I also am leery of Temu. But if you think about it it’s pretty silly to be because so much of what we buy from anywhere is made in China.
Absolutely, we would be hard pressed to find almost anything here in Australia that isn't made in China.
My husband bought me some jellyrolls from Temu. It was crap……I hope this fabric is better.
It feels okay and it sewed up well. But any fabric can be used for to make this quilt.
Thank you for the”new to me” border method. I always end up with too much (or not enough) border to fit my quilts! This will make it so much easier to match the main body of the quilt to the borders and sew them together.
It does make a difference for me as far as the fabric goes only for the price. Yes, it is nice to be able to get quilt shop quality fabric,but…what if you can only afford TEMU or Amazon or Walmart? As for me, I want to sew and quilt, so why do I have to wait until I save up enough money to afford the quilt shop fabric when I can get Amazon or TEMO fabric now?
I’m making my quilt for myself (because I love to sew ) and not for a competition or to sell.
I will love it, no matter which fabric I use!
Thank you for your comment Nancy ☺️. I am happy to hear that you like this way of doing borders. I certainly agree with buying fabric at an affordable price range. Fabric here is now upwards of $25 per metre with most being in the $35-$40 price range. This makes quilting a rather expensive commitment for us when doing tutorials. We have stopped making prototypes and just going for it with our latest videos. This means we only need to buy one lot of fabric rather than two. So far it's working out okay. And we find that the less expensive fabrics are fine for what we do. Like you, our quilts are for family gifts and our own use, and not for competitions or to sell.
Love the new & easy way to do a border! I've seen other people working with Temu fabrics & I'm really curious to see how they hold up after quilting & washing. Thank you for the video!

Just starch, I've seen no difference from chain store fabrics.
I bought some Temu fabric, beautiful colours/ prints selection, but super thin. I haven't had the courage to use them yet due to their thinness. They don't look like they'll hold up to much.

Do you not prewash these fabrics before sewing?
I don't prewash my fabric before I use it, unless I think the colour may run, although that doesn't seem to happen much these days. Just my personal choice.
I have prewashed these, and the fabrics have shrunk. I would worry about spending all the effort and time in doing the quilt, and then finding that it had shrunk when washed.

I’m apologizing for my first comment a bit but it has nothung to do with making this quilt. I thunk it would be great in flannel, fleece or maybe even Minkie (sp??) for a wonderful cozy and warm quilt for cold days, or maybe for camping, etc. Adding the borders was a unique idea and sure does make it more than easy to get a long border. Thank you for a very nice quick quilt!!!

I will NEVER buy anything from Temu.
The fact that the fabric came from TEMU bothers more than anything else. I won’t buy anything!!! from this place and buying fabric makes me seeth! Getting cheap fabrics from Communist China (that’s TEMU) is more than wrong. I want to support my local and some online shops I trust - it’s called supporting your local shops! I apologize if I seem cranky, but keep in mind what and where you are purchasing.
That's fine Sandy 😊. This exact same fabric is also available on Amazon. I would love to support local but we don't have fabric manufacturers in OZ. Our fabric is imported and online shops also sell fabric made in China and the rest of Asia, so it's a bit hard for us to avoid that issue. But I fully understand where you are coming from.
@@alandacraft I don’t mean using just Australia manufacturers, but there are plenty of very good online places to buy fabrics ;wholesale) that don’t come from Communist China!
For us Ozzie's the cost of fabric ends up very expensive. $74. For layer cake Aussie supplier of Moda I also have to pay delivery fee. Sometimes if I purchase from Fat Qtr Shop I don't want to think what I end up paying when I factor exchange rate and delivery fee. I havnt bought from Temu. I have from Amazon, but once again expensive
