    Silco never even though about giving Jinx up.
    The whole monologue to Vanders statue was literally Silco trying to convince himself he should.
    "Everything we ever wanted... and what do I lose but problems"
    The subtext in this being "So why cant I do it?"
    Followed by "it all makes sense now, brother... Is there anything as undoing as a daughter?"
    He called Vander a coward for not be willing to risk Vi for the cause.
    Now Silco understands and he is literally giving up everything he is and everything he ever fought for, his lifes ambition...
    For Jinx... she quite literally "undid" all that he was.
    His words at the end were absolute truth, he NEVER would have given her to them... not for anything.
    Oh, and you feel bad for the villains cuz theyre not actually villains.
    Theyre people... this is what makes this show one of the best of all time.
    No one is a true hero or villain.
    Everyone is a bit of both.
    Everyone a bit gray area.
    Silco was a bad guy but he wasnt evil.
    He didnt kill or hurt people for some sadistic pleasure, he did it for his "cause" and to be perfectly honest, his cause is pretty justified.
    Freeing the undercity of Piltover oppression.
    His methods are ruthless and brutal and I dont approve of them which make him "The bad guy" of the show but hes not really evil.
    God damn, this show is so close to perfection its scary.

    • @Tichondrius-
      @Tichondrius- 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It depends on what you consider as evil. For most of the part we, humans, consider it like something that goes against our moral code. At Rome's times feeding people to lions at the arena was considered as normal action. But now it's a bad thing, "evil". Silco did a loooot of bad things, which means that he is an evil being, just with some "good" ambitions. He doesn't do evil things cuz he is just an evil character, he has purpose and he believes that he can't achieve it without these methods.

    Ella Purnell's performance as Jinx was absolutely and powerfully heartbreaking. Just like Mia Sinclair Jenness who voiced young Powder in the first act, there is just so much to each performance that elevates each scene.
    The entire show is a masterpiece in every aspect but the voice performances are so emotionally deep that it's hard to not feel the same pain and tear up or cry.

I just want them to do whatever it takes to maintain this level of narrative, character arcs, voice acting, animation etc. It's going to be a very steep hill to climb. If they pull off season 2 with this level of quality, this show will be cemented as legendary.

    The more I watch this show the more I love Silco as a character, despite all his flaws; his feelings for Jinx have been genuine throughout. From sympathising with her in the alleyway to not wanting to give her up in exchange for peace - he really saw her as a daughter.

    • @Xanderj89
      @Xanderj89 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I love rewatching him with Jinx, just watching his expressions and the way he reacts to her, and talks to her, compared to everyone else.
      When everyone else either treats her like a child, or like she's a problem, or even just like the guy in the bar being on edge by her unpredictability, Silco never does any of that. Jinx will be twitching to and fro, straying from the topic and acting wild, warping around the room blowing on syringes and talking about babymakers, and Silco will just be calmly talking to her like normal, in even tones, making requests of her and placing his trust in her. He meets her on HER level with respect, and not like some broken 'thing' to be fixed.
      Even in this last scene at the table, he's not startled when she suddenly shoots Mylo and is having a crisis with her mental state, he's just worried about her, telling her not to listen when Vi won't stop triggering her PTSD, and even after she reacts to defend Vi and freaking KILLS him he doesn't blame her, his last effort goes to wanting her to be alright.

  • @MISTERBABAD00K
    @MISTERBABAD00K 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The reason you feel bad for Silco is because he did truly love her and relate to her. When he first found her and she said Vi wasn't her sister anymore, he was able to empathize because he lost a brother in Vander. When he was talking to the Vander statue, he had realized everything had come full circle. Vander had to abandon his goals to protect his family and now so did he. While Vi wants to regain her relationship with Powder, she will never truly understand Jinx. Silco, however, saw her for who she really was and loved her just the same. "Don't cry. You're perfect."

  • @zanchi1233
    @zanchi1233 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    The thing is he wasn't thinking about giving up Jinx, that's why he was at the statue of Vander, just like how Vander couldn't give up Vi, now Silco can't give up Jinx, and so he finally understands why Vander was the way he was, "oh it all makes sense now brother"
    They both had a dream and both of them chose their daughter over their dream "is there anything so undoing, as a daughter"
    Phenomenal writing

    It's not really a cliffhanger. The main story has ended. Powder is now gone and Jinx is fully in the driver seat. The origin story of the sisters is done. Sure it goes on but in s2 we can focus more on for example viktor and jayce's story which will be great.

