    Your videos are honestly the most helpful of all that I’ve found on TH-cam for Etsy. I’ve applied all of your tips and have consistently made over $4k each month in just a short time. Hoping for an awesome 4th quarter next! Thank you!

      That is awesome 4K a month is a blessing! If you don’t mind me asking was your first months slow ? What is the best tip you applied that helped you the most? I’m 4months in with 61 sales and I don’t know what to do 🥲

      @@idyllic6417 my first month (mid March - mid April) I made $202. My second month I made $1632.36. And it only went up from there. This past month I made $4500. Last month was $4400. I only started in mid March so I’m happy with that so far because it appears possible and it’s progressing each month. Over the past few months, I honestly just watched all of Cassiy’s videos and applied as much as I possibly could. I didn’t do anything different than what she said and I don’t really use social media to promote my shop. Yet 🤫😬. Everyday I try to make and add shirts. Some days it’s only one or two. Some days more. I think getting the SEO and mock-ups right has been probably the biggest changes. My older shirts don’t sell as well as my newer shirts. I think it was definitely a combination of being new and not knowing how the heck to do it (both designing anything and figuring out the seo for it) and not having good enough SEO. I’m still new and learning obviously but seeing the results and knowing I’m getting better the more I do it is motivating. It gives me hope that I can get to the point where I can also support my small family someday too. I’d say a handful of my hundreds of shirts actually sell though lol The more you add, the the more chances you have at getting a sale. And the more you add, the better you’ll get at it. At least I think so 😅😬. Good luck to you! ❤️

      It can be very slow in the beginning because there are many things you may need to improve on, try different ways etc. Just try to think of yourself as a scientist, you need to keep trying different combinations until you find just the right chemical combination to create sales! Just keep trying different design styles, researching what is selling now and getting more listings up in your store! Some people make sales off of the first 10 designs they list, others it could take 100's of designs to get listed. Everyone is on their own journey and needs to find their own way.

    Hey Cassiy! Great information as always! Have you done a workflow video? I would love to see that. As well as a clear explanation of what current balance v payment account means. I have read several explanations and am still.. 🤔🤔🤔 Thank You :))

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not yet done any videos on workflow but I found an explanation that I think explains the current valance v payment account well
      "Your Etsy account reads just like a bank statement, money in and money out in the one account, with a running balance. Just like your bank statement, you see two balances, the Current balance and the Available balance. Current balance is the total funds in the account, Available Balance is only the portion of those funds that you can currently access. Think of your sales income like a check deposit, it shows in the Current balance, but until the check clears, you do not have access to these funds yet, so they do not show in the Available balance. When your shop is new, any funds from sales take 3 days to become available for you to access, and this remains the case until 90 days from your first sale. After that, funds become available the day after the sale. Any fees accrued from sales and service charges are debited to the account and affect both balances."

    @skfhdsjknldgfv ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Cassiy - I don't like being a negative nancy but I can't get any sales on my Halloween shirts. You reviewed my shop early summer before I had any Halloween designs. You said my mockups and designs were great but I could work on my SEO. I've continued to follow your advice on taking aspects of bestsellers and making it your own. But no matter what I do, I never get seen. I can tell by looking at the stats on my listings and seeing things like 1 view. It's very discouraging because I am truly following every tip you've given in your videos (using titles from other bestsellers, using sales samarui tool), and want some of these Halloween sales. I see shops with similar designs who have multiple listings with 20 in the cart and I know that if I just showed up in search, people would buy my stuff too.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Shannon! It's hard to say what the issue might be. It could be that you are only making generic designs. It's a lot harder to get sales on things that say "Happy Halloween" for example. I'd spend more time finding the sub niches of Halloween so that you are in search results with less items. Things like "Trick or Teach" teacher Halloween shirts sell better. It's a little late now for Halloween but for Christmas, I'd recommend mixing Christmas with as many other things as you can. Avoid "Merry Christmas" "Merry and Bright" etc, and look everyday for new best sellers in random niches. Like Chickens + Christmas, Aliens + Christmas, seriously these random sub niches is where I make most of my money.
      It's also a numbers game, I have listed thousands of things that have never sold. You just have to keep listing new things in new niches with new design styles until you find what works best for you!

