Hi Scotty ! How are you ! Please help me if you get this. I know I need to check my exhaust manifold for leaking rattling noise on Toyota S Corolla 2002 . I changed a tensioner pulley and a water pump my self. But that wasn't the noise. I like older cars so I could work on it and save money. It rattles on and off. Could it be the spring bolt . Maybe you've had to fix that sometime ago and know my issue with it ? I know you're extremely busy sometimes. Thank you very much .

As a Mechanic, I have to point this little caviat out...
It's not a case of finding a good mechanic, it's a case of finding an experienced mechanic for the equipment you own.
I can do a top end rebuild on a ford 4.0L in quite literally 2 1/2 hours (minus the time for the machine shop to dress the heads), I can swap out a power steering pump on a chevy 5.7 in a little under 50 minutes (including de-mounting the pump from the bracket)... Sounds great right?
I am utterly CLUELESS when it comes to working on a Peterbilt (Other than I know how to cage the brakes for towing...)
I can grasp concepts, and probably even do repairs properly as long as I have a manual available. Doesn't mean I'm going to be a "Good" mechanic on everything.

Scotty, that is such a good point to make about having to replace all 4 tires on AWD or 4WD when you get a nail in the wrong place. With good tires, my FWD Kia handles the infrequent snows of lowland Washington just fine, and so did my old Toyota FWD sedan. I'm ordering a FWD Ford Maverick hybrid and the tire cost is a good reason to resist the constant chatter to switch to Ecoboost FWD. I've never leased a vehicle but your friend did OK with that lease. My state issued 2004 work Jeep had brake and suspension rust at an early age, same roads and places as my 2003 Ford, so you've explained that. Thanks for the lessons!

What was the down payment on that $210 lease and what's the payout? And what would it cost to actually just buy one cash?

What do you think about me installing an aftermarket 4x4 on a 2008 silverado 2500HD 2WD? it has a low 47000 miles on a 6.0.

I disagree with the 4 tire replacement on AWD vehicles. Differentials compensate for different wear on different tires - like computers compensate for varying octane levels in gas.

We had one of those for over 8 years. Turned it in to the dealership when hubby got too itchy for a new one. Was a 4x4 with 205K. Never had a problem with it that I recall, and my husband was NOT ‘gentle’ with his vehicles! (I NEVER let him drive mine!). I’d say you’re not going to get hurt with that truck!😂
