- Chasing trout is a blast, and “loch-style fly fishing” is one of the most effective methods for targeting these spotty battlers in our lakes… But eating trout can also be pretty damn good, if you get the recipe right! In this video, I detail three delicious methods for preparing trout. Bon appetite!

Really enjoy your fly fishing videos, catch and cooks are even better.
Glad you like them!
Good one Starlo. Yes, Eucumbene trout are very fit and healthy right now, very tasty too!
They sure are, Keith! Great to see.
Excellent explanation Steve so simple thank you
Glad you liked it! Cheers.
Great instructional video Steve, the smoking and gravlax look so nice. Also totally easy too. Thanks mate 👍🏻.
Thanks, Kev. Yes, not hard at all.
Great gravlax method. I do it a bit differently but now going to try your method. Adding some grated beetroot with the dill works a treat too!!
Sounds great! I'll try that for sure! Thanks.
Standard boat fishing method is using this Lough style in Ireland (Loch is Scottish 😄) Bumble fly on top dropper on the 'lift' is heart stopper lol
Yes, it's a lot of fun.
I'm literally salivating watching this....
Glad you liked it!
Now I'm hungry, Love the Gravlax method.
It's delish!
Really good to see cooking segments on your channel Starlo I’m sure these methods would work with sea fish as well, thanks
You bet! Thanks.
How are you doing
Excellent mate!
Thank you! Cheers, Peachy!
Gravalax: delicious!
Sure is!
Good chef 👍
Cheers. Just a cook and a food lover, never a chef. ;)
Great video Steve and thank you for the cooking tips.
Any time! Cheers.
Fantastic mate ! I like to keep a bream in the mid 30's ( length not age ..ha ha ) for the smoker these days. The Gravlax looks fantastic, would that work on say an Estuary Perch ?
It'd be interesting to try. I've heard of people doing it on things like Australian salmon, so probably worth a go!
I'll be try to hook some of them tomorrow at lake lyell
Good luck! Let us know how you go.
@Starlo Gets Reel not luck on them but good bass 30cm+ and some redfin but a good day had
Hi Steve, I haven't killed/kept a trout for about 20 years now but the most enjoyable way to cook them was to put a generous amount of honey inside and out and wrap in foil. Hopefully you try this sometime. Cheers Pete
Sounds great!

Hi Steve, glad I found your channel, wondered where you got to after the glory days of the glossies and sincerely hope you are doing well. As a largely armchair fisherman, marriage, kid’s, mortgage- the full catastrophe, I devoured all your work from the early eighties on and considered you the best writer amongst some truly great talent. I still think of that article where you encountered those mega bluefin tuna off Vancouver, was a stunning bit of writing and must have been an incredible experience. Anyhoo, best wishes and may I humbly suggest trout with orange and almond sauce is greater than the sum of its parts too.
Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, Ross!
