- RIP MARK HOLLIS ---- I AI upscaled the OG footage from TH-cam and did some post processing in hopes this performance looks and feels as close to the original - but more readable on HD sets.

No band deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame more than Talk Talk. NOBODY!
Amen to that!
I could be wrong but somehow I doubt Mark would give a shit. His criteria for making music is on a much higher level than a high school prom.
TOTO?
The greatest album from the greatest band ever out the UK. RIP Mark Hollis. Your band was clearly the best, even if them fashion trendy bands got so much attention . Your band was REAL great music! And I say this unapologetically!❤
You say the truth.
@KSt224 yes . Absolutely
You guys are drunk on band loyalty. They are a great band no doubt… but the best ever from the UK?? No. Come on… there’s plenty of high quality UK bands out there from the 80s era.
@@PJL7095is called an opinion. I think the best 80s band is The Smiths but I'm not really going to argue with anyone who says it's Talk Talk. 😊
This is what is good about youtube. I can go back to the 1980's and see Talk Talk again.
Talk Talk was sadly underrated, not by me. From the first song I heard by then, I was totally hooked. They sound as good live as their recorded works. Mark Hollis' voice is so unique. The band is a tight unit. Rest In Peace Mark Hollis.
Top Ten and Top 40 hits all over the world, certified Gold by the BPI for sales over 100,000 copies for only one of their singles, the list of artists who have praised the band as an influence is still long, that is what you call "sadly underrated"? Most bands never reach their status.
To me, they were brilliant on every single album from first to last. Each one tells a different story.
The 12 inch records were practically unobtanium in the deeper realms of music collection... That was how you knew that the true status of the music was next level.
Same for me brother 👍
My goodness Mark you were and still are AMAZING! This concert is INCREDIBLE! To have there and seen him and the band would have been 🔥. Mark you are missed, Rest In Paradise ❤❤
We'll never know what's it like to fell that energy and enjoy live in concert, and that really can hurt. Imagine being here, what an incredible experience .
One of the best Talk Talk live concerts ever!
No. This is one of the best live concerts ever - by anybody. It's magnificent.
@@anthonyk5515 Talk Talk in Montreux 11th July 1986 live is the best! Dortmund 2nd;)
I heard a live such a shame with solo acoustic guitar and it was better than this time
Yeah the Montreal concert is the one . This is amazing though too !!
Dortmund is way more energetic than the Montreux show!
Rest In Peace Mark Hollis, what a fantastic voice and brilliant songwriter you were. Excellent remastering job Bosh!

Wow, best sound of all of the concerts I've been listening too.
RIP Mark Hollis, what a voice! I have every album.
Has there every been a band that morphed from synth to atmospheric? RIP Mark and god bless to Lee and Paul. You were a force to be reckoned with
2024 and still love Talk talk❤
Absolutely gutted I never ever got to see them live.. truly one of best best bands of the 80’s !!Mark Hollis was so underrated RIP 🙏😢

i love to listen to "Mark Hollis" - Hollis´solo album... superb production... rest in peace Mark, used to listen to Talk Talk when i was a kid, "Life´s what you make it" is one of my all time favourites.... A little anecdote... bought an old DUAL receiver for 50 Euros a couple of years ago, hooked a pair of old Heco Ultra Slim B 170 which i also got for 50 bucks and my audiophile friend could not believe his ears when we listened to Hollis´"Colour of Spring" and "Watershed".... beautifully produced and reproduced.... i love his music. and my friend was shocked by the reproduction of his voice by this ultra budget vintage gear...
I love this band and totally love that drummer (Lee Harris). He's the most animated drummer I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
Such a great man, such a great band.
i always think that Talk Talk was at its peak around that time,
whole group is just enjoying performance ,
songs are all good, structure, words, music and melody's
yeah 1984 was a special time even in my life, its my life .....
Thanks for posting this remastered version of that show 🙂
Always a fine band, but the last three albums is where the real magic lies!
@@Owlstretchingtime78 I agree, those last albums were indeed magical, especially Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden (they were among the very first post-rock albums, before post-rock was even a thing).
The .O.rang ('O'rang) albums (Lee Harris and Paul Webb from Talk Talk) are really good experimental/post-rock albums and included some other famous names on those albums.
Mark Hollis solo album also had that great feel of the last TT albums.
@theworldaccordingto4555 Absolutely right! I also have the two O'rang albums, of which the first one is a percussive masterpiece. With Hollis's debut, there was almost more silence than sound, which was Mark's way of saying 'here's my last piece of work, i'm done'. When a guy places so much importance in stripping away, instead of adding on and loves the sound of wind and slow running water, we knew he'd given his all. I still miss him nonetheless!
One of my life's regrets - not seeing Talk Talk/Mark live. Shit what a loss. I come here monthly to hear these magnificent tunes and inevitably feel profound sadness for not ever being able to see them again.
They had a sophisticated sound that was not simple and had jazz elements in it. I really liked his unique voice and their sound. For some reason they were overlooked. I guess they weren’t flashy enough. I don’t care about that. Their music has held up and is still good.
RIP Mark Hollis Thanks for the music!
I think it was because other than It's My Life they didn't have major pop hits early on, and then the last three albums were just too ahead of their time. Pretty much every musician born around that time cites them as a major influence at this point.
Jackson, Prince. Bowie, Lemmy. Amy, Curt, Buddie, Freddie....
What a combo. Etwas auf das man sich freuen kann.
Grande Mark 🙏♥️
Touching my Soul!!
Mark had a such fabulous voice 😍 Love this band so much❤ Lucky audience 👍RIP Mark 😭

