    The Shark Bazooka is her weapon in the game. But it's not just an easter egg for the gamers, it actually based on Silco's liking toward sea creature, and if you look closely, the shark bazooka has a scar in it's left eye just like Silco. She made it for him.

      All of the transitions between scenes throughout the whole season do similar things. Silco blows a smoke ring transitions into hex-gate ring. Mel is remembering a necklace lying in a pool of blood from someone beheaded transitions to a painting on a wall of the same thing, just as Mel wakes up from a nightmare. Vi is lying on a bed talking to Caitlyn transitions to Jinx lying on an operating table curled up in the same position.
      They're really good with their transitions.

    *“Don’t cry. You’re perfect.”* The best and worst thing Silco could have ever said to Jinx.
    The reasurment that there was someone in her life who cared and loved her unconditionally despite her flaws. But also the confirmation that she didn’t need to change, that the violence, trauma and panic attacks were part of her, and that everything she had done until this moment was right. Silco sealed Jinx’s future with one sentence.
    After all if the person that most cared about you in their dying words said “you are perfect”, would you ever change?

      @@ProphetOfTruth_ how? Literally at the end of arc 1 Powder was a useless kid and he knew nothing about her to make him think she'd be useful. Rewatch the scene, he clearly looks towards Vander's body after she says her sister abandoned/betrayed her. He sees himself in her because he was abandoned by Vander too and that's why he takes her in (he was going to kill her 10 seconds later because, again, he had no use for her apart from finding out Vi's location)

      @@ProphetOfTruth_ then why would he hesitate to turn her in? If she was a tool used to gain independence from Piltover, then why didn't he just agree to betraying her? • @palomaroggeri8680
      @palomaroggeri8680 2 ปีที่แล้ว +187

      @@ProphetOfTruth_ no it really wasn’t. I think a lot of people mis identify Silco’s morals for manipulation. He doesn’t manipulate Jinx because he truly thinks what he is doing is right.
      He thinks that violence is the best outlet for Jinx’s trauma because that’s how it was for him. We even see Silco having a similar panic attack like jinx in the montage that happens when Jinx is calling out for Vi and Vi and Cait have just escaped.
      They both have abandonment issues and that’s why loyalty is such a big theme in the show. Silco truly belives that Vi will leave Jinx again just like it happened to him and Vander. He thought that Jinx being as destructive as she was was a good way for her to feel free, because it worked with him.
      He geniuinely thought that Vi was dead, and when he found out she wasn’t, he was reminded of Vander after everything that happened not wanting to fight for zaun, and was immediately afraid to loose Jinx and that she would be abandoned again.
      Not saying he is a good guy, he is terrible dictator who ruled the undercity by fear and addiction and doesn’t worry about anyone’s safety if it means freedom for Zaun. But he truly cared about Jinx and viewed her as his daughter. He didn’t know how to be a good dad, how to deal with a traumatized child or how to raise a little girl, but he tried his hardest to show to her that he would love her no matter what she did or who she was. Which ended up in him condoning all of Jinx’s wrong doings.

    "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?" is a huge theme in the series.

    • @noremac7216
      @noremac7216 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd say only Vander and Silco are changed or "undone" by there daughter. We don't know enough about singed yet and both the Kiramanns and Ambessa may come in conflict with their daughters but their daughters ultimately never alter their trajectory in life. Where is Vander and Silco ultimately were both willing to completely reevaluate their life goals for theirs. And honestly I think it's better as a theme just between them

    • @LockeNarshe
      @LockeNarshe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@noremac7216 Vi and Jinx's parents went to war for the betterment of their children--as Vander alluded to when he took his people across the bridge that day, not unlike what Sevika is trying to re-organize. Marcus' daughter was his undoing because every potential option he had to get out from under Silco's thumb would be undermined by Silco coming after Ren or himself, leaving Ren an orphan. The Kiramaans' trajectory in life drastically changes because of Caitlyn... she's the one that sways her mother to see Vi's--and by extension, Caitlyn's--viewpoint on what's been happening to the Undercity, which is why she votes for peace in the final episode. Caitlyn going to the council and giving Vi the floor to speak is what prompts future negotiations and the peace-vote to begin with. Regarding Mel and Mrs. Medarda, the entire reason Mrs. M sends Mel away is that she "made her weak" when it came to making the necessary decisions she felt would keep them safe. We don't know enough about Singed's daughter outright, but there are context clues to consider; he alludes to her in the past tense, and we know she has something to do with why he's become what he has today--in a similar fashion to his "Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress" and "I must warn you, if you take this path, they will despise you." Furthermore, "I know the look of a doomed man" is likely to reference himself (among others).
      So really, the poster you replied to was correct on every account. Far more character foils are present in this theme than just Vander and Silco, they're just the most obvious ones.

