Remote mounted filter puts it well away from the heat in the headers. Mount it on the outside of the frame rail so servicing is easier with no oil spilt on the headers.
I love your videos, Wally.I have been a fan since the beginning.I have a learning disability. The way you take your time and explains things along the way, helps me understand what you are doing. And it's greatly appreciated, you have no idea.
Well, you mentioned you were stuborn about those headers but remember, “quitters never win and winners never quit” This was an awesome video, keep them coming. MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Merry Christmas, Wally, and Mrs Wally! Exhaust lks good... glad you abandoned the idea of going around the back of the transmission! Fuel tans look awesome... tailr made for this application!
I used to drive a truck with an upright exhaust behind my head. The noise transmitted into the cabin has (I believe) contributed to my hearing loss. As a result, I strongly recommend that you put some sound insulation inside the cabin to reduce the possibility 😂the same thing happening to you & your passengers. Remember, happy wife, happy life.
G'day Wally, I think you've nailed it. The running of the exhaust pipe's looks good, and the positioning of the stacks are spot on. Your metal fabrication skills are awesome Wally. So thanks for sharing the progress, man. I appreciate it. To you and your family, have a wonderful, happy Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Those stacks look nice.Does the staff look nice on there?Honestly that nice follow us on the bottom of that hog lights from the bottom of that a nice radio that l a d lights headlights on there and you mirrors
I can relate to being so stubborn and have to make things work! But sometimes that’s what it takes to get the job done. I think the exhaust tips could go a bit higher and if you begin the guards at the top of your flatbed like you said at first it will put the tips about 6 inches higher than now and still fit under your roof. Great videos and many of us have been where you are and can appreciate the blood sweat and tears that go into these projects! You should be proud of what you are accomplishing not to mention providing enjoyment for everyone following this build. Great job!
I was screaming cut a slip on the bottom of each exhaust port of the headers and waaalaaaa you made the cut...😆👌👌 Its coming together nicely....Merry Christmas to you and all reading comments after watching this great content.
I like what I see so far, and really looking forward to hearing it. Your talents are definitely worth mentioning. 🤙 Merry Christmas to you and the family, and looking forward to your next videos.
Thanks. It’s interesting to watch you continue to have happy accidents; doing things you didn’t think you could pull off. 😉 Of course I’m watching Rory@TrailMater knock out Robby Layton’s rusty off-road wrecker masterpiece as well. With Shawn and Mike doing a fair amount on the build, progress is moving quickly.
Just as a matter of interest, I have Isuzu tanks on a couple of my trucks. Those larger tanks when full will have slightly more than 200ibs of fuel in each plus the weight of the tanks. I built a bushed RHS cross over support between each of the J brackets & used one of to hide the fuel cross over tube. (inside the RHS tube).......The fuel line can then be connected to the each of the 2 drain bungs in the bottom of the tanks, with a shut off ball valve in case a tank needs to be isolated. It also reduces the likely hood of the fuel line getting damaged if something large enough gets under the vehicle while underway. The RHS tube is 1'' with from memory a short length 7/8 round welded in each end to meet the clamps (motorcycle handlebar brackets) at the J bracket. I only run a hose of 1/2" bore for my crossover.
That looks awesome,I like how the pipes are run and the tanks ..great job..can’t wait to hear how it sounds… Merry Christmas, happy new years to you and your family…
Really like watching you work. I hope to do a similar project. Solving problems with what you have on hand is way better than just throwing your checkbook at it. I'll be going through flagstaff and kinsman on a out the 31st if you are in that part of state I'd love to see it in person. Merry Christmas
Great job on your COE. I look forward to your videos. Just one suggestion you might want to come up with some brackets to go between your steps on the cab and the frame! The steps flex a bit when you're standing in them
Exhaust Looks GREAT... Looking forward to hearing RUN... ( as far as noise ).. IN the cab ?? you'll be fine.. BEHIND the truck ??? Eh.. ( it'll be fine ).. Keep Workin Wally.. ( but take a break for Xmas ).. Merry Merry..
Great job Wally! I was disappointed that I didn’t get to hear it growl, but it was fun watching. Check out Rat Rods for Africa. He did stacks on his REO. You may get some inspiration for your cover brackets. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas sir I'm a new subscriber to your channel I like what you are doing but may I ask why you set the motor back so far ? I think had it been foward the way the truck was designed would have been better but just curious thsnk yiu merry Christmas

That means a lot, thanks for watching.
I would make some plates to go inside the cab wall to reinforce the thin wall sheet metal.
I made some
The exhaust height is perfect! The saddle tanks were a great addition too. Just the right size. I love this build!
Well, you mentioned you were stuborn about those headers but remember, “quitters never win and winners never quit”
This was an awesome video, keep them coming.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Merry Christmas, Wally, and Mrs Wally! Exhaust lks good... glad you abandoned the idea of going around the back of the transmission!

That rig is moving quite fast you keep up with this pace and you'll be driving it soon great job
You’re doing a great job Wally. I’m from Twin Falls, Idaho and I’ve watched your progress all along.
the way you connected those pipes looks great, I am really enjoying this build. Merry Christmas from Springfield Missouri
The exhaust pipes look the right height to me. Great work.😀

That’s my problem too. Drove Pete’s and Freightliners with side stacks. Mostly Deaf in my left ear now 😂
Looking good! The saddlemount tanks are a great fit. Have a great Christmas!
Excellent fabrication skills . Happy Holidays. ❤ from the UK .
put the cross over in so your O2 sensor can sample from both sides. Nice job

Great job Wally I have owned 6 different C.O.E trucks sometimes it requires making your own parts to make it happen. Thanks for the videos

It won't be long and it will be finished. Good job on your truck.