    Thanks for the video, Cassiy! Is it possible a bestseller’s SEO isn’t playing such a heavy factor in how well the item is selling?
    Perhaps they have a large email list, a large social media following, or a large loyal customer base of repeat buyers directly searching their shop and buying. Another factor could be that their customer experience score and total number of sales and positive reviews could be enough to rank them high without much SEO research on their part.
    Is it possible that the SEO they’re using may not be the best, and that SEO may not be the best choice for a less-establish shop and someone just starting out? I often wonder if it’s more complicated than simply using the same SEO as a bestseller 😂 Perhaps I’m just overthinking it all! 😅🤣

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is exactly why I said to use a combination of the top 4-5 best sellers! Then you aren't relying on any outside factors

    • @sharonmareethoms
      @sharonmareethoms ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think so really.
      They get rewarded if they are in any of those situations that you just mentioned, but so does the new listing seller.
      They get a boost for a new listing. If cheaper a boost, if posting consistently a boost, free shipping etc.
      I think taking Cassiys advice and starting with the main keyword 1st place in the title and description is a given.
      It's next most important to think about your item and how you'd find it to buy your self online and the words you'd use to try and get to it.
      Next i'd go through the top listings wording and take any that make 100% sense in regard to my product. Lastly I'd use Google Keyword tool and search from my main keyword and filter results from highest monthly searches to lowest. I'd use those words to fill the rest of my tag spots or replace words that I feel don't really hit the mark.

  • @reby1583
    @reby1583 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This sounds so similar to what i'm doing but I'm not getting found with 160+ listings

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are other factors that could be the issue besides just the SEO. You need to look at your competition of items that are selling well and be honest if your design/mockups are actually competitive enough. I know my first 160 listings were not my best by any means. It took me a long time to find good design styles and get it just right. I'd recommend keeping going, keep listing, keep trying new things until you find just the right combination that works. It's not an exact science, you have to have a scientist mindset and keep experimenting until you find the right combination!

    Thank you so much for this Cassiy! I just have a question, does Etsy gives more important to exact phrases in the Title? Also on your previous video about SEO you said to not repeat keywords on the title to use more space for more keywords, but in this video you are repeating the word ' sweatshirt', is it not better to use the words 'crewneck', or 'pullover'? I'd highly appreciate your response

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Etsy does not give an exact answer on if they favor exact keyword phrases or not but when they are big keywords that get lots of searchs, then I will do a few exact keyword matches to try to rank for those. I don't usually ever use words like "crewneck" or "pullover" unless people are actually searching those terms. I'd more likely just say, "Funny Halloween" by itself to then fit more keywords that I think they'd be searching for than to add "crewneck" at the end of that.

I have just started my Etsy shop on your teachings and I hope I will get your results or at least close to them. Could you please tell me how long should I wait to start seeing my products ranking on etsy? after doing the SEO tips you mentioned should you wait for some days or if things are done correctly one should start ranking in a few hours.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunantley these tips will increase your chances of getting some views but you won't officially start ranking higher until you get sales and reviews for your item! It just all takes time. I'd say most listings don't really get sales for their first few weeks usually unless it's a super hot trend and there is not a lot of competition for that niche. Hopefully you will start seeing the benefits in the next few weeks here though. But make sure you are working on the other pieces of the puzzle like trending designs in niches that are selling right now!

    Awesome content! My confusion lies with SEO when having the same design but on different clothing products. Say you have the exact coffee design on a shirt and a hoodie. Should they have completely different title keywords to increase your chances of one of those search terms being used and land on one of your products, or should for consistency of your store, share some of the same long tail keywords?

      I like to keep my SEO pretty similar for t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug. This way I will show up in those searches a few times. You could also copy all of these listings again and do different SEO but I try to only split test one variable at a time so you can really see what made the difference if that makes sense.

    thanks Cassiy. For some reason I thought we were supposed to use as many keywords as you can in the title, not repeat them like you showed in the example (like halloween, or sweater). Do you do the same thing for tags, or there do you mix up keywords / put in more varied keywords? you cant always do an exact phrase on tags because they are too short. thanks

    Since I’m such an Etsy rookie, as green as could be, your videos make me breath easier. Im just about to start uploading to printing/esty. First, of course, I will watch your other SEO videos but I have a question: do you recommend video mockups from Placeit? If so, when you upload your video mockup, along with a few still mockups, does the video automatically become the thumbnail people see when they’re scrolling through products? I dont see a button that allows you to choose that? And, although I’ve purchased a mockup from your store before, I just saw the 20% off coupon you listed here so I will certainly be buying others. Thank you!

