      @DD-co1zn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the only caveat is that it must be connected to a USB 'host', and not another USB 'device' like itself. Class compliant USB can only make a device to host connect, not device to device or host to host.
      Something to be aware of.

    • @tigeralexander

    • @DD-co1zn

      @@Dekalboy absolutely, yes. iPad is a USB host, the sp 404 mk2 is a USB device ... So they connect perfectly. I use my OP-1 and iPad like this all the time.
      Be warned though - as far as I understand it at this moment in time - if you want to power the MK2 by USB, you will need a USB C to USB C connection ...
      I don't know about current iPads, but with my 5 year old iPad I won't be able to do this. No big deal, especially since the mk2 can be battery powered.

    DECAP uses his SP 404 as the interface for his entire studio by routing everything to an external mixer into his SP. Pretty incredible power behind this thing if you take some time to set it all up

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree yeah. If I had a mixer I would get rid of my audio interface. The only thing I need it for now is routing mics into my computer to record my vids. Everything else I use the MK2 and go out the USB output into my laptop

    • @MSNGR415
      @MSNGR415 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve tried running my model 12 mixer sub outs into the sp with my main outs running to my monitors but have had no luck with the audio actually triggering the recording. Everything else works right into the sp (iPad,guitar,bass etc) but for some reason I can’t get any signal into the sp from my sub outs… even though the sub outs send audio to my other interface for streaming just fine. I wish I could run everything from my mixer out to my sp.
      Also is there a specific usb c cable to use for this example shown in the vid? Seems the stock Mac usb c cable doesn’t work.

    One clarification: I had go to Utility (Shift + Pad 13) > General > Scroll down to setting "USB In" > change to "MIX OUT" in order for playback to work on my computer. At one point I had changed it to USB IN to receive recording samples on my Nord keyboard then got worried when I wasn't experiencing the same plug & play you show here.
    Also, you can tell you're using a USB-C to USB type A 3.0 cable connection. I can confirm an old USB-C to USB type A 2.0 cable works just fine. Running WIndows 11 Pro I didn't need extra drivers to operate once installing the desktop client software from Roland to manage customizing samples from my laptop.

      > I can confirm an old USB-C to USB type B 2.0 cable works just fine
      Did you mean type A instead of type B? Because the SP-404 MkII takes USB C, and the other end is for the PC, and PCs don't usually have type B ports (which are for USB devices like printers, not USB hosts like PCs or Macs).
      Also, were you able to power the SP from your Windows 11 PC?

    • @7fold_design
      @7fold_design หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Hakucho64 Thanks for the catch! Yes I meant type A input on one end and type C on the end that plugs into the SP-404. I still just use batteries or the external power for the SP-404 and don't plan to use the computer for power supply. Even if it was possible (I haven't tested) I use my computer for other more intense tasks I prefer to avoid introducing extra load wherever possible.

      Hello
      I just got mk2 and I’ve tried this thing with one cable (usbC) and Ableton‘s external audio effect but audio level got quieter when resampling the audio signal from 404mk2 somehow.
      Did you guys find out how to do this correctly?

  • @KatzuOso

      Don't see why not. Say if you were a rapper you could just have full tracks on the pads and trigger them, then rap over the top. Thats just one example. I'm sure there are plenty of creative ways to use it live. I have seen people use it to trigger samples and FX over a live band as well

    I would love to use this with my Maschine MK3 in order to send audio between the SP 404 MK2 for sampling/resampling purposes. I saw a video of Blezz Beats who got this to work with the Standalone Maschine+
    He hooked the SP up via USB into the Maschine+ USB hub and selected the SP as an audio interface in the Maschines settings.
    So, my question ist could this bei done in a similar way when using the Maschine Software with the Maschine MK3 on a computer.
    Routing: SP' s USB to PC, then go to the preferences of Maschine Software and then choose the SP as my audio interface of choice. THX!

    So what exactly does one need to sample audio from an iPhone 11 (lighting out) to the SP404 MKii? Obviously it’s doesn’t have a USB-C port on the iPhone. People say: just get the camera kit. Ok, sure…. I go online and there is two camera kits. One ($29) has just a lighting to USB-A port, and the other has lighting to USB-A & USB-C. Would both work? Like can the ($29) CCK run a USB-A to the SP404MKii via USB-C and work? Or does it have to come out of the CCK ($39) USB-C to USB-C in on the MKii? Obviously in this video the audio is going from the MKii to the computer USB-C out to USB-A on the computer, but this is about sampling into the SP. Im a little confused and don’t wanna buy I unneeded adapters and cables. I wanna buy the ($29) camera kit and go out from that (USB-A to USB-C) to my SP404MKii.

    hi, i wanted to ask if you could possibily run the EXT SRC audio through input jack, into a computer, and back, while having another audio file play without any change. Like if I'm live and want to put an Ableton-only effect on my guitar, but keep the pad of my backing track alone, would I have to use another interface, or could I use this one? simply put, can it use USB-out separate from jack-out, and can it come back when live

    • @spvidz