    Silco was everything Powder/Jinx wanted, someone who would accept her for what she was, flaws and all. He loved her unconditionally, for better and for worse. Vander was the father that they all needed: understanding and caring, but willing to put his foot down to make sure his children developed into well-rounded people.
    Vi has solved every one of her problems with her fists, so when it comes to Jinx's mental state, she has almost no experience to draw from. Jinx hoped Vi could understand that she is different now, that it's not possible to go back to exactly the way it was in the past. Vi continuously calls her Powder, reminding her of the past and all the trauma that comes with it. Vi's heart is in the right place, but it's not what Jinx needs to hear right at that moment.
    Silco finally understood why Vander made the decisions he did, all those years ago. He would do anything to achieve his dream of independence, but he would do even more to protect his daughter. Silco makes peace with his brother in arms, then spends his last breath comforting Jinx.
    Amazing series, well-developed characters, impeccable animation and flawless voice acting. Nothing is perfect, but damn does this masterpiece come close to it.
    P.S. also watch the music video for Enemy: Animated to the same style and quality. It includes scenes they didn't manage to fit into the show and hits different after finishing Arcane.
    P.P.S If anyone wants to just have a discussion about any part of the show, just reply. I could literally talk about this show for hours.

      It's heartbreaking how Vi, exactly because she's used to solve everything directly, tells Jinx to remember Milo and the others, in what would seem the cliché trope that makes the insane character "come back to their senses". Instead Vi just makes the trauma worse, Jinx sees the ghosts of the dead as monsters (like those Vi created for her when they were little) and she grows small inside her mind

    6:20 “in your brief lifespan?”
    Heimer is currently like 400 something years old. Part of his “negligence” stems from the fact that he sees a number of “human issues” as small, or trivial. Something he’s seen 20x over in his life already. There will always be a sense of “I know most”, when you outlive everyone around you by 4-5 lifetimes. It’s not Heimer being a “shitty guy”, it’s 100% in character for a genius yordle like himself.

      Heimer is definitely not shitty but being wealthy and immortal has rendered him apathic to common people issues. He never has to fight for survival, scramble for food, or wonder how he'll make it the next day. He became a bit complacent and self-satisfied, sure of his own knowledge due to his experience, but in the end very ignorant of the harsh reality of life and struggles of his city. This is perfectly reflected in his scene with Viktor, where he basically offers his dying student a beautiful but empty speech: "you are dying?/sucks to be you!" He failed as a leader to his city and as a mentor to his students, and it's only through facing the undercity and meeting Ekko that he saw where he went wrong. He can be a good mentor to Ekko by taking action and working along youth and progress rather than going fully against due to his fears of the past. It's a great twist on the elder sage because in this instance he was both right AND wrong.

    Pre-explosion, Vi had been only ever loving and encouraging of Powder, and after Vander dies, Vi lashes out harshly at Powder before she realizes what she's doing, and walks away to calm herself. Powder thinks that Vi is truly abandoning her, which devastates her; after this trauma, Powder's identity and foundation is shaken and she battles this identity crisis of being Powder or Jinx all her life. Powder/Jinx has only ever cared what Vi had thought about her. When she discovers vi is alive, she lights the flare off in a desperate attempt for things to go back the way it has been before the explosion, and for a moment, she gets exactly what she had always wanted; Vi showed up like she promised, apologized for leaving her and explained what happened , and in that moment Powder had her loving encouraging sister back until Caitlin showed up. The next time Jinx sees Vi after the tower is on the bridge, where, in Jinx' perspective, Vi abandons her again, despite promising never to leave her on the tower. This solidifies in Jinx' mind that Vi really does think she's a Jinx, and that she's not worthy of love. At the very end when Jinx kills Silco, it is the nail in the coffin for Powder; it's in this last moment that Jinx realizes, acquiesces and accepts that she really is a Jinx (Before that, Jinx had held this hope that she wasn't a Jinx, and that really was Powder, and in her mind, Powder is someone that deserves love).