    • @CassiyJohnson

      Success leaves clues, don't underestimate the amount of money you can make from those larger keywords. My biggest searched keyword last Christmas that brought me THOUSANDS of sales, was "Ugly Christmas Sweater".
      The bigger thing to focus on is finding low competition niches. Don't only design christmas shirts that say "merry christmas" and expect to be able to sell it just because you have low competition keywords. You want to find lower competition niches over everything else. So go make Mom Christmas Shirts, Nure Christmas Shirts, Alien Ugly Christmas Sweaters, literally the most random things mixed with Christmas will make you all of your money!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you aren't getting any views then it could be that you just need time, sometimes it takes a few weeks for your listings to gain traction. But a lot of times you just don't have competitive mockups or designs. Don't expect to be perfect at this right from the beginning. Take your time really studying what bestsellers are using for mockups, how zoomed in their thumbnails are and what types of designs they are making. Just keep optimizing and making better thumbnails and designs in new niches that are selling right now and you will do great!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That might mean that your listings are missing something or something is confusing to the customer. I'd take a look at your listings compared to best sellers and be honest if they are really competitive or not. Are you using great mockups? Do you have a size chart? do you have any photo cards giving more information/building trust with the customer?
      I'd recommend just keeping doing more research on what is selling right now, and then making your own unique versions. It can take awhile to find the right combinations of designs/seo etc so just keep trying until you find what works for you! It takes longer for some people than others to get good at this but be patient with yourself, you are learning 10 new things all at once! I know it not a get rich quick or easy path, but I really believe that if you just keep going and stay consistent that it will happen for you!!

      No, typically with most niches there are really only a few key terms that people are searching for. You can add a term or two to a listing for a niche if you sell they are really trending though. But changing all of your SEO can reset where you are in the rankings, so try never to edit a listing's SEO that is already selling well.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is you don't want to list a similar design necessarily, you want to create something that maybe says the same thing but brings something new to the table. You have to also be honest with yourself if your design is actually competitive or not, if your mockups are really well done or not etc. There is a lot more that goes into it than just SEO. But even if you do everything perfect, it can take a few weeks to really start getting sales on new items. So just keep trying over and over until you find what works. I have made plenty of good designs that never sold. It's all a numbers game.

    So all 13 tags should be different than those in the title? Also, if you have not been doing your seo this way should you go back into your listings and correct this? I’m wondering if updating a listing causes any issues or if it’s a good thing to do

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว

      If an item has sold, I would not go back and edit the listing at all. If it is getting favorites/views, I probably wouldn't edit it either. This is something I would recommend starting going forward mostly. Or if you are getting no views, then go back and update only the listings that you think you also did a really good job on everything else like mockups, designs, niche selection etc.
      As for the tags, you want to match some of the big things you want to try to rank for in your tags so maybe 3-4 terms, but the rest ideally will be different so you are showing up in more places on the internet! But remember to get MORE specific with your tags, not less specific. So don't do things like "gift for her" for example. Really try to think about who is buying this item, what are they wearing it to, or who are they gifting it too? This should give you a good idea of what types of searches to come up in. But again make sure you aren't just making this all up, look at the top sellers and see what tags they are using!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelplatt3766 I run my business mainly on organic traffic and then some Etsy ads. I would not say that doing social media is necessary at all. This is something I'd recommend focussing on int he future after you have already found successful items that are proven to sell if you can just get them in front of more people. If you spend tons of time promoting listings that you don't know if people even like on social media, then you are just going to get burnt out!
      Just focus on the basics, find what's selling well on Etsy, add value to it and list it for sale! Then do it over and over until you make sales. Then capitalize on what worked, add that design to other colors/items and make more versions of it for the same niche.
      This is the exact process I have followed. It really is that simple!
