My opinion on Maximus:
1. He is playing a young, like 22 year old selfish dude.
2. He has an overarching motivation to get revenge on the people who destroyed his home, while also finding a new home in his life, which is the brotherhood (at first)
3. After he meets Lucy, who saves him and give him her trust multiple times, he starts to fall in love with her and decides he actually doesn’t want/need the brotherhood anymore, but uses it as a tool.
4. He is pretty much a selfish liar who changes his mind every time it benefits him, but deep down he’s just a kid who is learning how to make choices.
Norm is my favorite character for a few reasons.
1) Norm MacDonald
2) He’s the smallest guy, but is also the bravest. He goes into Vault 32 without knowing what would happen. Twice. Then he goes into Vault 31 knowing there would most likely be some kind of opposition.
3) He’s a surprise. We were never really sure what he was going to do. He MIGHT have been the one to poison the raiders, or at least had something to do with it, and the fact that we don’t know for sure one way or another is a testament to the writers.
I like all 3 characters equally :) different perspectives

I imagine that Maximus has the Idiot Savant perk (with 1 intelligence)... It makes his character more enjoyable.
What bothered me more than anything was how they seem to have changed the lore around the ghouls with the chem that keeps them from turning feral, and also they seem to be immortal now for unknown reasons.
But listening to this review does put into perspective how awesome the show was, even if it's got a few flaws.
I saw that maximus theory and I agree that it makes him WAY more enjoyable! The ghoul lore doesn't feel super problematic to me (yet) because the chem that would stop them from going feral could just be some kind of healing compound (like a super stimpack or buffout) that they start to need once they begin the process of turning feral (which may be happening to more and more ghouls at the time of the show since it's the latest thing in the timeline). Have you heard the theory that Thaddeus was injected with the mysterious serum from fallout 4? I think the implication is that he's a type of ghoul, but that serum would explain the wolverine level healing factor
@@RivetingMaterial I guess the Thaddeus theory feels okay, if that's what they were going for.
But when Coop and Roger were talking about the vials, Roger says, "That's a lot of vials" talking about how old that Coop is... And then Coop followed that up with, "I've always been good at making money." Referencing how he could afford all the 200 years worth of vials to keep him from turning.
That conversation feels like a ret-con to me, and definitely not about something new... But something very old and well known. 🤷♀️
That's my two cents and it doesn't sit well with me, but I loved your video and I loved your perspective about how typically these things go VERY wrong ... Yet this is going really well so far. ❤️
@@RivetingMaterial I've seen people upset that Coop sewed a different finger on and it worked instantly... But that doesn't bother me at all, because of the dlc that has the lobotomites... I can't remember what it was called, but you're running around and fighting enemies without a brain, spine, and some other parts missing entirely... Then of course they just put you back together again later.
So, however silly that is ... Sewing on a finger seems less silly. 😂

@@RivetingMaterial With the Ghouls, I see going feral as dementia for regular people, not everyone gets it but those who do once the process of deterioration starts it can't be stopped. Cuz even irradiated; the human brain wasn't meant to remain active for hundreds of years. Maybe someone realized once they start going feral it can be delayed with this thing and decided to make caps out of it. But they made them addicted to it Idk or its effects weaken with time, and they need bigger doses. We'll see if that's explained. Also, am I the only one who would like to play as a ghoul instead of a vault dweller? Would be fun, I think.
The show is awesome. As a gamer, I love it. The grifters are all confused, watching each other, trying to figure out which hot take is safe.
But nothing is safe in The Wasteland.

Just so y'all know, no lore was broken by the show. In the games it has been shown ghouls can be created through chems (Hancock being the most famous), shady sands wasn't the capitol of the NCR by the time of it's "fall" which isn't necessarily the same time it was nuked, the NCR is much larger than just the Shady sands area which means they're likely still a major faction, chems for slowing ghouls slow march to being feral also mentioned in game (see some of the conversations with hancock and some of the ghouls who lived in diamon city before becoming a ghoul) and the overall feel of the show fits with the games style and feel. This is supposed to be a continuation of the games lore and as a fan since the 90's I'd say they did pretty well at this.
Some lore was actually broken. Not majorly but it was broken a bit. Like Enclave being in California still, the change of rules in the BOS, how the LA-Boneyard is empty and desolate, the NCR not having vehicles, etc.
@@corypowercat7277 keep in mind, we didn't see the bone yard in detail, only the results of what the power did to it (lit it up). The Enclave has been destroyed multiple times so I doubt they'll ever be fully deleted from any region. The BOS in the show is much more like the BOS from the first two games. And as far as vehicles, we are talking about an area that was recently nuked so it's plausible they've pulled back all their major assets to a "safe area."
None of this is lore breaking since it is either plausibly explained or existed in the games at one point or another.

Regarding the jetpack arms, according to a Fallout 76 player (not me), one of two blond-ish women commenting on the show, its actually a reference to Fallout 76 players glitching the game to mod power armor arms with jetpacks. Apparently enough to the point of "pissing off Todd Howard". So in HER mind, its a nod to Fallout 76 players. And not just any players, specific ones who "glitch duped" jetpacks onto power armor arms, and even had a "black market" on facebook marketplace for it lol.
That's a crazy theory. Pretty cool if it's true, although I would argue that it still looks pretty silly.

The Norm Subplot was so cool. I thought they would do nothing with Vaults once Lucy leaves it. I was surprised to see that they deloped it. Well at the End of Season One it Ends in Utter Trash. Man Maximus was Just Stupid. No Clear Desire and Goal. Storywriting Fail.