    The most tragic thing about Powder/Jinx is that it's not about the choice wheter she is one or the other. Its the choice about beeing herself that tears her apart.
    Vi told her in Episode 2 that "What makes you different makes you strong." and she took that to her heart, fully embraced it and stayed alive because of it. On an emotional level she will always be this little girl, she will always be Powder because of the trauma that happend to her as a child which made it impossible for her to gro any further. And after years when shes more different than she was ever before, her sister doesnt't seem to truely recognize her any more and even seems to be afraid of her, of what she has become. Believe me its one of the worst experiences to be trurhfully feared by someone you love and who you admire just because of who you are. This pain will break you and it does though to Powder/Jinx finally.
    And in her shattered mind thats the ultimate betrayl. The idea of beeing different as a strength gets brutally reversed in its core and the only one who loved he unconditionally for exatclty that dies by her own hand in the end.
    .
    Srtill could cry on a daily becuase of that absolute phenomenal tragedy.

That scene already Imo is a singht of silcos love for her many ppl think he tried to do it bc he was just worried to lost jinx( his daugther) but I think he did it to protect her from even more trauma.

    Gotta argree with Eric, Cait & Vi are definitely implied to become a couple later. There were so many moments between them over the season, notably the scenes on the bed, Vi parting ways in the rain, Caitlyn's shower introspection, etc. It's refreshing that the showrunner's didn't put emphasis front & center onto it but sort of just foreshadowed and hinted at it. I'm no shipper 99.9% of the time, but it felt pretty intentional to me. I'll eat my words if this doesn't evolve somehow in one of the future seasons.

    • @cd5sircoupe
      @cd5sircoupe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LangkeeLongkee Well I'm pretty "heteronormal" or whatever but I have no objections to people doing whatever feels right to them in that sphere. I've known plenty of gay/trans people in my time, I don't judge.
      I could potentially see someone making an argument with Silco/Jinx in terms of creepy daddy/daughter relationship vibes. But that's probably due to Jinx having a psychotic mental break and not necessarily Silco's doing, or maybe it is. Perhaps we'll see in some flashbacks later on. There were some... undertones in their scenes but it wasn't on the same level as the other two characters. I think they just served to show how unhinged Jinx was.
      I don't see anything with Cait & Jayce other than them being friends in their youth in the early episodes & confidants later. Vi & Jayce has literally no merit or evidence. Might turn into actual allies assuming he survived the bombing, but that's about it.
      Damnit, now the comments have me all analyzing relationships in this animated show. I maintain that I don't ship, but this show is so good in everything it does, including the "show don't tell" aspect, that I've gotta say my piece on the matter. There are so many properties out there that need to take a lesson on how to construct/portray their narrative from this show.

Their views and the actions they do to back up their views is so diametrically opposed that I definitely see another confrontation on the horizon. Especially, when Vi now knows that Slico was offered a seat at the table, and potentially having Zaun with him being the dominant power as he, by the end of episode nine, snuffed out any resistance he could have from inside his inner circle.

    2. Vi gave Powder a blue flare saying "Where ever you are. Light this up and I'l find you" Powder has blue clouds tattooed all over her arms and body. She's always been calling out to Vi to come save her.

    Remember Vander's talk to VI on the bridge, it's what Silco figured out in this episode.
    Vi is saying how she's willing to fight and die for their freedom. Vander asks her:
    "What are you will to lose?"
    That's a huge morale stance the show takes. Violence may achieve your goal, but it will come at a huge price and asks the question, is the outcome worth it?

