar to the final beta but has changed massively from the July game.

Magnet has been heavily nerfed from what I can tell, doesn't keep a strong latch very easily now!