Talk Talk was a once in a lifetime band, Mark Hollis's voice unique in music. They had a very loyal following, very loyal if you go by the comments.
Mark was honored among his fellow musicians. A musician's musician. But we are all still following and listening. I for one miss hearing what could have been.
No words❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beyond the music
The hum running just below

I have been a fan of Talk Talk since the beginning.
I so regret that I've never seen you live Mark Hollis, you've such an incredible voice, a great way to make music, which will for always be unique. At the age of 12 I fell in love with Talk Talk and had the chance of going twice to their concerts. Absolutely memorable! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing gig, so perfectly remastered! ❤ RIP Mark Hollis 🖤
Bellissimo concerto! La voce di Mark meravigliosa!❤❤❤❤

Unica e sopra ogni tempo mortale. Love
Masterpiece!
RIP Mark Hollis we miss you
Amazing❤
I was a piano technician and I tuned that Yamaha electric piano they had at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach California, I was also trying to promote my own band at the time, but I feel this guy is my clone brother, because our musical trajectories intersected. What a frickin genius! He was even a year younger than me and he's gone, shit! Most of my former band members have passed as well, so kids, stay off of drugs. ( Not trying to imply anything except that the rock'n' roll lifestyle will eat you up, even if you give it your soul) Amen.Swami 😢
He died suddenly. He had been diagnosed with cancer a few years earlier. There were no drugs involved.

Grazie! Brividi infiniti
Agreed 👍💯
What a great band of musicians!
The UK's best band EVER!
Good sound, good voice, best band, best Man mark hollis,R.İ.P. WE MİSSED YOU,Already my geezer brother
What an amazing performance, Talk Talk were a force of nature live. I'll always prefer their first three albums over the last two and Hollis's solo album. You don't make music for yourself, you make music for the people! Can you imagine a live concert with the later music? Half the audience would be asleep by the third song...
I don't think that was the point. He wanted to shift how people consumed the music. That music ought as well be for the people. We aren't one person but many pieces of one. I think his ideas benefited the music and his exploration changed our thoughts on a lot of things. It's why he is so special.
This is absolutely stunning. Mark Hollis has been a constant in my life and his passing has meant limited footage apart from Montreux. You deserve a medal for this
Wonderful
Discovering this band in 2024 and wow, so sad he's gone on.. this was clearly an amazing group of guys.. insanely good music. Discovered via Gwen's version but hearing their original song kind of blew away any remakes (due respect tho to Gwens). The drummer... I am mesmerized. Awesome music, thanks for the post.
Cringe comment
Gwen destroyed it. She is not due respect for that abortion of a reimagining. Never should have been given permission to ruin it. There are kids telling me that Gwen Stefani wrote it and that Talk Talk is a cover version. People that don’t know their music history should really just shut up. Gen Z knows nothing about music, especially 80s music. Congratulations on recognizing this as the obviously superior version.
@@tonguepetals even cringier comment
@@tonguepetals .. Thankfully I'm far from GenZ (happy to admit I'm much older). Regarding Gwen, my ONLY gratitude was that I heard her song and looked at this title and discovered this band as I stated. You're too angry about the topic frankly, it was a bit like .. woah chill friend. Am not a Gwen "fan" in any way but also don't down people who have obviously made it in the industry. In general I'd rather be positive on social forums like this. Too many people out there are just angry and venting some steam.
@@tonguepetals I’ve been listening since I have a big heart on TH-cam
I suppose bands like Talk Talk are now commercially unviable. Soooooo much talent in the same stage. Man, that Paul Webb's fretless is the heart & soul of the band.
Fantástica música voz genial siempre estará entre nosotros❤
Una d mis tantas bandas favoritas, tenía 12 años por akel entonces, ke joder tío! Mark, dios te bendiga!!

Used to love this band, he had such an interesting voice. Underated band at the time. Loved this video. I liked music from the 80's.
...wow! And that crowd! Not a mobile phone in sight. If this doesn't convince you that they ruin live performance these days, I don't know what will. All those people living in the moment. Timeless.
Maybe cell phones weren't around back then! :)

Good times 🙃👍
saw this live on german tv, when with school on a weekend in Holland vacation house park, legendary, also with U2, simple minds I thought, great to see this again, big good memories, the 80s music is so great, better than todays music, however I like various genres, when it sounds good, lyrics good, then I'm feeling great