    In the end Silco brought about his own demise. This show artistically demonstrated karma. Silco has consistently been toxic to everyone and when he finally showed love to someone, the weight of his misdeeds was too heavy. Jinx was the product of his and Vander’s crimes. Jinx is perfect

  • @oilnwater8355

    I think people romanticise Silco as a father. He accepted her yes, but he was the one who moulded her. He didn’t accept her as powder, he took her to the lake and said ‘Jinx is perfect’ as if she hadn’t quite yet reached perfection yet. People drag Vi down for not accepting Jinx but it says a lot about Vi’s character. Vi has a moral code unlike silco, she cannot accept Jinx’s behaviour and she isn’t an enabler. She loves Jinx but to be honest, I don’t think it is Vi’s responsibility to accept Jinx and I don’t think it would fix anything. Silco accepts Jinx and makes her into a harmful person, he eggs on her destructive behaviour and tries to keep her for himself. He is a possessive man. I love his character but I wish people would realise that acceptance isn’t what makes a good family member. I wouldn’t accept it if my sibling killed recklessly either. Vi has been in prison for the last 7 years so of course she doesn’t know what Jinx is going through and how she triggered her. Jinx says Vi made Jinx but she was manipulated into believing that. Throughout their childhood Vi encouraged her, the only time she held her back was when they went to save vander, Vi was scared her little sister would get hurt. She believed in powder and defended her constantly. I think the acceptance Jinx seeks from Vi is something she won’t get because Vi can’t bend her morals like that. Although Vi will always love her, even if Jinx doesn’t believe it, you can see Vi loves her

      The entire inciting incident of the series is cause by Vi insisting that they should rob Jayce’s apartment regardless of everyone else’s hesitance, it was Vi’s I’ll thought out plan to give herself up that gave Silco the opportunity to take out Grayson and Vander, it was Sevika that specifically pushed Jinx’s buttons that led to her searching out Vi and it was arguably Silco’s insistence on saving her life regardless of the consequences that destabilised her further

From then on as she grew up, there was a constant battle between the two "characters,"...that plus the trauma of killing her "brothers," led to her chaotic mind. So coming here again(the warehouse), allowing others to see a glimpse into her mind, having Mylo and Claggor being present. She was able to find a sense of "wholeness," after the battle of Jinx(silco) and Powder(vi) reached its conclusion. She was now satisfied with being Jinx...She first left that warehouse scattered, and now she left to a degree of feeling whole.

    I’m interested to see if they will ever kill off a character from the game, I don’t need them to be randomly killed but if everyone has unlimited plot armour it could lose magic after a couple of seasons

      Yeah true. I knew nothing about the game going in so it was more exciting like ooo who's guna die, once I knew who was in the game I was like ahhh they're fine then and it got a little less exciting

      I think if any of them die it'll be himer or singed. Game characters whose deaths could serve the story well

      I wonder if they'll wait at least until their new MMORPG has been out for a bit. That could be the continuing lore game while League could retain all of the old and current characters.

      They did it once, the character Gangplank got killed in lore and was removed from the game for a month or so before bringing him back. The problem with killing characters permanently is because players spend real money for skins.

    (No Spoiler, just my opinion) i dont think there is a redemtion arc for Jinx when probably at least some concil members will die. Vi was already bonding hard with Caitlyn (and she is police). So i think from here on out Jinx will be the villan and Vi will work with the police to bring Jinx in. I guess she also feels responsibel for Jinx.

    I can't figure a way to say it as well, so here's a comment from another video.

    Silco blew me away in this series. He's one of the best villains I remember in a looooong time.
    He started out as a hideous villain. Someone who hated Vander for leaving the cause. And throughout the series we're not sure, if his care for Jinx is geniune or if he's just playing her, using her for his needs. I'm sure in the beginning, Silco just wanted to use her, and saw a little bit of himself in her. But by the end... oh damn. Silco is in the same position as Vander was and... he understands. He can't give up Jinx for Zaun. Zaun that he has worked his entire life to achieve, all undone by a daughter.
    Vi loved Powder, and wanted Powder back. But Powder changed, and there was nothing but Jinx left. The only one who unconditionally loved Jinx, was Silco, and I think that's what the end scene is about. Jinx wanted Vi to love her, love what she had become, love Jinx. But after killing Silco she realizes he was the only one who really cared for her, no matter what she had become, and thus Jinx chose to sat on the Jinx chair.
    It's a twisted father-daughter relationship, but goddamn if it isn't well done, and goddamn if I didn't tear up when Silco died

    One of the most heartbreaking thematic elements for me in this show was that Vi and Powder/Jinx lose each other at the very end of each act. I honestly get pretty cut up about that, and while I highly doubt they're ever going to come to some cordiality, god I want more of this show just to explore the chasm between these two characters. Ugh when is season 2 man.