    After finished Arcane, one of my friends made the following comment:
    "The last thing Powder did was shoot Silco to save Vi."
    Because killing Silco and then his dying words to her, broke what was left of Powder. After fighting against her insanity for so long, she accepts it: she is a jinx. She is Jinx.
    And if she's going to be a jinx, then she'll be the biggest one the city has ever seen.
    So she attacks the council, and fittingly for her name, jinxes any and all chance of a peaceful resolution.
    A fittingly tragic ending for a great first season.

      It was all according to plan. He scared them. But jinx on the bargaining table is not according to his plan.
      On one description, they say that Arcane is very HUMAN, and I agree. Theres no "true" villain. Just necessary evil, shades of gray, either for their cause or survival.
      And Silco? With all his grand vision of zaun and his conviction to do what ever it takes? He showed that he is human.

    That's the thing: The council is far more villainous than Silco. For the sake of their ignorant greed, they made Zaun the trash-heap it was. Silco was just a product of his circumstance willing to do what he had to if it meant making things better. Lives didn't matter to him before Jinx because life didn't matter to most of them. From the moment they're born, the people in the undercity are raised knowing they could die anytime for any or no reason. The average Piltover citizen probably eats more in a meal than most people in the undercity see in a week. I recall one comic where Jinx looked at a banquet and remarked about there being enough food to feed everyone in the undercity for a month. Food. Clean air. Sunlight. Silco didn't have to promise the people of Zaun much. For just one more day, people like Silco were willing to do anything, and Silco had his sights set on death by old age in prosperity without being decadent. In his circumstances, that had to look like the Holy Grail, as it were. So what if they die for the cause? At least, their death wouldn't be pointless. Imagine the circumstances where even THAT is better. They truly had nothing left to lose. Despite it all, Silco would have thrown it all away to keep Jinx...though, knowing him, he would have laid Piltover in ashes to have his objective And keep his daughter.

Especially in this episode, when the council reacts negatively to the proposal of peace, they are in slow motion. But when they vote for peace they are played in real time. Meanwhile Jinx and her rocket are in slow motion as she destroys any notion of peace between Piltover and the Under City

    It is a cliffhanger in a sense - we the audience is hooked and wants to know what happens next, because the story is not over and there’s so much more it could give. But it is not a cliffhanger in the way Attack on Titan does it where it just cuts right in the middle of action and the next episode connects immediately onto the last (which is absolutely shitty for a story but profitable for a commercial product). There is a sense of conclusion to this ending, like how the transformation of Jinx was completed, how the schism between the cities finally became irreparable, and so on.
    IMO there’s absolutely no point for season 2 of Arcane to pick up right at the last scene of season 1. They could start the season days after the attack, at a memorial service for the fallen, or they could have another full time jump - imagine how cool it’d be for them to start season 2 with a Piltover Remembrance Day of the attack, a whole year later, with everyone and everything evolved, similar to the transition of Ep3 to Ep4. They don’t even need to tell us who died or who survived or what happened after - they could just show us how the city is after the time jump. We could get some big payoffs with the mysteries regarding the fates of some characters. The narrative potential is infinite and I’m hyped to death. I love Arcane partly because they don’t insult the audience by “telling” us everything. As they say, “show, don’t tell”. That’s what Fortiche had done, they crafted a lively and intricate world and they showed the story to us, and I hope they continue to do that, those masterful French artists.

The main limitation stated with the previous generation of hextech was the inability to create portable devices due to the volatile nature of the crystals. Jayce is playable character, Viktor is playable, and Arcane is prequel stories of many champions so they DON DIE
    And also, There are some facts about Mel's accessory
    1.She is child of Noxian warlord, and didnt take off those gold accessories even when she going to sleep
    2. Background of final scene covered by red light, but its shining golden light unnaturally
    So, probably Mel is also survive

    Jayce would hand Vi her ass. She's a far, far more skilled fighter. But Jayce is fit, capable, and has a weapon that's an order of magnitude superior to her gauntlets. His weapon was designed to be a weapon, hers are just tools that double as decent weapons. Additionally, Jayce knows exactly what his weapon does, especially now that he's finally used it, and he also knows exactly what Vi's gauntlets do, while she has no clue at all how they really work. She might get one or two hits in, but Jayce can very probably take those hits, but one blast from his hammer-bazooka and she's done.

    My guess is Sevika will join the firelights, driving a wedge between Ekko and Vi. Without a faction to trust in Zaun, she and Cait work with Jayce and Medarda (who is on the warpath after losing Mel). War.

