    You are one of the only people on youtube telling the truth about the middle man payments for print on demand everyone is just leaving out the fact that you have to pay for the product upfront thanks for be honest.

      Right! I thought I was the only one who caught that. Was getting ready to set up everything then I heard one person gloss over it. Only to come here to see the true costs of everything. Thanks @Cassiy Johnson do laying out the real foundation.

    I just made my first 3 sales over the weekend and learned the hard way that you have to come out of pocket up front. All in all I have no complaints. Just wish I would have taken this warning seriously.

      How do you pay printify

  • @dylanmmc
    @dylanmmc ปีที่แล้ว +11

    This video was so helpful, it seems like linking credit card to printify and paying it off once a month after you collect Etsy money is the easiest but they really could work together better. Etsy could easily send the exact cost of production to printify even if Etsy withheld the rest of your profit in your etsy account until item ships.

    This is the second video I’ve watched from you. I was just about to say thank you, again, but I almost just cried from the end of the video. It’s just so sweet that you and your husband are home together. Whats better than love like that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I know I’m just a stranger out in the world, but this made me happy. Sorry if it’s a bit weird. Thank you.. - Gabe

    I truly appreciate you Cassiy! I have moved to a completely new environment and haven’t been able to find a job. I was disappointed and felt lost. I also don’t want to have a 9-5 job cause i’m just trading my time for money. Your videos are so informative and so clear that I was able to open my Etsy shop right after I watched your video. I truly can’t thank you enough! I voluteer at this Buddhist temple where it requires a lot of time and money commitments. I don’t want to quit going to the temple because it’s my passion to help people through Buddhism, but at the same time, I have to make money to keep my passion. It’s such a torn decision between going to the temple and making money. That’s why I’ve been putting it off and try not to think about it. But your video gave me hope because now I can have all the free time for the temple while making money online! You are truly amazing for giving us all this information for free while so many people out there trying to sell their “free courses on how to be a millionaire by selling online”. So I just wanna let you know that you are truly helping people changing their lives! Thank you very much!

    There can be other costs as well. If you don't want your home address on a public site, you can get a PO Box or a UPS box that has a real street address. These cost money. And perhaps you want to list a different phone number than your home or cell phone - more money. Create an LLC? More money. A training course, like Cassiy's? More money. I would say, save up a bit over $1,000 to start up.

    I wanna add that when you first start you DO NOT have to have a creativefabrica subscription nor the Printify subscription. HOWEVER, the more designs and the more sales and traffic you get, it would make would make more sense to get the subscriptions.
    For creativefabrica you can utilize the freebies and the free bundles they give out. And use those images to your advantage. There are bundles for $1 and other cheap svgs and whatnot. Just make sure to read the licenses that the sellers attach to their product.

    • @Dreamy-writer
      @Dreamy-writer ปีที่แล้ว

      But in order to keep up with the specific designs of currently trending items, I feel that the subscription to CF is worth it as it saves so much time having full access to the platform as opposed to picking through the slim pickings offered on the daily freebies.

  • @johnnyroses9170
    @johnnyroses9170 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    As a photographer there's a lot of the subscription fees that can be eliminated. However the drag is... say you have a following or a decent reach. That initial start could be really rough without access to a CC or even more than that $200 to cover orders. Imagine hitting 80k or more people in a week with a post on say fb & if even 30 of them go buy your puzzle for xmas gifts... that puzzle alone costs you $15-$20 to make per order. That's $600 waiting to be covered when you're just some starving artist being told oh you should sell your work.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there are always negatives you can see in anything but I think the benefits of being able to start your biz with practically no money down, far outweigh the disadvantages that this business model has. You could get the orders and just wait a few days before you put them into production since you only get charged when they start making them. So you could say that it takes you 1-2 weeks to make your products, that way you have time to get paid from Etsy before starting production or something. There is always a way to make it work if you look. If you really want this, then don't let anything hold you back

    • @Dreamy-writer
      @Dreamy-writer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CassiyJohnson I know you commented this a while back, but how do you hold off on production until you get paid? Hi Cassiy - I know this is an older video, so you might not see this. But I have a question about how you cover costs when you have a wildly successful month like your first November. Without getting too personal, how do you suggest we hold funds in reserve to cover a large surge like that just in case? Cause I don’t usually have an extra $20k lying around to cover an unexpected viral sale. 😂 Thanks for always giving such great info!! 💖

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Don't worry, this doesn't happen overnight! By time you have your first big month, you will be able to change your Etsy payments to daily instead so you will pay for orders, then get Etsy payments the next day and that will just keep happening each day all month! It's not like you have to pay for much upfront if that makes sense!

