I once saw these in a nightclub in my local town in yorkshire england. There was only about 50 people in the crowd. He said if he had whiskey the gig would go better so i got him a glass. Great gig.
I actually just found out that this song was much much bigger in Europe than in America. Here it didn’t really get popular until the movie Loser came out and even then that wasn’t a huge movie at the time. So it kind of makes sense that you have such a connection with the song, given that it was everywhere in Europe and Australia and such.
8:33 that was definitely the lead singer who sang the high note in 'bag' that you described, not one of the female vocalists. You can tell if you watch him around 8:44.
Music is such a great leveller! One minute you’re happy, next you’re crying. It amazes me how it constantly messes with your emotions. I guess that’s why we remember these special tracks and forget those that don’t!
I was born 1987 and this is right smack my teenage years. No bias but it was the golden era of music. The fun the freedom the music the peace and the loooove
I mean, yes bias, but your experiences and nostalgia are valid. You were born in 1987, but imagine someone born in 1950, 15 years old in 1965... they would say what you just said. Oh and today? We have fucking AMAZING music today, and wayyyy more than in any period in the past. Maybe not the most popular songs, but go check out songs from some random country in the world. More musicians have access to education, instruments, recording studios and equipment, and sharing it around the whole world, like no other time in history. its freaking insane and awesome. People lost in the past claim their time was the best (its valid to be your personal favorite of course) but today we have all of the past music, and crazy new music never imagined in the past.
It made me feel exactly the same, and Im a grown man (if that matters). Some songs just have a power over me that no one else really gets. Some talented musicians just provoke something visceral. Especially live preformances, their just too beautiful for me or something. I know how ridiculous it sounds. Im just glad I am not alone. Not even embarrassed by it anymore lol.
I cry too omg Wtf?? I called my buddy and just started singing in the phone and he sang along without saying even hello..... "Her name is Noelle and Had a dream about her.....😢😅
I have heard lots of people saying that music takes them to other times of their lives, times where everything was better, simplier, I don't know how to say it, well whatever that means, it just doesn't apply to me, and don't misunderstand me, I love music, I love playing it, if anything, it transpots me to places that I have never been... I don't know what I am saying, music is too complex to describe with words...
Funny that you pointed out that high note in the chorus, even in the original, it’s only in the final chorus too… It’s basic, building the plot/energy and final chorus. That’s how you make a chorus worth remembering. Clearly it worked. Do your write lyrics?
Hey found you channel recently and thought you're very simpathic so I decided to stay. Love to see react videos. Can I suggest something? I believe it's a good idea cause it would come up with a bunch of progrock public in the future for sure. The band it's called Opeth and... Well I would like to sugest two songs in fact haha. First one If you would like to try something absolutely different from what you use to listen go to the music "Deliverance". The second one it's more like something that I think very hard to dislike and think you would love its "Hope leaves". Hope you read this comment would love to see a reaction by a suggestion of mine. Stay safe!
You know he wrote that song about satanic cult murders that happend in his home town. It was a teenage kid who killed his parents and some other people to. When the cops arrested him he was wearing an AC/DC tshirt. It sounds like a happy song, but the song about something dark. I guess the same could be said about "Pumped up Kicks".
So after listening to the vice documentary on this song, the satanic cult murder influenced the word ‘dirtbag’ and the “he brings a gun to a school” lyric. Seems like the rest of the song’s meaning is about his personal experience: wanting love, feeling like an outcast/loser, and sticking it to all the haters in his life like his high school teachers, priests, and any authority figure in his life that didn’t encourage him. Not really focusing heavily on the negative aspects, more like sprinkling it in the song
Hey V, i know you're really love 90's hip hop but do you by any chance listen to 90's Alt-rock such as Third Eye Blind, Vertical Horizon, Splender, The Smashing Pumpkins and there's a lot of 'em that i really like, especially Third Eye Blind, their debut album is really good, So if you have time to react to one of Third Eye Blind's song from their debut album such as "Semi Charmed Life" or "Jumper" or whichever song from them you really like, that would be awesome
I think it was Brendan himself who did the "Bag~" high note part not the girls. Brendan can still hit the high notes the same even after 20 years Voll krass :)
I get what you're saying about that ascending vocal. But, maybe you're just remembering the last bridge. It's really good. But, if they did it every time it wouldn't be as special.
I have never heard this song before. I will admit to you Now... I probably will not have heard 99.5% of the music you will be reacting to, from the 90's - 2019. "What? This is a beautiful throwback 🙂 Brings back memories because we were exactly teenagers during the release of the song/album... And Mena Suvari 😍
2:54 I understand, I cry for great music too. No matter what genre. I was holding back tears at the same time lol