“Today is going to be exhausting” 😂 Not for us, Wally!!! Keep up the hard work!! We love it!
Looking good,Wally love it , love the look of the old truck as well. Are you going to paint it?
Not in the near future, truck is pretty rusty.
Hey Wally, Damn fine job on the exhaust stacks! Cut yourself some slack! It's RUSTIC CHARM!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Wally, its coming along nicely. Enjoy your break

Those header welds are nicer than anything I ever did
Well, I have to say that’s some good looking pipes. Nice job.
Thanks. It’s interesting to watch you continue to have happy accidents; doing things you didn’t think you could pull off. 😉
Of course I’m watching Rory@TrailMater knock out Robby Layton’s rusty off-road wrecker masterpiece as well. With Shawn and Mike doing a fair amount on the build, progress is moving quickly.
I need to catch up with that build.
Merry Christmas! Nice work!!

Nice work Wally!!!! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!🎄🎄🎄🥳🥳🥳
Heck yes Wally, the stacks look so Kool. The height is pretty much spot on. Merry Christmas brother.🫵🏼💯🆒
Great job... again ! Love your videos 👍👍👍
You can get a remote oil filter adapter. I ran mine to the outside of the frame on my ramp truck(similar setup). It works great
Notch around the exhaust will be sweet look too for the flatbed. Enjoy your holidays too bud
Yep...did the same thing with mine.
Though about it.
Merry Christmas , God Bless you fella....Thank you
Looking good so far!!!

I’m in Phoenix, have a safe trip.
@wallysworkin823 thanks. Looking forward to seeing the area
Hello Wally. Thanks for the early video. It's always good to see what progress you're going to do next. Have a merry Christmas and a great 2025!
Great job on your COE. I look forward to your videos. Just one suggestion you might want to come up with some brackets to go between your steps on the cab and the frame! The steps flex a bit when you're standing in them
Yeah, all of that is coming apart soon to be fixed.
I been your show I like the way it done
Wally, Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas Wally from Australia
Love your work, although I was cringing as you dented up the 180deg bend with the hammer 😂
Aced it. 🎉. Great job, as usual.
Exhaust Looks GREAT... Looking forward to hearing RUN... ( as far as noise ).. IN the cab ?? you'll be fine.. BEHIND the truck ??? Eh.. ( it'll be fine )..
Keep Workin Wally.. ( but take a break for Xmas ).. Merry Merry..
Great work Wally. Merry Christmas and New Year.
looks fantastic!!! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Norway 👍😎🇳🇴
You could always use flex pipe to connect . Its whats used on the big trucks ...
Merry xmas Wally.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎊
❤ The channel
Merry Christmas Wally
Great job Wally! I was disappointed that I didn’t get to hear it growl, but it was fun watching.
Check out Rat Rods for Africa. He did stacks on his REO. You may get some inspiration for your cover brackets.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 from Opp,Alabama!
Looks good! The fuel tanks really add to the look as well. Are you going to have a cross over to pull from both tanks at the same time?
fab job love your videos i watch al on this coe great man
merry Christmas if the exhaust transfers to the cab maybe some square rubber pads on the inside and out would help.
Merry Christmas everyone have a safe New Year
Wally if you don't need both fuel tanks you could turn one into storage for chain binders ETC
Thought about that.
Wally, on the headers, since you are going with stacks. Could you switch sides and have them go up vs. Down and give you more clearance?
I tried, didn’t work.
You spoke of a flat bed you should do a cheese bed ramp for the bed to load and carry other projects
Merry Christmas
That was exhausting! What material did you use for the exhaust piping? mild steel, aluminized, 409 stainless?
Mild steel.
Merry Christmas sir I'm a new subscriber to your channel I like what you are doing but may I ask why you set the motor back so far ? I think had it been foward the way the truck was designed would have been better but just curious thsnk yiu merry Christmas
I didn’t want a doghouse around my feet, my older videos explain.
that is some nice fab work 😃👌

High can get sound away from the cab but as you said don't want to be to tall.
Wally ,on gm big and sml blk i use a s10 v6 starter cheaper,1 /2 the weight and size 35 to 50 bucks used, they have 3 times the torque.i have a 550 horse big blk in an 87 crewcab dually auto ac been on truck 12 years now and was used at pick a part,98 blazer
Welding ends at 30:40
Looks awesome
The vibration of the pipes can crack the sheet metal.
was it not possible to put the left header on the right side and vice versa with the collector facing upward?
No, I tried.
🎄...great work....jose
Good job
This guy needs to own a Nutsert / Rivnut tool
Lookin Good!
Nice job I like it....
thank you
Where the exhaust loop just behind the transmission build a box so you can cook lunch on the way to the car shows.😊
real good merry xmas
I don’t know is the truck not gonna tilt to the side with that gas that you’re gonna put it?
Will they fit upside-down
Can you add a remote oil filter?
I can, probably will.