      I have a question to go along with this question. So, it seems like a trade to me and maybe someone can clarify for me. Etsy gets an order from a customer then etsy charges you, then you get that money back a week later. That seems like a trade to me. I'm just trying to figure out how this would make money. I'm so very interested in doing this and I love how Cassie has put it all into "English" for us. She's very helpful. I'm just stuck in how the pod process helps to make money. Hopefully someone can help me understand better.

    • @wholovesyababy5574
      @wholovesyababy5574 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@cheriewallace9767 Someone buys a shirt for $25. Printify charges your credit card to make and ship the shirt, say $16. When Etsy pays you, they withhold their cut, say, $2.83. You have paid Printify up front $16 on your credit card. Etsy pays you $22.17. You pay your credit card. Your profit is $6.17. If you sell 1,000 shirts, your profit is $6,170. From which you will have to pay taxes, of course.
      The question above is - What happens if you max out your credit card on Printify because you had a surge of sales and Printify won't make anymore orders, and you haven't been paid by Etsy yet... Uh oh! Cassiy's answer was that that won't happen in the first 90 days when Etsy is holding up your payments. After the first 90 days, Etsy will pay you regularly (daily???) and you can pay your credit card - so if you have a sudden surge in sales - YAY!
      Pay heed to Cassiy's message that it takes time to build a business. You're not going to make a million dollars in your first month, and therefore, you're not going to have a million-dollar charge from Printify on your credit card the first month either.

Thank you for the time you took to make them. It's making me rethink a few things. I would love to stay in my niche but I just don't know if it's viable.

    Thank you Cassiy, your videos give me so much clarity regarding my approach with online business and print on demand. I am also using Printify and Etsy. I just started and wanted to know if you have a tutorial regarding the shipping costs on Etsy, for deliveries to the USA/Canada/Europe and so on? I am not sure what amount to set. I am grateful for any advice on this topic. Thank you again for your videos and guidance.

    Thank you Cassiy! Finally an adequate channel about POD with a realistic approach! I'm an illustrator and draw my own designs, so I want to make money with it of course. And I've watched already tonnes of videos about POD and all of them more like "how easy and big this money is". And I live long enough to know that no money is easy at the beginning. Thank you for sharing your experience and being so specific!

    Morning Cass. I can’t thank you enough for helping me via your TH-cam channel! I can’t wait to start an Etsy shop. Hopefully soon.
    One request:
    Can you make a video showing what it will look like to sell printables and show how much could be taken out of each printable sell via your Etsy shop? For Example: if you sell a create receipt for $5.00, how much will Etsy take out since it’s a printable?
    Thanks so much Cass.

So imagine my dismay when I just now saw your mention of the 40 free first etsy listings for opening a new store! I haven't posted any listings yet though...is there still a way I can take advantage of this offer?

    Another expense is buying a reseller (number) certificate from your state. You have to have one to work with Printify or Printful before they connect to your store.

    Hi Cassiy, I just bought your calendar and Income & expenses resources. They are fantastic and puts me so far ahead with these. I am from Australia and although I have been to the US and we see so much US TV here, there is just so much overseas people don't understand about the American culture, for instance the way you use the word holiday. We only use the word holiday to mean a day or days off work or school. What does holiday mean in the US? I think you mean a special day. Is that right? Anyway, thank you so much for the resources they are fabulous.

    Hi Cassiy! I greatly appreciate your videos on Print on Demand and have learned a lot. The only aspect that makes me hesitate to move forward with Print on Demand is that I cannot add a Thank You Card or freebies to the order. I am worried that I'll lose that personal touch that my customers appreciate. Have you experienced any problems with this? And any suggestions?

    This is such great information! Just curious to hear how much “time” does it take you to manage the business you have now? My intention is to be able to work less than 8 hours per day but since this is a 24hr online business, I’m wondering if that’s even possible.

    Hi Cassiy, thank you for sharing your journey. Your content has been very educational and high value for anyone looking to get into PoD. The question I have (if you don't mind) is once an item sell on Etsy, do you have to manually process that order over to the fulfillment company, in this case Printify or does the transaction automatically process where the order is sent directly to them?