I was recently honoured to have Brendan from Wheatus on my channel so I could interview him :) great video!!! Thanks for uploading. :D take care!!
8:33 that was definitely the lead singer who sang the high note in 'bag' that you described, not one of the female vocalists. You can tell if you watch him around 8:44.
yeah dude she has it all wrong. he only ever sings it after the falsetto section and it was always him.
^^^^
I'm glad you watched this live version. I was surprised on how good he still was more than 2 decades after the song got released.
Im going through a seperation after 14 yrs. I needed this so bad. Graduation yr. So many great memories. I cant stop crying.

My kid's band got to open for Wheatus in Ft.Wayne Indiana in 2022... Wheatus was as awesome as they were back in the day!
Awesome version. Still love this song. Will turn it up every time it's on the radio. :D
This version is awesome ❤ I really love your reaction
i like that it makes you cry. i have the same "problem" with this song ..... every damned time. and i'm 45 now
Yep ,remember this one, Loser soundtrack . Wow time flies, great throwback! Thank you!
God damn, you made me realise I’m never actually going go be a teen again or get them days back🥲I wish life would slow down sometimes
the way he sings “ it’s prom night and i’m lo and behold she’s walking over to me this must be fake “ makes me sad and nostalgic for some reason
That one is from the Bully documentary soundtrack on Netflix teenage dirtbag orchestra that’s a real tear jerker
Lovely video, and lovely singing and piano! So many memories, wow. ❤
I love that damn song. It's so cool to see someone feel it the same way. And yes, no longer teenagers, just dirtbags lol
This is such a great choice of song and I enjoyed your review
I'll take Happy Tears any day of the week : )
Just so awesume !! Love it and love your reaction
I loved that you loved it so much

I hate that I love this song so much every time I hear it I'm humming it for days
That is the longest bass guitar I've ever seen.
This reminds me of the early 2000s when I was listening to evanescence and pink and Avil Lavighn before I started listing to Iron Maiden lol
This didn’t look live.
It was done live. Like a live stream.
It most definitely does and also sounds live lol
are you dumb? straight up? slow?
What a beautiful woman jeez
Потрясающая песня и отличная реакция.
I heart stopped when the screen blacked out for a sec
That was awesome

People think this is some kind of throwaway song because the lyrics are (intentionally) cheesy however this is a really good song.
Do u know how I know we are old?? Those clothes in the original music video are cool again! We are OLD sista!❤
The percussionist is amazing!
Love. This song
Me too!!
This song has a 70% cry rate with me. Especially that bridge when he is worthy. You don’t have to be a dick.

Remember hearing this a lot when I was a kid
Us dirtbag all feel the vibes
I cant believe this girl is a 90s kid
Wow awesome!
This song is lightning in a bottle, as they say.
Surprised by your reaction you seem too young to have been aware of this song when it came out. Great song and reaction.
I was also looking to that she wasn't there that time
exactly, she's so overreacting, there's no way that she was aware of the song when it came out

Not true. He has publicly refuted this story
@rstocker19 Okay, well, you tell me what it's about then.

Oh my god!!!! You’re beautiful!!!! I love you
Why was skrillex so happy when he did the girl voice?
You are gorgeous!
For the record, the lead singer sang the bridge in falsetto because that's how it was on the record. The lead singer did all the vocals for the track.
Yah alot people are surprised it wasn't actually a girl they hired as back up