  • @TheFixer_1
    @TheFixer_1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I seriously doubt that war will be the outcome tbh. What I think is going to happen is Vi will feel responsible for what Jinx has done and join the Enforcers. Caitlyn will become sherriff of Piltover & Vi will become her partner.
    The Chem-Barons will take over Zaun entirely and Renne will try to kill Jayce (Yeah there's no way he dies in the rocket attack) for death of her son.
    Another Chem-Baron (Voss the white haired Chem-Baron I'm the meeting with Silco) will create Urgot.
    There's a strong possibility that the new champion Zeri will appear in season 2 due to her fighting the Chem-Barons who are running Zaun. Possible team up with Ekko.
    Singed will create Warwick... Heavily implied to be Vander both in Arcane and League of Legends Lore.
    I think we'll see at least 1 champion from Noxus in season 2, which one I don't know but if I were to guess I'd say Darius, Draven, Katarina or Swain... my money is on Swain.
    The Ferros Clan whilst mentioned in season 1 but not seen will have a heavy presence in season 2. Camille the Chief Intelligencer of Clan Ferros will likely be a major character.
    If you thought the Enforcers were heavy handed the private army of Clan Ferros will be an eye opener.
    The missile attack I don't believe will kill Caitlyn's mother Lore wise she has a big story later on involving the Ferros Clan. Mel will survive it too. Viktor... cmon you don't even need to ask he's a champion and his story has barely begun!

    Jinx last look at Vi is hateful. Vi doesn't love Jinx, she loves Powder. And Powder is replaced by Piltover, represented by Caitlyn. Caitlyn has taken Powders place leaving Powder second and Jinx even further isolated. Yes - Vi has changed. Powder metamorphed into Jinx. Powder's parents were killed by Piltover (how dare Vi associate herself with Piltover through her girlfriend). Jinx father was accidentally killed - she is all alone - it has all changed and we are ready to move on.

    The transition from Caitlyn's scream to her mother voting guts me every time. Gets me more than a lot of the things in that final scene for some reason. Probably because Caitlyn really was just the wholesome idealist, she didn't really do anything wrong this whole season. Although I wish Vi had tried to deescalate more - told her sister AND Caitlyn to disarm, for instance. We're all just talking here, this is a family meeting for better or worse

    Jayce is directly responsible for the outcome of this episode. He valued his own petty justice against a single person more than the peace that was 100% obtainable. The people of Piltover at least the majority of the shown characters care too much for their possessions, their wealth, their greed, their self serving laws. The people of the undercity "Zaun" for the most part are far more loyal. By forcing the Jinx turnover as a condition of Peace Jayce made it unobtainable. Silco was conflicted, how could he throw away his life ambition and the hope of the undercity for one person? This triggered Jinx and set off the final conflict with Vi, Catlyn, and Silco which resulted in Silco's death and Jinx launching an attack on the Council. Jayce has fallen so far that he couldn't understand that one person can outweigh peace for two cities despite having overthrown Heimerdinger for the exact same reason only a short while back. Jayce lost his ideals very quickly which to me shows that they weren't really that important to him.
    What a Masterpiece. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

      You don't just forgive a person who carpet-bombed you. Not in Noxus, not in Zaun, not even in Piltover. It's a Greek tragedy - there was no good ending possible from the start.

    • @morlock2012
      @morlock2012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree. Firstly, nobody expected Silco to choose Jinx over Zaun. Jayce barely knows him, I can't see anything that might have tipped him off.
      Secondly, he's negotiating the future relationship. If he simply agrees to Silco's terms it's a surrender. It would mean that Zaun can do whatever it wants.
      If Silco hands over Jinx, something precious to him, it's a trade. Even if mostly symbolic, it says that there's some actions that aren't acceptable, and Zaun will respect those. It's the same idea as Vi and Vander offering to turn themselves in to keep the enforcers out of the undercity. A sacrifice to show agreements can be kept.
      Heck, it's not too different from that scene in ep1, where Vander makes those two newcomers stick to their deal. Without some ground rules, some degree of mutual respect, everything falls apart.

      @@morlock2012 It was plain as day that he had serious issues with that request, it was also not the only request. He was also required to give up Shimmer production and the Hextech Gemstone. He didn't even flinch at those arguably larger requests. The Jinx point was the one he argued against. Those first two points should have been far more than enough to build a peace upon.
      Taking Jinx accomplishes nothing, its retribution for her perceived crimes which are a minuscule fraction of the crimes committed against the undergound citizens by the Piltover elite. He wanted her purely for his own ego. Worse he negotiated in bad faith, he didn't have the support of his government when he did it; though he manage to get it later.

    It was a happy ending. Jinx delivered karma to everyone. Marcus is dead, Silco is gone. Vi was protected. And the council will receive the stone they created. It may not be happy for Jinx, because she attached to the villain and doing the right thing there was not easy. To me, Vi is the real jinx. She got everyone into trouble twice. First time, Vander paid the bill. Second time, everyone dies. This story does not follow the trope of the rookie child who saves the day. It is more like the kid who plays with rocket fuel in the garage and burns everything.
